| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 2:14:44 AM | I have this girl I'm attracted to, but I have a bit of a problem. The man she currently sees has no steady job, no money, and still lives with his parents. She told me she even pays for his dinner when she picks him up, but she won't go out with me, a reasonably successful customer service rep who was married once before because in her words she is "into him".
This baffles me! I try and try to show this girl that there's greener grass right in front of her face but she's stuck on this other guy! I grew up hearing "gotta have a JOB if you wanna be with me" and then this happens. I don't get it, could she be using him? She can't be in love with a loser like that! Come on!

I did date someone that had no real job, no money, no car... He DID live alone! LOL so not with his parents. Having fun can only last so long before it gets really old!

| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 2:28:12 AM | OP you are 33 y.o. man. She may be in love with him. And when you love someone it doesn't matter do they live with parents or not. People have interests in all type of people these days. They may feel chemistry with someone you personally never find attractive, they maybe into an unemployed person, illegal immigrant and etc. May be she experience a high level of pleasure in a private setting with such a man. May be he is doing magic in a bed room. I am sure she is not reporting it to you because it is private. | |

You know, a smart man would get to know this guy and find out how he does it A smart man who brags that he knows all this shit...would not be single. Bottom line.

| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 2:57:23 AM | Maybe she is in love with him. Maybe she doesn't find you attractive.
Maybe she doesn't want to go out with you because you are already in a relationship according to your profile.

Agreed! Just because you believe yourself to be a catch does not mean every woman will agree.Anyway we really don't know why he doesn't have a job right now or why he lives with his parents. He could be going through some really bad times and she is sticking by him.
She might not want to date you because you are only 5 feet tall. It's very politically incorrect to say but it is the truth.

Move on, Pup. | |

| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 5:57:20 AM | Sounds like she loves him or something and isn't into material things. Tough noogies for you.
It also sounds like you're trying to entice her with things. Buy a hooker and move on.

| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 6:29:59 AM | Hey the human brain is a complex thing.. You don't choose the person you fall in love with, it just happens. Now the Love/Hate emotion is actually very close. The person you love the most can become the person you hate the most. Do you believe in love at first site, I do and when it hits you no matter what anyone says or does you are blinded by the light (HEY that was a song) Love transcends money ,material things, and even families.. There is a big difference between love and lust........ If you love this girl, then you’ll just have to wait in the wings and be there if and when she dumps this guy which could be never..... | |

| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 6:35:41 AM | Ah, give it time. She'll be one of those women who later on cry "Where did all the good guys go? Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah" | |

| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 6:46:40 AM | I read the op's post and it translated as *I think i'm better than him, why doesnt she want me instead?* Move along chump-your not every girl's dream guy and certainly not hers. Oh and if you believed having a job is the most important thing then you got duped, lol | |
|
| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 6:52:05 AM | | I agree with everyone else. She wouldn't be with him unless there was something "there". To her obviously how much money someone makes doesn't matter. | |
|
| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 6:57:42 AM | Perhaps the fact that it seems you think that you can buy love she finds unapealing >.>
A relationship should be 50/50 effort on both parties involved, but, sometimes, money and income isnt a big factor or problem for forming an emotional bond between some people to become partners.
Dont get fooled by the "I have a better stuff so i am a better person" mentality. Not saying your a bad person, just material possesions dont make the person.

Yeah that's what bugs me about this thread. It could just as easily read "This guy she's seeing only makes 30 grand a year, drives a 2 year old truck and lives in a trailer. she should be with me because I make twice as much, drive a new car and own a $100,000 house".
I've almost always dated "above" myself and have heard plenty of ex boyfriends who complain about me in very much the same way. In almost every case my former girlfriends have claimed that they were with me because of little things that made all the difference in the world.
|
| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 7:23:01 AM | And the OP doesn't see any issue with seeing someone else while he is already in a relationship..I'm guessing that makes no difference to most and it's only the 'I'm better than' side which matters.

| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 7:28:12 AM | Now lets look at your profile.....
Marital Status..... Not Single/Not Looking .....Who's the loser? The fact is she loves this guy, and if she 'chooses' to carry him then that's up to her, you cannot change that. You may have a better job or a job for that matter and you may have a few tickets on yourself, but you cannot give her what she wants. Best if you stick with your current lover and stop chasing girls who clearly don't want you.
|
| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 7:45:24 AM | I'm reading all the responses and all I can think of is "Um, really?" Ok, the OP isn't an angel, the whole "Not Single/Not Looking" thing while trying to go after a girl is shitty. But, c'mon, you make the other guy look like JC himself. Unless he is 19 or something or just lost his job and is actively looking for one, it's pathetic. You got two hands? Awesome, you can go flip burgers if it came down to it. What, you got so much self respect that you'd rather be unemployed and live with your parents than flip burgers?
OP, figure out what the hell is going on with the whole "Not Single/Not Looking" thing before you go after other women. And while you are at it, go after women who aren't into losers. That would exclude the one you are after.

| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 8:22:43 AM | While op maybe she's into this guy..and not into you that way..you'll have to deal with that reality.
Myself just met a guy in a similar position and while he seemed like a nice person..I couldn't do it....I have worked hard to be where I am today and I'm not interested in dating a man that I have to pay for, someone with no ambition to improve his situation (lol other than to let me pay his bills)...I'm no sugar momma, and I don't want a sugar daddy...but someone more at an equal level...I think I could relate to better.

Oh, what a heartless b*****! KIDDING! :)
On a serious note, how can you call a guy who wants you to pay his bills "a nice person"?

| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 8:40:55 AM | Bottom line she is not into you. Maybe she knows you are in a relationship. Maybe her loser of a boyfriend is at least loyal to her.
Or maybe she has low self esteem and thinks she doesn't deserve better. One day she'll snap out of that mess. However that means she is not going to be right for you anyways.

| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 8:44:21 AM | | Maybe he is very attractive, has a great personality, and shares some common interests with her. As for me dating a man like this, it depends on the situation. If he lost a job or he was recently divorced, then I can understand why he is broke and living at home. If he was living at home and unemployed because he was lazy, then I wouldn't want to date him. | |

You said it yourself...I have a bit of a problem. It is your problem; she shouldn't need to explain anything to you as to why she's interested in this fellow. It's her life, and the last time I checked, we are all free to do with our lives what we want. For reasons you don't know, he could very well be down on his luck, and had to fall back on his parents for a little support. Life happens, and how a person chooses to fix things should be none of your business or concern.
This baffles me! I try and try to show this girl that there's greener grass right in front of her face but she's stuck on this other guy! I grew up hearing "gotta have a JOB if you wanna be with me" and then this happens. I don't get it, could she be using him? She can't be in love with a loser like that! Come on!
Maybe she's not into green grass, and doesn't want to have to climb the fence to find out what it's like on the other side. You never said that she complains about her situation, so why don't you leave her alone? Why can't she be in love with a loser like that? Does love only come in your standards? I must have missed that memo..

| Why would you date a guy like this? Posted: 3/15/2008 9:05:54 AM | You sir, are an open A$$!!
This baffles me! I try and try to show this girl that there's greener grass right in front of her face but she's stuck on this other guy! You are literally trying to tempt her to stray from her relationship, with what you think are greener pastures! Jerk. Perhaps she is intelligent enough to realize that once you see a greener pasture, you while be gone too!
could she be using him? She can't be in love with a loser like that! Come on! Who is the loser here? The guy with the girl that you want or the guy that can't see beyond his own material possesions.? The guy that despite being unemployeed can maintain this womans attention or someone that has nothing to offer besides more money than a broke person? I think that the answer is you are the loser. Both questions. I acknowledge that he may be in a poor position right now, but if he gets a job and some stablilty, he will have solved his problems. You will always be a jackass!
