The other thread seems to have disappeared so I thought I'd start a new one. I found it so inspiring to read about what other people did, especially as there was such a variety. It would be great if people could post here about it again.

One thing: it may have been deleted because of people including things like email addresses or other contact details, so please don't include anything like that here or this thread might disappear too!

As for my kind of art, I like writing (mainly poetry, which I'm focussing on just now), and photography and photo altering. I'd like to do a book of my poetry and photos.

I dabble with paints., mainly on cloth and tile. I have been known to paint on cakes as well. Just gotta use the edible kind.

I love working with stained glass as well. Acquiring my own equipment is on my list of things to get. Nothing like designing a piece on paper and then actually seeing it completed !!!

I write poetry on ocassion, but have to be in the mood to do it.

I've also written the odd short story. They are usually based on an actual event in my life, but I add my own twist to it.

My latest passion is gardening. The satisfaction derived from starting with a blank canvas and seeing the result of much labour come into bloom is unbelievable.

Everybody needs to have a creative outlet of some type.
It can be almost meditative and healing.
I can get lost for hours pursuing what I enjoy.

One of my passions is music. Many years ago I wanted to be an aspiring dance cheoragrapher but I got side-tracked....I've been dancing for many years and I still enjoy it. I have very eclectic tastes in music and enjoy a "wide" range of music not only from the US but other countries as well. I have also "created" (if you will) a style of my own where I - ***Dance with my hands**. I can actually create dance steps with the movement of my arms, hands, and fingers to music. If I'm not able to move with my feet I let my upper body do the dancing for me. It's something I started back in 2001.
I also enjoy listening to drumming and have bought a Djembe drum from North Africa and I enjoy playing it. I sing karaoke as well and I like to write.

I love art of any kind. I find that people who are artisc usually have a greater depth of understanding in life.
I love to create writings, interior design, and most of all cosmetically enhance a person's beauty.
It is the greatest reward to me to see a person happy with themselves or their environment after i've worked with them.
One day I hope to have my own business.

I mostly paint in acrylics now on canvas, I also paint on whatever else I feel inspired to paint on. When I was younger I really enjoyed water colour and oil pastel.
I also really enjoy digital, and regular slr photography...although I must admit..I'm not as inspired to do SLR as I used to be.
Darkroom rental fees are expensive and difficult to get to + photoshop is so much easier.
I also really enjoy poetry although I'm not as inspired to write as I used to be.

I'm a a professional artist, mostly a painter, but sometimes I do sculpture..My paintings are generally abstract but I also do realism. I began as a kid, drawing and painting at a very young age. I discovered this attracted attention to me, and it was something I could do anytime, and I didn't need anyone else to do it. (I loved horseback riding too, but that could only be done in daylight, and someone had to drive me).As I hit my teen years I began reading up on artists at the library. At about age 14 I met a well known artist ,at the Boston Museum ,who encouraged me. He was an English sculptor I admired. Since then he was knighted by the Queen of England! Since then, I've met thousands of artists, and I've run two artists groups. Now I show all over the world, currently in China. My dream was to make art, to show in museums and galleries around the world, and I've accomplished my goal.I am continuing to develop my work ,and now I want to open a museum for abstract art, bringing artists from many countries together,

I've been creating abstract, large-scale sculpture for about 10 years and have been doing it full-time for 6 now. Most of my stuff is stainless steel and bronze, but I've also used stone and glass. I have my own studio 50' from my front door and I couldn't imagine doing anything else!!!

Oh, lately I've been working on a new series that is still quite sculptural in nature, but are created for indoors; I've been painting abstract paintings onto the steel.

Oh, and poetry.

Oh, and I have a yet-to-be-published novel on my bookshelf.

Oh, and, talk about CREATIVE... you should see my 2007 Federal Tax Return.

I actually do long form improv. nothing like jumping on stage in front of a large group of people and not having a clue what you are going to do for the next hour. It's great having to think on your toes so much!

Some sketching...some pastels, which I find are messy. I like digital art and building websites but just don't have the $$$ to invest in quality programs. Arts an expensive habit. I do enjoy photography and working with photo-shop type programs. But my main form of art is music and performing arts - love it love it love - there is no better way to express yourself, it's great therapy too.

Painting and photography mainly. Have just finished a commission of three pictures for someone, and am now starting to get things together for an exhibition at some point this year. have done some pop art style portraits for my commision but my style is usually abstract, and i have sold some of my pictures recently.

Have tried writing a few times, and am working alongside a friend to start work on a couple of short films shortly, he has been trying to get something together for a while and now we have decided to make some short films before starting on a big project once time and money allows to take on suck a big task.

I have been an artist for 20 years or so. On and off.
Abstract at first, but later I fell into comic book art, then eventually fetish art. The fetish stuff sells well when I do it.
I have done many types of art in many medias.
Lately I have only been working on my really poorly draw stick figure cartoon. It is intended to be offensive and sick. However also funny. It even has a myspace/What_Will_God_Say If ya wanna check it out. It is not work safe and often has topics involving sex, racist, political, social, poor child rearing, and animal abuse. I even combine the topics.
My "real" art, like the fetish or automobile stuff can be seen upon request.

I've been writing songs for about 15 years and playing guitar for about 16. Mostly acoustic stuff along with some metal and blues. I used to play piano when I was a kid along with violin and saxaphone. I've couldn't play any of them today although I wish now I would've never quit. Piano jazz is awesome. I also play bass and drums. I dabble in drawing and photography too.

The lyric's - I read them and I can't believe what I'm writing about > somebody - freak me out. I need some feedback just to see DO YOU READ WHAT I READ.

HA! I've got you so beat, Craig... My LIFE is a continuous long-form improv... now if I would only start receiving some pay for my inspired work, life would be GREAT.

I'm a published author and graphic artist. I've had several books contracted by small presses, which even allowed me to do the covers (and eventually hired me for the art department!). I'm in school now for graphic design. I prefer digital art, with Photoshop, Painter, Illustrator, etc, to hand-drawn art. I love photomanipulation. If you're interested in seeing my work or my books, email me from my profile and I'll send you my links!

I've taken every type of art class imagineable... from life drawing, to intaglio to sculpture.. I've done it all and enjoy everything. Since I have a pictoral arts background, I thought drawing and illustration was the 'real art' not the case anymore. Every type of art has it's merits and is fun and techincal at the same time when you take it seriously. My choice of medium is graphic design because it incorporates everything, from typography to photos and illustrations. It can cross into web, advertising, and motion graphics. I like the fact that it makes you think about being conceptual before doing the artwork by hand or computer.

I am a self-employed artist working in the field of Decorative Arts. This is a multi-faceted area and my work is comprised of painting fine art on canvas, Trompe L’oeil, Murals, and custom decorative finishes for residential and commercial clientele. My favorite style of art is Realism, but I have done other types depending upon the needs of the client. I use various types of media for the same reason. I not only work on canvas, but on just about any surface as well (walls, floors and fine furniture). I enjoy my work and take great pride in the process. I travel throughout the U.S. as requested, but lately I have been spending much time in downtown Chicago.

It's great to see there are other artists on this site.

Well I majored in art in college and couldn't pick a concentration and I still don't really know what I want to do! But I've narrowed it down to a couple things: I love photography, but I'm so old school. I have a 1970s minolta that I usually use, but it needs to be fixed. And currently I don't have access to a darkroom and I have a pretty sucky digital, so yeah...I also love using holga cameras, but again-no darkroom. I also love to paint, mostly oil and watercolor. I love working with clay as well and I want to learn how to use a pottery wheel at some point.

My primary focus is on acting and music (guitarist/songwriter).

I used to draw and paint as a kid, and I find myself being drawn (no pun intended) to pick it up again...sketching with pencils and charcoal, and oil painting. My favorite styles for painting seem to be abstract and impressionism.

I enjoy photography, but haven't actively pursued it in recent years.

I've dabbled in poetry, but I'm no Keats. I've done a bit of creative writing as well, mostly fantasy. I remember doing a collection of short stories for a project in high school. Up until then, my teacher had only seen essays for which I had no passion or inclination to do well. He said my stories were so good, and so unlike any writing he'd seen from me, that he could only conclude that I had plagiarized them and gave me an F. I had to meet with him outside of class and it took an hour and a half to show him where I got my inspiration from. He actually was a good teacher and I believe he cared about me, and he did finally apologize and gave me an A in the end. But I'm sure you can imagine how the experience effected me as a creative person for quite a while. Anyway, I'm all better now. ;)
