| Ghosts, Ghouls, Spirits!
Posted: 3/17/2008 7:52:51 AM | | Hi all, just wanted to share my experiences of the supernatural as I was a total non-beliver until I went to bonnie Scotland a few years ago. Myself and my ex partner travelled from northern ireland to Ayr then across to Edingburgh up to Aberdeen then pass the lovely Loch Ness (didnt see the monster though) and we ended back in Ayr. Thats where it happened. It was January and I didnt realise that Scottish evening occur at least an hour earlier before Belfast nights draw in. So by four o'clock it was pitch black and we needed to find a B&B. Near the harbour there are some georgeous Scottish Victorian houses and one of them was a hotel. Fed up looking for a place to rest and wanting a bath (we had driven all morning and afternoon) I decided that we should stay. Anyways, during our one night stay after my ex left me to soak in the bath before coming down to dinner I felt something or someone was watching me. The tap kept dripping (even though I had turned it off) so feeling a bit apprehensive of being on my own I quickly got dried and dressed and went to dinner. Later on that evening we both fell into bed exhausted. However, I awoke during the night to what felt like something was blowing in my ear (im a deep sleeper and a bomb could go off and Id still sleep through it -family joke). So I was shocked, stunned and afraid to see a ghost gliding towards me from the bedroom door. He looked like he had a white wig on and he seemed to have a twinkle of mischiveous in his eye. Well, I was petrified and threw the blankets up over my head. What did this spirit decide to do but SIT on my feet at the end of the bed. I thumped my ex to awaken which he grumpily did lol..and he turned the bedside light on. Which of course the spirit had gone by then...I never did find out about that ghostly spirit but I made sure I wasnt left alone in that room...he seemed to be a bit of a womaniser, even though his appearance wasnt scary he certainly put the fear of god into me...Am I a believer in the spirit world, yes but only if I cant explain it factually. | |

I can't tell you whether it was the spirit of someone who died or if it was an astral projectionist. You say you were able to make out what he looked like; was he wearing clothing that seemed out of date? Chances are it was someone who died.
Maybe it's best that you didn't make it with him. He might have started following you around and become a real pain in the ass. | |

The spirit didnt come across as nasty or frightening but I think he got a kick out of scarring me by showing himself to me lol...cheeky wee bugger..an experience that I hope wont be repeated.  | |

But do you realise how ridiculous people think you are when you try to explain this?
Disbelievers will always try to go against it.
You probably have a laugh with them to begin with but are ultimately frustrated becuase the responses you get are - well you were in a victorian house, it was windy, it was dark, the taps aren't great - basically anything to prove that it was your imagination or you were halucinating.
That is exactly how i feel when i try telling people about God. Although i have not seen him as vividly as you saw the spirit, i have experienced some rather facinating experiences where God gets to me through people.
There is a spiritual world and there is a creator behind everything. | |

With that said, I do not believe in ghosts or the spiritual realm creeping into our own realm. Ghosts and the like are a figment of the imagination. | |

Posted: 3/22/2008 12:40:28 PM | I had too had a ghostly encounter by a civil war confederate soldier B&B Gettysburg, PA.
I was awaken late by a loud knocking on the wall behind my bed/ 2nd floor hallway. , my son,niece, shared room too, but no one in hall, we had the floor to ourselves, owners go home after 6pm also. Back to bed, got chilled to the bone, felt an icy finger stroke my leg, then the covers flew up in the hair, honest, I screamed! All night long he banged and opened, closed cupboard doors. The next night I prayed and kept my cross on all night instead of leaving it off, no problems, all was calm. Not my first encounter, I too saw a full body ghost with 4 other siblings as a child, that's another story, lived in old schoolhouse, she still thought she taught. | |
