Is there any way I can disable the latest matches email I get. It's cluttering up my email something fierce. I just would like to *just* receive an email if I get a message
Tnx Cribbage
PS: I really hate to pad this thread with xs but you have a forum protection option where there's a minumum number of letters and this is a ligitimate thread
This week the "Latest Match" email made me wonder about security. The email contains your login password (and always has for as long as I could remember). With all of the hackers combing the net for email addresses and account info, shouldn't we be concerned about emails being periodically sent from a site which contains information on how to breach it?
If you are using Gmail you can create a filter to have the weekly matches email automatically sent to the trash.
When viewing the weekly matches email in Gmail, from the More Actions drop-list select Filter messages like these. On the next page, in the Subject field, enter "~username~ New matches for" where ~username~ is your username on POF. Click Next Step. Then, select Delete it, then Create Filter and you're done.

Actually Gmail, Yahoo and other Spam filters block email from Plentyoffish by default as the email does not comply with the CAN-SPAM Act. The violation was even confirmed above by a moderator stating that there is no way to opt out of the email.
That is why when you sign up there are instructions how to view the email from POF in your spam folder for a Yahoo account.
Gmail ... Spam filters block email from Plentyoffish by default
Unless some Changes have been made very recently, G-Mail does not block Plentyoffish Mail by default.
the email does not comply with the CAN-SPAM Act.
Nonsense. The My Matches Mail-Outs are sent only to People who have signed up here for Dating and have agreed to the Terms of Service when they first created an Account.
The CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 is neither infringed upon nor applicable in Canada, where the Mails originate from.
By making a Profile you agree to receive the Mails and that hardly constitutes Spam, since its not "Unsolicited".

Not sure what the terms of services state but they do not supersede the law.
POF emails are not transactional based, thus must comply with the CAN-SPAM act.
There is no physical address of the sender contained in the email. There is no "opt-out" method contained in the email.
Thus the email does not comply with the act.
Also there is a continuation of emails after the account is closed. I am aware of this as I can see the SBL and XBL returning false results and the subsequent complaints that they are linked to.
Google as well uses a "learned" system along with others and much like Yahoo, now blocks POF emails by default.
Simple things to resolve and hopefully will happen in the future.
Not sure what the terms of services state but they do not supersede the law.
Nothing to supercede as there is no Conflict.
POF emails are not transactional based, thus must comply with the CAN-SPAM act.
And they are in full Compliance. This is Canada, the Guys who invaded the US and burned down your White House in 1812 before we resumed building our Igloos along the arctic Ice Shelf.
There is no physical address of the sender contained in the email.
It comes from customerservices@plentyoffish.com Since you have agreed to receive them, its a moot Point. There are plenty of Links incl. how to contact the Admin and Site. Its a Non-Issue, technical at best, and not applicable here anymore than Nigerian Anti-Scamming Laws.
There is no "opt-out" method contained in the email.
Right here, per your Agreement with the TOS, that's your "opt-out" »» Account Deletions. Thus we simply delete your Account if you have Issues with that. Mere Technicalities at best, not applicable here,
and POF is not trying to hide from the World, too easy for you to find and contact us.
Thus the email does not comply with the act.
This is Canada (Here is a nice little Map for you), we have own Laws that specifically addresses the Issues relevant here. This is an International Dating Site located in Canada, and US or any other Country's Legislation such as the "CAN-SPAM Act" has no Bearing on anything.
Also there is a continuation of emails after the account is closed. I am aware of this as I can see the SBL and XBL returning false results and the subsequent complaints that they are linked to.
Possibly only shortly after the Account was terminated for the Deletion to register. The Admin would have to comment on it further.
Google as well uses a "learned" system along with others and much like Yahoo, now blocks POF emails by default.
Mine aren't blocked, and neither are those of a few others.
You agreed to the Terms of Service, consequently you get one email per week from POF. If one email is such a burden, consider creating another email address and use it exclusively for this site, and then just forget about it. Nothing to fix. See post #11
