| 2nd Annual Alberta POF Biker Meet in Red Deer, Saturday, May 10/08 Posted: 3/18/2008 5:15:40 PM | (Check back regularly for updates.)
I'm getting this thread going now but the information contained here within will be in a state of flux as the plans progress, and ultimately, as we approach the day, be primarily influenced by mother nature.
The plan is to host two separate brunches in the morning in both Edmonton and Calgary. Brunch between 10:30am-noon. Putz around the staging area for abit to refill, last minute check-list of group ride procedures for my group (for those unfamiliar with group rides guidelines: http://files.meetup.com/517728/Motorcycle%20Group%20Riding.htm), designate leader(s) and sweeper(s) dependant on the size of the group as well as getting cell phone numbers of those individuals.
Group rides from both Edmonton and Calgary to eventually meet up at the Donut Mill in Gasoline Alley in Red Deer at 1:30pm-2pm. Hang there for an hour or so to swap stories, inject copious quantities of caffeine and sucrose into our system, and to scare/intimidate lil' children and grandmothers.
All motorcycle riders welcomed. Depending on the composition of the level of experience of the riders, we may or may not break up into two groups. One for the less hooliganish crowd, and one of the ... ummm, more hooliganish crowd.
Disclaimer: All traffic laws shall strictly be adhered to and each rider is responsible for his/her own safety as well as those in their group.
*__* (aka, the original funhog) will lead the Calgary group & has posting privileges on this thread as well to keep the CGY guys updated.

Addendum: For those expressing an interest in going as a passenger, a longer-ish trek like this one (1 hr +) is not one that I would advise for a 1st time passenger. Unless you've ridden as a passenger before, you have no idea as to what your body's limitations are (ie. knees starting to ache after 30 mins, foot cramps, etc.) I don't want to disuade anyone's enthusiasm for experiencing the satisfaction of two-wheeling freedom, but 1st time passengers should state this fact and if someone is willing to take them (and potentially having to stop for "get off the bike to stretch out the legs, etc kinda breaks & not riding with the main group), then they should be aware of this potential.
March 28/08 update: The Edmonton brunch will be at White Spot Restaurant, 3921 Calgary Trail and there will be no reservations made. Show up if you want to brunch first by 10 am. I will attempt to be there for 9:50am so just look for bike(s) and biker clad people once you get inside.
If you do not plan to join us for brunch, then the staging and refueling site meet will be at 12 pm at the Petro-Can across from the Ivory Club (2520 Calgary Trail). Please be fuelled and ready to leave by 12:20pm.
Calgary riders (here's the info from *__*, your group leader): meet at Humpty's on Mcknight Blvd and Edmonton Trail from 10-12 for breaky then at 12 we head north to Red Deer for a 1:30-2:00 rendevous with our Edmonton friends.

| 2nd Annual Alberta POF Biker Meet in Red Deer, Saturday, May 10/08 Posted: 3/25/2008 9:54:25 PM | Would be very, very interested; however, no bike, but do travel. Have been on poker bike runs down in Montana and I would be very interested; IF, I could be a passenger to alonesome charley that rides by the rules. I do know how one is suppose to rolle/rumble, etc. in the event of a collision; BUT, would like to meet my partnerIF this is possible beforehand.
Greast time I am sure.

| 2nd Annual Alberta POF Biker Meet in Red Deer, Saturday, May 10/08 Posted: 3/27/2008 9:12:29 PM | ^^ Hey Moto Guzzi Rider !
Thanks for the offer but no give away prizes are required. I think the opportunity to get in a decent ride and meet other like minded individuals who share the same passion of two-wheeling it is more than incentive enough to attend.
Great to see the interest thus far. If any non-riders wants to contact some of the posted attendees for a ride, by all means, contact them individually and make the arrangements.
Here's to hoping mother nature cooperates for that day !
