Things you actually believe in, but may not fly with the PC people. Stuff that may offend some, and that you happen to keep to yourself unless amongst friends.
(I.e: Believing abortion should be a right. Believing gay parades are the most annoying thing, ever, and so on). Those aren't my opinions, but i'm just giving an example.

We all have controversial opinions. I'm curious to know what yours are.

Annnd go!

A few of mine.
I feel rapists, pedophiles and any other sexual predators, should be sterilized. You shouldn't be allowed to breed, or go through the potential of doing so.
To add to that, I feel they should be known to everyone in their neighborhoods for the remainder of their lives. Not just 20 years.

People should stop bashing fast food joints. If you're eating 3 big macs a day, and doing so while in your car to drive up to the restaurant..odds are, thats half of your weight problem right there.

Rap videos should be uncensored on TV. I mean, if you're going to talk in derogatory fashion, wouldn't censorship defeat the purpose of even airing the video? Well, makes it seem hypocritical to me. Kind of like selling crack to kids, but putting them in pretty pink bags with cartoon characters on them, while telling them to stay in school as you make the sale...

Some of my not politically correct opinions are...

- Legalize drugs and treat the drug problem as a health issue, not a criminal issue.

- Legalize prostitution and regulate it. Severely crack down on the johns who frequent illegal prostitution operations as well as the pimps.

- Term limits for Congress.

- Abolish the IRS and replace it with a flat tax.

- No one on government assistance should be allowed to vote while on that assistance. They should not have a say in how much of other people's money they receive.

- Forced birth control of people on welfare. Don't want to use the birth control, that's fine, they will just cut off your benefits.

- Incarcerate dead beat parents who do not pay child support.

Ilegion has some very good ideas - and some very bad ones. But that would be the topic of not one, but several other, and rather long, threads.

Here are some of mine:

- Selfishness in NOT a moral defect, but is absolutely necessary for human survival;

- Mandatory school attendance and child labor laws should be abolished. We warehouse children in the reservations (a.k.a. "public schools"), removed from the real world. Real responsibility would do them good;

- Vaccines do more harm than good;

- HIV is a harmless virus, falsely accused of causing AIDS;

- And the most controversial of them all: if two people really like one another, there is no reason on Earth to wait until third date (let alone marriage) to enjoy making love, and there is no reason to feel dirty or guilty afterwards, either.

Now I can go to bed with the calm knowledge that I made enough people angry....

I think all humans should undergo some sort of intelligence screening, and those who fall below a certain level should be sterilized so that they aren't allowed to produce Darwin children (although the generations certainly do provide a lot of entertainment). Seems that most Americans have to pass a test to do a lot of things or be a certain age to do a lot of things, except procreate.

I believe families should recieve a voucher for public schools for each child they have and take it to whatever school they feel is best for their child, regardless of district (or city/town, for that matter). It'd shake things up a bit and make schools more competitive, and perhaps inspire some of the schools to get up to standard in order to guarantee that vouchers would be spent with them, not a school across town.

I also think that we should take all max security prisoners and draft em to front lines in the war. If they die fighting, we have more room here and stop paying for meals for inmates that'll likely never be released; if they're as hard as they should be they should be able to create a good amount of damage against the enemy, and arrangements could be made when the war's over to revisit their case files. If they defect, they won't be defecting here - let the country we're at war in deal with em.

Finally, who's to say that everything the government tells us is up to standards and regulations really is? Who sets the standards, and who watches them closely to be sure it's followed? Perhaps there are a bunch of rich people somewhere getting us to react by planting things in our system that look accidental (certain diseases, certain economic highs and lows) with the hopeful outcome of us spending a lot of money. That's a far out one, eh?

My most controversial opinion is the United States is going down the shitters and we are witnessing the fall of an empire and the only person that can remotely save them is Barack Obama (although I prefer Denise Kucinich but he's treated like shite by the US media). I'm saying Obama can save you because he said if we was elected, he would revisit all the bills that Bush vetoed among other things. It just boggles my mind how complacent/ignorant/apathetic/stupid Americans have become.

If I were to find my country:

- falling into a recession
- become China's biatch (the US owes China a shite load of money)
- be in a war it can't afford
- be in a war that was based on lies (the Pentagon said there was no connections between Iraq and Al-Qaeda)
- seeing a housing market collapse due to inept policies
- tried to start a war with Iran (and is still trying)
- decided that water boarding is acceptable by the CIA
- voted for a bill that would give immunity to telecom companies so that they can spy on you
- implemented the Patriot Act
- etc.

I would be rioting in the streets. Nixon was brought down for a lot less than GW Bush but most US citizens don't give a shite! Yeah calling the majority of Americans ignorant and stupid doesn't fly well.

DEATH ROW // Death Penalty:
People on Death-Row should be shot, not put in prison for 10 years, given three healthy and square meals a day, with a television, books, radio, etc... all the finer things in life... and then killed in a "peaceful and painless" slow way years after everyone has nearly forgotten about their crime. Do you know how much money it takes to keep a person incarcerated on Death-Row for a year??? Over the course of their incarceration, we dump millions on each individual... and then the execution; lethal injection. So they brutally and mercilessly kill some innocent person, the target of their violence, and the criminal gets a nice cozy chair to wait for the grim-reaper in??? **** that!
You know how a person could best serve this country??? Walk into Death-Row and shoot every single person there, they'd save the country millions of dollars. Of course... they'd soon be incarcerated and put on Death-Row themselves, but they'd have three square meals a day, television, radio, family visits, and the finer things in life... for 10 years. Then, lethal injection; the person would die painlessly.
Save the country millions of dollars, spend 10 years in a maximum-security hotel with meals provided... and a nice painless end = national hero.
(((of course, in my world that person and his/her children would be sterilized too)))

Simply: Gulty verdict... time to appeal... not successful: death by firing-squad. $.3 for a bullet = millions of taxpayer dollars saved.

CASTRATE/STERILIZE Violent Criminals:
Most criminals should be castrated or sterilized. This list would include violent murderers, intentional cop-killers, pedophiles, and rapists. In extreme violence cases, their children should be castrated and sterilized as well; to prevent violence from being passed on to what would be the future's "less violent" gene-pool.

Many people say "you can't prove that aggression or violence are genetic" and I say bullshit to that. It has been proven in animals (and we are animals) that when you breed the less violent, their offspring are less prone to violence. This has been done with arctic foxes, and even physical changes occurred in those animals. Their tails curled up, they became more friendly, and became more like dogs. I do believe it is cruel but in cases of extreme violence, an entire genetic line should be sterilized. It is my opinion that there will be far too many people on this planet in the future to allow violence-prone genetics to reign free... And for those who would ask, "What if it happened to you, on account of yourself or your children." I'd believe it to be necessary for the betterment of mankind, and that is a worthy cause.

The one I'm still thinking about... should people with genetic illnesses be sterilized as well?
I can't convince myself to say yes.

OSAMA BIN LADEN:
Should be given a sex-change, and then raped by the gang of male Saudis from the "Qatif Girl" Rape Case. You remember that story??? Then, Osama should be whipped for being the victim and then asked "How do you like your people now, still love your extremist Saudi ****heads???" And then, he should be taken back here to America where he should be hanged from... lemme think... either a tree in front of the White House, or from the White House balcony itself.

Then, as a slap in the face to radical Islam, we should entomb him and make his remains a national monument; just keep reading. His coffin sould be made of American Redwood, covered with the American Flag recovered from the WTC site, then covered with American cement; and stamped with "Made In The USA" on the top. The cement should be set in a 10 foot deep circular pit at the World Trade Center site or even in Ground Zero. On top of the block of cement containing his unholy remains, should be a 20 to 30 foot tall statue of him (either of stone from Mount Rushmore's rubble-pile, or of the same marble that we make our national monuments out of); the kind of statue he'd want of himself. Except that this statue would be exactly, and I mean EXACTLY a "stone's throw" away from the outside edge of this pit. There would be a rail, and outside this rail should be "flowerbeds" with the busts of each of the 9-11 hijackers in the center. Instead of flowers in these flowerbeds, there would be rocks; nice palm-sized black rocks.

Americans could then make our own holy pilgrimage on 9-11 to the Bin Laden National Monument to take up stones and throw them at the Bin Laden statue, like muslims during the Hajj... (((ramy al-jamarat // stoning of the jamarat))) These stones would then be scooped up by United States Marines who would guard the site 24 hours a day like they do at Arlington, and the "flowerbeds" filled again for the next round of stone throwers.

The first to throw these stones should be family members of those who lost loved ones in the September 11 attacks at the Pentagon, Flight 93, and the World Trade Center. The next stones should be thrown by New York's finest, the heroes who worked day in and day out at Ground Zero in a rescue effort... the next, the few survivors; those who made it out. Then the rest of America gets a go at it for the rest of the time that our great country graces this Earth.

I had my fun with that, now it's on to more serious subjects... since that ****head will never be caught.

VOTING:
I think that if you turn 18 during the time a President is in office, you should have been able to vote in the election that elected that person. Let's say that you turn 18 a day after the election, tough luck... you can't vote. You have to live 4 years with that person as President, if a military draft is called up... guess what - you're in it!!! I don't believe that is fair at all. So, if you turn 18 during a President's term... you should have been able to vote in the election that made that person President.

DECRIMINALIZE Cannibus:
I also believe that marijuana should be decriminalized, not legalized. If it was specifically legalized, nobody could stop you from smoking it; or refuse to hire you if you smoked it. This would include government positions, and that would be bad in my opinion. If it were decriminalized, certain businesses could choose not to hire smokers of marijuana and that would be fine in my opinion. If you want to smoke it, you certainly can look for work elsewhere.

AUTO-INSURANCE:
It should not be a legal requirement that you have auto-insurance. It is ridiculous, in my past I was either paying rent... or auto-insurance; guess which one I chose - rent. I have paid $13,000+ to auto insurance since I started driving... never been in an accident. If I ever get into an accident, I have to pay a huge deductible... and my rates go up. They made $13,000+ off of me and still would raise my rates. Legally required auto-insurance is a black-hole that has burdoned America for too long; it should be a choice not a legal requirement.

INTERNET THREATS:
People who make Spyware and internet viruses should be shot on public television.
My computer is currently infected and no anti-spy can identify and remove it. It sucks!

I could come up with more, but this is it for now.

Ok here is mine . I wanna talk about the people who are pro abortion. I am on the fence but boy do I love to play devils advocate. Everyone pro says it's the woman's right to choose. That the man has no say. Its her body blah blah blah. Cool. But what the men who don't want nothing to do with the kid? What if they want to be cut out of the child's life? If woman have the right to choose being a mother don't men reserve the same right? Its ridiculous if a man doesn't want a kid and that happens they still get stuck with child support. They should be cut out of the child's life forever if they choose to do so. No contact FOREVER. I'm over this only woman can choose nonsense. Lets level the playing field. Men can't have the abortion so what do you think... I am just gettin something started..

So far I've seen no controversial opinions, only slightly radical ones.
You want controversy ? I'll give you some controversial opinions.

Upon graduating High School, all the boys and girls choose each others name out of a hat and are required to have sex with whoever they choose at random. In private of course. Everyone must sacrifice their virginity upon graduation as a right of passage.

All school children should be forced to say a prayer every day they are in school all the way through High School. By the time they graduate they will be so sick of it organized religion will become extinct from lack of interest and general disgust.

Bring back the graduated income tax ! Force those corporations which have gained the most from the opportunity this country has given them to pay back something. In times of war or national emergency we expect our youth to submit to being drafted. The rich and the corporations should be expected to return something back to our society as well, not just take advantage of it.

Whenever Congress declares a war, the able bodied children of every congressman must submit to being drafted and serve in combat, no exceptions.

All children should be forced to work in a public service job for at least 2 years, like a fast food restaurant or something working with the public. Getting a good idea of what the general public is really all about would go far in bringing back civility to our society.

Anti Abortion groups should be forced to pay for the support of all the unwanted children they don't want aborted until they are adults. Otherwise shut up about it.

College education should be free of charge and publicly supported. Entrance to University should be based upon aptitude and performance only. Only the best and brightest students get into the best schools.

Give us single payer, government sponsored health care, like the rest of the civilized world. It's going to happen sooner or later, just go ahead and do it. Politicians who continue to kiss the butts of the insurance industry are only putting off the inevitable.

1. Every problem that is attributed to other people could be solved by imposing a moratorium on blame.

2. To own more than enough while children starve is a crime against humanity.

3. Most people are woefully undereducated compared to their potential, and it's OK to find the result amusing.

Every single American should be trained in the safe usage and proper handling of firearms by the age of 18. Once you have displayed your proficiency, the government would issue you a sidearm and long rifle/shotgun along with a permit to carry. Every qualified American would be armed and trained to use them should the need arise. A lot less crime in our cities, and a large deterrent from any form of invasion.

My most controversial opinion would be that the center of the sun is COLD.

I think that medical marijuana should be totally legalized. Decriminalizing pot is a good idea as well. Drug abuse should be considered a health care issue.

We should be focusing our law enforcement efforts on nabbing violent criminals so that they can be locked up for the remainder of their lives with NO chance of parole, another not politically correct view. Rapists, murderers and child molesters should have ONE STRIKE and you are OUT. NO Three strikes and you are out. Rapists, murderers and child molesters, once caught, should have NO chance to reoffend. Lock them up!!

I think spammers should be hung by their private parts and left to die!!!

Not really my most controversial opinions, but certain topics that certainly heat things up on forums, debates and discussions and are topics to steer clear of in everyday conversations if arguments or confrontations concern you.
If you cant stand the heat then get out of the kitchen.

My Top Ten.

Religion
Race and racism
Immigration
Politics
Global warming/climate change
Conspiracy theorists
Single parents
Welfare handouts
Are women who smoke far more promiscuous

This could be fun, in a slightly twisted way. Here's a few of my personal favorites...

Flat tax: 10% for everyone, no paperwork, no exemptions, no credits, no refunds, nothing. Everyone, personal or corporate pays the same percentage.

Death Penalty: 9 month appeal time limit, televised on pay-per-view, proceeds split between victim's family and prison system, no more lethal injection; bullet, hanging, or old sparky. Prison inmates perform work for benefits in prison. All work paid at reasonable rate, inmates "pay out" for room and board, any extras like health care, medicines, TV, etc. Excess in funds go to victim or returned to system to provide for older infirm prisoners. No early release, all sentences served for full term. *errors in sentencing or wrongful imprisonment will be returned to those who imposed original, and THEY fill serve the entirety of the wrongful sentence.

Public Service: 2 year mandatory military or public service after high school (age 18 to 20) for everyone.

Politically active (protests, electioneering) churches (of any denomination) or their Priests, ministers, etc lose all tax exempt status.

Firearms: Mandatory safety training from age 6, optional use and operations training from age 13. Single standard Carry permit (like driver's license) valid in all states and territories.

Time limit for welfare, mandatory drug testing before check or benefits are issued. Testing positive for drugs causes immediate loss of benefits.

heh heh heh... this WAS fun. Thanks, OP. Nice diversion on a too-cold snow-filled day you deserve a couple of for the thought.

Controversial opinions... I have so many... well, here are a few that have got me into the most hot water.

-Capital punishment for premeditated murder, rape, and drunk driving causing death.
-Drunk driving should be punished with confiscation of the car, a prison sentence of not less than two years, and lifelong revocation of the driver's license. That's for a first offense.
_When driving drunk, since, regardless of your opinion of your capability, you knew you'd been drinking when you got into the car, all actions should be considered deliberate; there are no accidents. If you hit something, it's willful property damage, and if you hit a person, it's attempted murder.
-Censorship in any form should be illegal.
-Marijuana should be legal.
-Abortion, where not medically necessary, is murder, and should be treated as such.
-Americans should recognize that their President is NOT the "leader of the free world." The free world neither needs nor wants American "leadership."
-Schools should teach practical skills. How much sense does it make that a high school graduate can solve a quadratic equation (which, by the way, is something I haven't encountered once since graduation) but hasn't learned to balance a chequebook?
-Political candidates should be permitted to run only in the riding/ward in which they reside. If you can't convince your neighbours to vote for you, maybe they know something the rest of us don't.
-All flat taxes (sales taxes, etc.) place an unfair burden on the poor, and should be abolished. Let the wealthy pay their fair share, it's about time they did.
-Capitalism should be abolished.
-All for-profit corporations should be abolished.
-The "War on Terror" should begin with a campaign against the largest single sponsor of terrorism that has ever existed: the US government.
-To indulge in "politically correct" speech should constitute legal proof of mental retardation.

People who are on welfare..should have a limit of how long they can be on it...and how many kids they can have while be on welfare...

If you are going to have a kid..you have to be able to pass a parental class...

Pot should be legal(i dont do drugs) but if someone wants to smoke pot..its their business.

If you rape a woman, rape a kid...that person's family should be able to have 10 mins alone with you in a room.

I think the Suicide Booth from "Futurama" should be in every city.

I think it should be illegal to for a woman to have more than one child(just like in the movie "Fortress")

Bullets should cost $5,000 each

Raise the price of gas to $3.33/Litre

Bring back the Guillotine and the Gallows

Im basically for anything that will make the traffic go faster and less congested

One of my most controversial opinions is that marriage should be a religious ceremony only. Unions whether between a man and a woman or same sex partners should be civil and instead of writing emotional vows two people should be required to write a civil union or partnership contract. It should outline who will do what, who will pay what and who will get what if the partnership is dissolved. I think it would slow the divorce rate (dissolution rate) considerably. Those who also want a religious ceremony go for it. As things are now you can make up your mind to marry in five minutes and you are required to accept a generic contract that your state of residence has created for you.

I think I should be able to decide who gets to have kids and who doesn't. My views on fathers being able to walk away from a pregnancy if they want to isn't very well-liked. My opinion on welfare seems to be semi-popular. My opinions on use of animals as commodities isn't very popular, but usually relatively respected.
