"…when we all wake up on Nov. 5, 2008, to find that we have made Barack Obama the president of the United States, the world is already going to feel, to all of us, a little different, a little truer to its, and our, better nature. It is part of the world's nature and of our own to break, ruin and destroy; but it is also our nature and the world's to find ways to mend what has been broken. We can do that. Come on. Don't be afraid."
~Michael Chabon, Washington Post. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/03/AR2008020302526.html)

"What we fear comes to pass more speedily than what we hope." ~ Publilius Syrus - Moral Sayings (1st C B.C.)

I see the political campaign poet elves are baking their delicious cookies. Yum.

The future looks bright, indeed. I may beam with giddy hope at any moment. Oops, nope, farted instead.

Whichever president gets elected, it will make very little difference. The most realistic expectation is that we will get more of the same.

Also, Publilius Syrus has a very valid point.

obama is no different than hillary and mccain is no different than them, when will people wake up? republicans and democrats are the same, they say different things to keep us divided but in the end the results are the same.

i have 1 request of all people. look into the CFR (council on foreign relations) almost every elected official is a member, and yes that includes obama, hillary and mccain. it doesn't matter which gets elected, we will get the same result, endless war in iraq and an invasion of iran. a dollar thats worth next to nothing, and ever disappearing civil liberties.

the CFR states their desire for 1 world government........if that doesnt scare people into opening their eyes then i dont know what will.

CFR's own website talking about bringing about 1 world government:
http://www.cfr.org/publication/9903/sovereignty_and_globalisation.html

article on the NAU (north american union).....part of the CFR's plan to bring about 1 world government.

http://www.naturalnews.com/z022707.html

look into it, do your own research on the CFR, i think it might frighten you at what you will find.

I think it would give a boost to our self-esteem and our image around the world if he is elected. Of course, there's still 30% who would go out and vote for Bush again so not everyone will see it the same way. I still can't believe Bush was elected once, let alone TWICE. We are not a nation of smarty pants.

American politics....hmmmmm. This has turned into a CNN reality show with worldwide consequences.

Who will win....who will get the public vote.....are the Super delegates going to turn the house upside down. tune in Wednesday night for Elections 2008.

By the way, did you notice that when you elect a democrat the economy is fixed, you are out of debt, you don't have war, your kids are not getting killed for the oil companies (see; "American interests"). and the price of oil ALWAYS goes up under the Republicans.

Canada has higher unemployment, higher taxes, Gas $4.50 a gallon and has a Fantastic economy. Oh yes, a medical system that takes care of it's citizens the best it can. If a politician screws up they are called up and are accountable. We even have the right to recall and remove. Now THAT"s democracy.

ALL? Hey, a whole lot of people will be dead that morning. So no matter what happens, some of us will be thinking,
"What the heck? I was asleep a minute ago. Was it the Viagra? Stroke? Heartattack? Is someone going to tell me what happened to this body? Do they serve coffee here? Do I get my own room? OR I am getting a little over heated here. Did I really give my soul to the devil in Saigon? I thought it was a joke.

In general I do not trust politicians. At first I thought favorably of Obama. However it is difficult to believe someone a healer or bringer together of all peoples, who sits and listens to hate sermons every Sunday.

Please keep an open mind remembering that when B. Clinton was in, we not only were at a zero deficit, but in fact a surplus. I like that.

Same bat time. Same bat channel. So true. Pomp, puff and glitter hollywood style all the way. To the max. Comes across more like an acid indigestion reflex to obsession compulsions.

Canada ...If a politician screws up they are called up and are accountable. We even have the right to recall and remove.

And, by gosh, it only takes one weekend convention to determine the head of the party and about 6 weeks to elect the head of state once the election's been called. And we actually count up all the votes for real.

They really should award Emmies for this one though. Best sitcom over the winter for sure. Hmmm. And the winner in the Best Satire category i guess would have to go to the Crying Game when the lady shed her tears when she fell behind early in the dog and pony, erm, i mean, the race.

"""When we all wake up on November 5th, 2008"""
That's kind of a funny statement in and of itself. The "when we all wake up" part. Doubtfully that's going to be happening anytime too soon. (sigh) Is that meant to be like as in wake me up when the sitcom ends, or wake me up when the show is over? Anyway, We'll all still have the rest of our lives in front of us on Novemeber 5th, only our lives will be one day shorter than they were the day before on Novemeber4th. The only 'change' i see is the names and faces of the people hollering they'll be doing a lot of changing. Snorezzzz.

If this is the best three people that could be found to run a nation out of some 330 odd million folks to choose from, I somehow doubt that Nov 5th will be a whole lot different than nov 4th when it comes to some of the real issues facing this once great nation to the south of us.

Just an opinion.

WOW!

Somebody actually knows what they're talking about!

"WE" (the people) won't put anybody in the White House, the corporate elite will, and for all intents and purposes, have already done so by media manipulation and election fraud limiting the "choice" ( don't make me laugh/vomit) of C.F.R. lackies we can vote for.

I just hope true patriots can continue to wake up to fight the New World Order everyday until we defeat Globalism and world enslavement and restore our Republic.

Just a note;
While I think the first post is downright goofy, I really object to seeing so many votes to delete the thread, and any thread.
Whatever happened to FREEDOM OF SPEECH?

PLEASE keep in mind these quotes that ring true;

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." - Voltaire

"Restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions. It is the one un-American act that could most easily defeat us." - Justice William O. Douglas

"Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech."
- Benjamin Franklin

I hope you'll join me in voting to keep this thread from being deleted.

Thanks!

beanzieman,
No betting required, I’ll tell you…
I believe Barack Obama is a national treasure. He is a man of vision and he inspires me.

When was the last time someone inspired you???

I believe he will continue to be a force for unity and change and a better day for America and Americans. He is a man of integrity, character, intelligence, competence and good judgment. He is where he is because he is ambitious, hard-working and persistent, not because anyone handed it to him.

I believe he is a “once in a lifetime” leader and we are beyond fortunate that he is willing to take on the presidency given the current state of our country and the world.

The only way is up and I trust him to help us get where I know we can go!

I believe you are part of the problem, not part of the solution...
but that’s okay, because the bus has already left without you. The good news for you? You too will benefit, even though you aren’t contributing. In the end, you always have Costa Rica.

I think its great that you have hope. But you really should research Obama more, if you think he is concerned about you or your relations you are greatly mistaken unless you happen to be part of the Black Community...the only changes that we will see is more affirmative action, reparations to African Americans, more scholarships to minority students , more funding for inner city schools, more financial aid to Africa, lighter sentencing for criminals, amnesty for the millions of illegals, a North American union, ban on firearms etc...these are all things that he has tried to accomplish throughout his political career.
He worships in an Afrocentric church that states as the mission statement that they are only concerned with the Black Community and Africa...his wife also holds similar views based on her statement about never until now being proud to being American and the thesis she wrote in college...

Very true, and you can tell by the % turn out that they don't care about either.

Who will win....

Doesn't really matter now, though more people hate Hillary than like Obama, and we're Obama to get in and actually try and deal with the rest of the world in a respectful way he'd have a JFK number done on him.

Mostly academic now either way I'd think with the economical and international political state of the country.

The nightmare of the police state will continue.

How ever much I wish you were wrong, I don't think we are, the people wont accept the kind of change it would take to break out of the current direction. There will be no V for Vendetta social revolution here, the people as they are believe what they have is the best in the world, which is the worst part of it in many ways, as the attempt to inflict it on others.

It's a great time to be alive, a sociologist and not live there.

> The problem is, dimsey, the masses of people don't care. They really don't care. As long as they've got Duh Simpsons and the hand-clapping, air-punching, screaming, yahoo Idol to watch on the telly, they don't give a rat's breath what happens in the real world.
> The Council of Foreign Relations? That's light years away from their thinking. The New World Order? Don't make me laugh. The North American Union? Forget it. The Amero? What'cha talkin' about, man? Get back to Duh Simpsons and enjoy life. Watch the farting, spewing, screaming, cussing, gun-toting Homer Simpson and his dysfunctional family and enjoy life.
> Meanwhile, behind the scenes, back at the ranch, the movers and the shakers, including those billionaires, like Rupert Murdoch, who created Duh Simpsons to distract the masses while the real work is going on, are organising our world before our very eyes, and the seething masses cannot see it.

I am not concerned about me or my relations, we are all doing very well thank you. We will continue to do so, that is not true for far too many Americans. McCain's fiscal policies would likely benefit me financially, but that is not my concern. My concern is for my country and the other people I share it with who are less fortunate than myself. There are many of them, white, black, Hispanic, etc. The ranks grow every day while the current administration lines the pockets of oil companies, war profiteers and criminal corporate flunkies that should be shot, not rewarded!

Obama is my candidate and I stand beside him. I am satisfied with his explanations for everything I've had concerns about so far... and let me assure you it is far fewer things of far less seriousness in the scheme of things than the many significant issues I have regarding McCain and Hillary.

I believe the more people get to know Obama, the better his chances are. Sure, there are those who will attempt to Swift Boat him, that's who they are, that's what they do and perhaps they will succeed. It will be a sad day if they do. This country is in a frickin' shambles, sinking deeper every day, largely thanks to the imbecile in the WH.

I may be only one, but I know Obama is a good, decent man with the true best interest of America and most Americans in his sights. The train has left the station...

> Insolent1 inspires me. Read his post and wake up.
> Why would I want a President who focuses mainly on his own ethnic group? Where will that leave the overwhelming majority of people? I am not allowed to say that I am 'proud' to be Caucasian, but he is allowed, encouraged, even praised, when he says he is an Afro-American - a black man. He is praised for being black, and the overwhelming percentage of black people in the US will vote for him, simply because is black. That frightens me.
> Look again at Insolent1's posting:
