I love to use the word mollycoddle!

(But I have to be sure that I only use it around very close friends. It doesn't always go over too well!)

Some interesting ones posted.

My favorite words are the ones that express my thought(s). I'm not trying to be cute here, its just that many times you want the word(s) to express a particular something.

Still, it is kinda fun to use a cuss word in a foreign language.

There are certain words I use allot in my writings.

Avarice. Lovers. Empire.

The reason I like these words is because of the power they have.

I also like the F word. the C word (word meaning female anatomy). These two words are probably the most severe, there is plenty of venom behind them. I like words that grab you, whether in a good or a bad way, and these two can do it.

I find old-fashioned terms, phrases, and sentence structures that my Grandma and her friends used funny. I still use them to this day and laugh because it reminds me of her and the many hours I spent in her company listening to her talk with her friends on the phone or while she was cooking in the kitchen. Stuff like:

"Mabel... if Miss Elsie had been givin' that boy the hiney whuppins he deserved, he wouldn't be settin' up in no pokey right 'bout now.

"MAREENA... if you don't stop listenin' up on grown folks conversations you 'bout better. Better yet ...go outside girl and get some fresh air! You spend too much time all up under grown folks bein' nosey!"

Another word that I find funny is "beverage." I don't think I have ever in normal converstion, except when someone is being funny, heard anyone say to a waiter: " excuse me...can we order some beverages...please."

Words I wonder about - the harshest hardest most insulting ones refer to female anatomy or our pleasantest occupation. As for 'rape' - the only people entitled to use it are those who have experienced it or those writing for them.

I like so many of those above it is hard to remember more (senior's moment) but floccinaucinihilipilification comes to mind, and the pandiculation I offer other logodaedaluses (or logodaedali) here.

Thanks for a fun thread with quite a challenge to it.

ambivalent
^ except you can't really use it anymore because people think it means indifferent. I'm trying to save it, one sentence at a time.
