i just read an article in the Lexington Herald Leader Newspaper (lexington ky) about a corn flake, yes a corn flake, that sold on ebay for $1,350.00 it was shaped like the state of illinois... dont know about everyone else, but investing in some small chisels, x-acto knives, and about 50 boxes of cornflakes might be a good investment... maybe we could get some stock investors to kick in some money, and branch out to wheaties and total cereals as well......

I wonder if I can sell my house on Ebay? I've never even gone on Ebay to look at what they have ... too afraid of getting ripped off I guess.

I have a friend who bought an engine for his car from a Chevy taxi, before that the engine came from a police pursuit vehicle and he only paid 600.00 for the whole car.

LOL.. that is Definately quite bizzare! Hope it doesn't get crushed in the shipping! Then it might look like multi states!

-The woman that sold her pregnant belly for advertizing was pretty crazy!

I don't think it was E-bay but this guy traded a RED PAPERCLIP for several things... he just kept trading up and in the end he was a homeowner! Now that is fricken amazing! I wish I could think of something to trade! LOL

A different Ebay story, but humorous just the same.
I bought a digital camera on Ebay just before we left for 5 months in India. It arrived the day after we left! So our house-sitter mailed it. About 2 months later (after putting a trace on it) we get a letter from Customs 'please declare the value of the camera' (which had already been declared when it left the states). So we do, and don't hear anything more. Months later, we return to the states, and the camera shows up at out landlord's back in India! He marks it 'return to sender'. We had given it up as lost, but lo and behold, about two months later it shows up here!
But in the box was only the camera itself. No battery, charger, software CD, USB cable, owners manual, etc. We guess it had been pilfered and sold in Calcutta, but when we put the trace on it, they somehow got it back and sent it along its way.
So being International Express mail, we made a claim for insurance through the post office. They held onto the remains of the package and camera, and in the process of it all, lost it and the paperwork too!
I still get a laugh at the postal service over it. Especially the Indian service.

I've just started getting into eBay (trying to find one of those elusive Nintendo Wii systems bundled with dance dance revolution).

Along my searching I have seen:
-A time machine: looked like a 4-foot high triangle frame; the 'navigation panel' looked like one of those old-style TV converter boxes. Seller was asking for $600.
-Love, fortune, happiness spells/potions/etc scrolls.
-Curses in the form of spells/potions/scrolls/etc.
-Long distance Reiki sessions or a spell cast on your behalf from far away.
-Haunted jewelry.
-Genie in a bottle (I lie not - makes you wonder why the seller doesn't release the Genie for 3 wishes).
-An image of Jesus within a piece of freshly cut firewood.

Each to their own ...

A friend of mine used light brown hair coloring to paint an image of Jesus on a piece of firewood to sell on E-bay. Claimed he got a hundred dollars for it. I saw the photo he took of it. It didn't look like Jesus but the image did appear to of occurred naturally in the wood - at least by the photo, it did. Seemed to me like a lot of work just to con someone out of a hundred bucks.

I liked the "red-neck riding lawnmower"...one of those old push mowers (no motor!) welded to the front of a bicycle. It worked! But jeeze...what a workout!
Also the wind chimes made from beer cans. I am a romantic type and was gonna get these for my sweetie...but she said she prefered if I made them myself...well duh...who got dumb and gave up drinking beer a few years ago? Don't life suck?

I've got a haunted cat....dang thing spooks around here all the time....

rebelinlex,, thanks for putting a THREAD like this up in this forum

(***cotter***) YOU Could Sell Your HOUSE on E-bay-

I LOVE E-bay,To me E-bay is like a woman she takes all my money..oooops,E-bay was invented by a **WOMAN** E-bay was called **AUCTION WORLD** at first- and *A * Woman who invented it NOT ( AL GORE ) But, i think AL GORE would take some credit for it..

Heres a little HISTORY story on e-bay
It was the warm, small town story of a corporate giant's humble beginnings that enticed Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, even the fact-obsessed New Yorker. When Pam Wesley wanted to boost her collection of Pez sweet dispensers, her fiance, Pierre Omidyar, built a website for her to trade them. That website grew to be the huge online auction house eBay, one of the internet Gold Rush's few success stories - even though, in the words of the company's PR chief, Mary Lou Song, it began simply "as kind of a love token".

I have sold a lot on E-bay , and i have boughten a lot of stuff--mostly STAR WARS,action figures I have been collecting Star wars action Figures for 20 some years, but the last 7 years i have been collecting Star Wars action Figures on E-bay-I have gotten a lot of good deals and I have never been SCREWED From some one from E-BAY..You do have to be very care full, their are people out there in E-BAY that will take advantage of you . I DO GIVE E-bay ** 5 stars** i highly recommend E-bay , just to make a few bucks,or even had some thing to your collection,I have even found out that their other collectors in E-bay land that are very picky on how the condition of their collectible is when they buy it from a store--IF you haven't tried E-bay out you should,it will open a new world for you..

"MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU --ALL "

OH-a few years ago I bought an already cooked chicken hen,i started to eat it and i did find the wish bone so , I sold a chicken wish bone on e-bay...

ebay is the devil/angel in one. it sucks the money out of you, but everything is at a very good price (if you know what you're doing).

what i don't get is why people just don't snipe? whats the point of bidding on an item with 5 days left, only to be outbid and start raising the price by going back and forth bidding?

i love/hate ebay. its my favourite/enemy.

There was that cane that sold for crazy money, the grilled cheese sandwich, the haunted stuffed animal, there's no end to the strange things that have sold on ebay.

I liked it alot better when the prices to list items where much lower. But I have sold some stuff over the last five or six years that made me some decent money that I never thought would have.

I sold a bunch of old LP's for more money than I paid for them. I had a bunch of Iron Maiden albums and EP's that brought in some serious cash. One chick in England bought them all and paid big. She even paid over $300 for a wristband I caught and ticket stub from a Iron Maiden concert I went to back in the 80's. I sold a W.A.S.P. album for a $153 bucks.

I've bought a couple boats off ebay and parts to various engines/vehicles and have always had good luck. I've bought a good number of CD's that I got good deals (to me) on. Out of print CD's or others that were only released in other countries can be good deals if you want it.

I just can't believe the people that pay more than retail for crap. But then again I guess it's those ebay-aholics that keep it working.

I bought a rather beautiful charm, an antique one, that was the perfect gift for my l'il sis on her birthday a few years ago. It was one made in Germany, roughly at the time she was a child in the Netherlands, and it was of "The Ugly Duckling".

At the time it was produced, that was her favorite story as a child.

In the intervening years, it had traveled across Europe and an ocean to the USA,then into my hands - then back across the Atlantic to her hands.

Literally decades, and thousands of miles of travel....

As young children in the Netherlands, young girls are given a charm bracelet, as a tradition. That bracelet is used to collect charms from family and friends as they grow older.

That's where my charm sits today.

"...whats the point of bidding on an item with 5 days left...

Common "sniping" tactic. The first bid puts it on my "bidding list," and I get an email alert when it has a few hours left. This helps me keep track of my bids. I see how high the bidding has gone and, if it's still in my target price range, I make my final bid in the last 20 seconds of the auction. You have to be disciplined, determine in advance how much you are actually willing to pay, and not go over it. It's very east to get caught up in a "bidding frenzy" and pay too much. If you watch closely, the bidding gets heated in the last hour, and the bids can double or triple in the last five minutes.

Some auctions use "shill bidders" to artificially pump up the price, you have to watch for this.

I once heard about a piece of toast with some image of Christ or something on it...sold for an unGodly amount! I have seen some odd things...but nothing so mind boggling that they are etched in my memory.

Could one sell their spouse legally? LOL Auction off a date?? LOL

My mother is an Ebay Wh0re...lol...she has the "bidnapper" programs and such, that do the auto bidding at the very last seconds. She also has a waaaay too much sh1t that she hopes to re-sell for profit and this is one thing that I will never understand about her! LOL

This one probably tops most of them. Apparently the final bid for this item was a little over $3000.00

A 27-year-old man is selling his imaginary friend on eBay -- because he has grown out of him.
He has received 14 bids already.
The sales pitch reads: 'My imaginary friend Jon Malipieman is getting to old for me now. I am now 27 and I feel I am growing out of him. 'He is very friendly. Along with him, I will send you what he likes and dislikes, his favourite things to do and his personal self portrait.'
Seller thewildandcrazyoli, from Newport, has received questions including does he mind smokers?
Answer: 'No he does not mind them. But he does not like people smoking right next to him that much. He likes bonfire smoke though.'
And is he single?
Answer: 'Yes he is single at the moment. He used to be a bit of a player (well, a lot of one) but he has out grown that phase and is looking to settle down in a nice relationship.'
A picture of him is posted along with the sales blurb.
The highest bid currently stands at £3.20 with two days left till the auction ends. Postage is free.
Mr Malipieman was not available for comment.
He is thought to be considering his options.

I think the oddest thing I ever saw selling on ebay was some kind of fruit. That looked just like the women's out labia. He was trying to get 20,000 for it. His efforts were fruitless
