POF events reminder

This is a reminder that POF event guidelines forbid any host or hostess from accepting cash directly from attendees. All cover charges and fees should be directly to the venue.

If you attend any event at which the host or hostess is at the door collecting funds, or you know of someone who does this regularly, please let administration or moderators know.

if someone hosts a party & keeps the door would that be against the guidelines?

If so, what if the money is used for bar staff, security, music and to pay the person collecting at the door?

LisaMarie39;
I think that would be a clear conflict of interest, even if you were in the proprietors employ. Not to mention (if not managed properly) that could make you liable (legally responsible for attendees) if someone gets injured or leaves there drunk and injures themselves or someone else.

Unless, your talking about keeping the actual physical door ... then I guess it's up to the management if they wanna let you take it home with you.

Who knows? ... People are always remodeling.

Eric48...thanks for the laugh ~ nope...I don't think the person I was referring to keeps the actual door

The person I was speaking about has posted that she is just hosting the POF event & although she is not physically standing at the door taking the $5.00 cover she is the one responsible for & the one who keeps the $5.00 cover. She is not only hosting POF events on the nights she has her "parties" - she has other " venues" going on at the same time & yes, everyone is charged the $5.00 cover.

I'm not sure if she is renting or leasing the building/club on Saturday nights but she does pay the DJ, the bar staff and the person collecting the entrance fee. She does not work for the owner of the building/club...just holds her venues there.

Thanks once again,

Lisa

It doesn't matter whether or not the host is or is not making a profit, or if the collected cover charge is spent for valid party expenses, POF hosts are NOT allowed to collect funds at all. ONLY venues are allowed to collect funds or to be responsible for finances in any way.

Any host who is discovered or reported to be collecting funds will be suspended permanently from the forums and all planned events by that person will be cancelled.

The rules are quite clear:

If you are associated with the venue you can not host an event there.

As a host/ess you may not collect any fee's from any POF member nor be compensated by the venue for your efforts.

Sounds like she is using a shill... hosting the event and leting someone else collect the cover charge so she looks innocent... don't be fooled. If she is using the money to pay people she is also profiting and that makes it against the rules and she should be reported!

Its hard enough to host events without greedy dumbas*ses ripping people off and screwing it up for everyone else.
