| 55 Years old Widower needs profile review Posted: 3/30/2008 10:50:39 PM | Hello Everyone, Can you please give my profile a looksie? I have been getting some good quality responses, albeit not that many, but there are some problems. Most responses I receive are from ladies who simply live too far away, (I live in NYC and its not easy getting in and out of the city, much less finding a place to park = any NYer knows what this is like). Even to go from Astoria Queens (where I live) to other parts like Brooklyn or the Bronx can be a major endeavor. I have been trying to meet someone who lives closer to home so it will be convenient for both her and me.
Another problem I am encountering is the lack of passion or compassion with many of the NY women I meet, both on this site and in person. I don't know what it is, but there is a certain, shall I call it "indifference" with NY Women. They want to meet someone, and want to meet a nice guy, (not tooting my horn, but I am a nice man). I find "indifference" in how they respond to my ad or when I email them. Worst yet, is the "indifference" during the date and afterwards. The attitude of "oh well, I don't mind being alone" or "I am very independent". Why go out on a date if the first place if one feels this way? I don't know if its just NYers that are like this, or is it like this everywhere? I originally come from Massachusetts and I rarely encountered this "laissez fair" attitude. Maybe it my age group too. I am not sure. Any thoughts?
Thank you in advance for all who respond and my God Bless us all and help guide us to a life of love with that special someone.

| 55 Years old Widower needs profile review Posted: 3/30/2008 11:03:37 PM | I can't really speak to the attitudes of New Yorkers, even though I lived in The City for five years. It *is* difficult to meet any people there; maybe there are just too many of them in one place? It's hard to say. I had to shed a lot of my defences after leaving NYC, but it wasn't easy. (Every now and then I do a "What're YOU lookng at?" for old times' sake.)
Having read your profile, which is quite nice and different, my only quibble would be after perusing your photos that your body type would appear to be best described as "a few extra pounds" and not "athletic." No disrespect intended, just an observation.
Hope this is helpful to you.

You would think a city with over 8 million people would lose some of its "paranoia" . After all, save for the opportunties to make big $$$, what would be anyones reasoning for wanting to live in the "big city". Wouldn't you think it would be because one lover being around people as opposed to living independently. Its quite a dichotomy that I just haven't figured out yet. Perhaps at 55 I am still naive. Who knows?
I take your "quibble" constructively. You are right, I have a few extra pounds that I am "in the process" of losing, (If you have ever read Law of Attraction, by Michael Losier, or the Secret, based upon the theories of LOA), you will have a better idea of what I speak. To be honest, I am athletically built in the manner of a Line Backer in football. I have huge legs and calves. I am in decent shape and told I am in good health, but yes, I need to lose a few. Have you ever watched Football and noticed that quite of few of the players are carring some spare change around the mid section, but however, are in tremendous physical condition and can move like deer in the forest.
If you think it would help me to change it, then I will. However, I have asked women that I know and can trust to give me an unbiased opinion, and most tell me I don't look overweight and that I "carry my weight" well. And a lot of these women are young too, and not afraid to express their minds. I will wait to hear from you. Perhaps Average would be better? Please let me know.
Other than the physique, did you like my profile? Would you respond to it if you were looking in my area? Please give me an honest opinion on that question too.
Thanks for all your help! Greg
