She says she made some bad choices like partying drinking yet it is against her religious values to use contreception. This woman has no car has welfare pay for clothing food and rent but she said if she had a choice she would rather work. Isn't there a point where government should step in and say no more you are taking advantage of the welfare system? | |

They do have a point where they do that. It's as soon as you start working and try to help yourself.
I had family that was on welfare but the second she worked for herself, they took away every bit of help they were giving her. She couldn't afford to live anywhere except with family (where they did not charge her to live) unless she stayed jobless and helpless. | |

Posted: 3/31/2008 7:18:23 AM | We as parents have an obligation to teach our children personal responsibility. This is not a male or female issue but a people issue. Both sexes need to be more responsible with their bodies and each other. What is the role of the father(s), spiritually, financially, and emotionally. The idea that she drinks and parties pretty hard but sites religious reasons for not using contraceptives appears to be a big contradiction. I have to question the ladies religious convictions or maybe she is a bit lazy. The use of contraceptives must be a diligent effort on the part of both sexes.
Though I understand why our government provides some support for children, more must be done to make adults more accountable for their actions without further harming the children. I also know that if there were easy solutions to this problem then we wouldn't be hearing or talking about it as much as we do. | |

Funny, where I leave you need a government permit to put up a pool big enough that has a pump (Those Wally-world $199 ones) a fence, a a dog pen, a DIY 300 dollar shed, firewood sheld,out-house, etc etc etc,
But hey, reach puberty and can spread them and there is no law about how many babies you can make....

The amounts given now are based per child! Some people work the system by 'poppin' them out to continue collecting the money that is being freely given out! If they cannot cope on a capped amount - each member of the family that is capable of working (of legal age) should be working and contributing to the family - to compensate! | |

It was quite sad because she had a decent job, but was dirt poor because of all the extra mouths to feed. She also was one of those 'religious' types who claimed birth control was a sin, but apparently fornication wasn't.
Reminded me of Evander Holifield who had 2 kids from two different women other than his wife (before they got divorced). When asked about birth control he said it was a sin against god. And adultery isn't? WTF!?

More kids.... bigger and MORE checks...Yep, there are actual government programs that you are only eligible once you reach a larger number of children,
Also... When you are applying for government help and the application is geared on a point scale the more children it matters. I.E. each child assigned a point... Just like the EIC on Federal Tax return.

I love it when these welfare whores use their "religious values" as an excuse for their downfall. Pathetic. What do her "religious values" say about screwing every swinging d!ck in town? Bet that mailman has "put one in her box" a time or two. Or how about the guy shutting off the electricity? Guess she just "lit up his day" a couple of times. And I'll bet her and the UPS guy figured out "what brown can do for you."

I do know that she was a grandmother before she was 30....her daughter had made the same choices as she had. I am most certain that she is a great-grandmother now as we are both in our mid 40s.
Not sure about her financial state, and not wanting to make broad generalizations, but she is First Nations and her family and her community support her and her choices and it is not uncommon to see a lot of teen pregnancies in their community. I have noticed that the fathers do tend to stick with the mothers which is a good thing, again the community at large encourages this.
12 kids...that is a burden on all of us, we the tax payers would be supporting her and her lifestyle choices and it is not a good thing. | |

And to the posters below who said there were states that required sterilization after the birth of a set number of children. That isn't true. Of course birthcontrol and abortions are still free in all states (assuming we're talking U.S. here). We also provide free medical care, immunizations, etc. for all these children.
Someone also mentioned that there was a cap on the number of children you could have and still increase your food stamp (now a card) and welfare payments. That isn't true either. Some states might have additional paperwork, but the salary we're paying them is still going up.
Supposedly, welfare reform (under Clinton) limited the number of years a single mother could remain on assistance (to include medical, dental, child care, food, housing, etc., etc.) and required work/fare and/or educational pursuit (also free), it's a failure. There were too many loopholes. It's also become much easier for a young mother to file for and receive SSDI due to the increase of diagnosed mental illnesses. There are hundreds of sites on the internet that advise you how you can obtain and get a legal disability so you can receive your SSDI in addition to continued, increasing support for your children.
I don't see any end in site for this. Contrary to the opinions of many, American continues to be a "softie" regardless of our reluctance to support women who behave this way. Very, very few of us would truly say "stop giving that innocent child medical care, food, etc."
BTW, trying to change the topic to making this about the guys who are banging these societal drains isn't going to cut it. He isn't the one who will be able to decide on abortion or receipt of welfare in it's many forms. It's the woman popping the kids out. | |

The government needs to stop these people from taking advantage of the welfare system!
They're ripping this country off for hundreds of dollars each & every month!
We could use that money to help finance undeclared 'wars', search for WMD's, and teach those soveriegn arabs about freedom, democracy and capitalism!
Force it on them if need be. Then their citizens can benefit from the low,low prices from the Great Wal-Mart of America - most stuff made in freedom loving Red China, by well paid happy people.
Those hundreds of dollars could also help bail-out the poor investment bankers so they can keep their hard-earned millions, they worked hard for their millions.
These welfare scum steal opportunity from the deserving people - like the well-connected government people who need their no-bid contracts to make their millions legitimately. The good government guys... the smart ones.
