| Are you a McCain supporter? Give some good reasons why or why not? Posted: 4/6/2008 10:51:27 PM | Since the good senator is from our very own state and has an excellent chance of running for President soon, I wondered how many Arizonans were McCain supporters. Would you vote against your own party for him?
I think he has some excellent ideas and some not-so-good ones. Although I'm a Democrat myself, I do have a lot of respect for the man, his views and his experience.
So what's your take on John McCain? Think he'll go "all the way"?

McCain/Feingold, all that does is increase the amounts of influence lobbyist have over our Politian's. Seriously what has he done for Arizona in all his years of service...please tell me one thing? Here is a guy that is willing to spend up to 100 years in Iraq fighting a war with no purpose and no means of victory! He openly admits he knows nothing about economics and we are teetering on an economic disaster. I seriously can't believe he even earned the republican nomination...go figure. I am going to vote for Obama...finally someone who can string two even three sentences together! Not a big fan of Hillary either...she is just as far up big business A$$ as most republicans!

Posted: 4/10/2008 8:21:55 PM | mccain being such a common name heard around arizona for soooo many years, i would think, if there were any dirt or negative things towards his character, we would have heard something. nothing bad to say about him, however, i get the feeling, he has more of a conscience then most of the other politicians in washington -or new york... him being pulled into the vietnam fiasco as a gi -then being an unwilling guest of the hanoi hilton. i would think he knows a bit more about the tragedy of war first hand -instead of fighting from an arm chair safely on home soil. would want to get us out of the iraq mess as soon as possible -without compromising or making our losses in vain. he gets my vote in november.

Add in the recent mix-ups between AlQaeda and Shia, Extremist and AlQaeda... etc... and you've got something to worry about. Either he really just doesn't care about the affairs in the middle-east or he's truely getting old and he's not the person you want to be pushing buttons or having diplomatic discussions because of his forgetfulness. Don't get me wrong... I've got a lot of respect for him too, but in my opinion it's a serious issue.
On top of that concern of mine are actual dislikes pertaining to his policies and opinions on certain things, such as the war and Bush's tax-breaks which will soon expire. I don't like him accusing Democrats of "raising taxes" when a tax-break is set to expire; that's just ridiculous. I don't like when Democrats blame "republicans" of all shapes, colors, sizes etc... for what a FEW are doing on Capitol Hill; and visa-versa.
Really... in my mind he's not the right person for the job. --Brandon

| Are you a McCain supporter? Give some good reasons why or why not? Posted: 4/11/2008 3:18:59 PM | ^^^^^^ (((SIGH))) Yes, Shirley, actually what I said was in jest. Once again my humor in uniform is missed.
I'm a McCain supporter. I'm so passionate (there I go again :-) about my candidate I finally had to take a time-out in the "politics" forums on this site.
It's nothing as shallow as looks, charisma, or even that he's above candidate bashing.
Being politically informed just makes me crazy when people say things like I jokingly did in the previous post. Glad I could raise your blood pressure for a few! Join my world!!!!!!

Hence, I didn't say Hillary was "a babe," just that she was probably decent looking. In her day. And did you miss the little "laughing" emoticon? I thought that would indicate...it was a joke.
:::sigh:: Once again, typed words on a screen do not prove to be the best method of communication.

| Are you a McCain supporter? Give some good reasons why or why not? Posted: 4/13/2008 5:33:38 PM | Well, you are, of course, entitled to your opinion, but I don't think Hillary's personal life or speculations about her relationship with her husband should be the deciding factor about whether or not one votes for a candidate -- any more than I think voting for someone because he's cute is.
However, if you really want to speculate that way, go all out and submit Obama and McCain to the same treatment. For instance, McCain has a much younger wife. What if he illegally charges his Viagra while in office? Or has a heart attack while on top of her and accidentally hits the big red BOMB button?
Sorry, I can't think of anything similarly off-topic to say about Obama. Well, he IS black, you know. Perhaps that alone is enough for some.

| Are you a McCain supporter? Give some good reasons why or why not? Posted: 6/4/2008 6:00:06 PM | There's always the nightmare that BO chooses HC as VP just for added insurance in thwarting ideas of assissination attempts...Oh that would require massive sedatives. Are these really the best leaders this country has to offer or has the benchmark been lowered so much after 8 years of junior? God bless America, we sure as heck will need it. | |

| Are you a McCain supporter? Give some good reasons why or why not? Posted: 6/5/2008 4:40:05 AM | In all seriousness Im glad you guys started this thread.
I myself felt Clinton would have been the best choice out of three poor candidates.
I feel Obama is too inexperienced, has some serious questionable actions in the past and tends to back pedal a lot, which is typical for a young inexperienced person (Oh wait! I upset Israel with my statement about sitting down with their enemies wait wait what I REALLY meant was only if they are friends of Israel) or.. geee, did I really get that land and mansion half price? Then again if he dosnt pay attention in church why would he pay attention to where he lives?
I truly believe our country is on the brink of crisis and its gonna take a real tough **stard or **** to pull us out and frankly I dont think it will happen in the next 4 yrs.
So now, I have a choice to make,, dumb or dumber.. glad for the feedback, please keep it going so I can make a good educated decision.
pagypsy
PS and one more thing... Obama says free health care for the children of the US. Well I dont know about AZ but our children in PA have a program called Chip where medical insurance goes fron free to sliding scale to provide all children with affordable health care.
oh gawd I am soooo confused.. where's Nader??????

I feel like he would drag us into the same direction as the bush administration and I for one cannot accept nor support that. I also feel that in his attempts to seperate himself from his own party's decisions, he shows lack of loyalty which makes me very uncomfortable.
my personal opinion... he seems strong but he will be ruled.

Posted: 6/7/2008 12:07:01 PM | | There is also the concern that, should he win, McCain will be the oldest first-term president we've ever had. Depending on who he chooses for his VP (let's hope they in no way resemble Cheney), we could end up with an incapacitated president and a VP we never voted for in charge.

| Are you a McCain supporter? Give some good reasons why or why not? Posted: 6/8/2008 7:58:53 AM | JM is an old man like Reagan was an old man. Reagan lost his mind so much that he was asking physics to make his decisions. Do we really need another repeat of Star Wars and the Iran Contra affair ? Also continuing Bushs' FAILED policies does not sound good. We need change and Obama, even if he is young, is our best hope. I'm sure he will hire the best advisers to help him along and bringing the troups home and stopping a FAILED "war" (or is it a police action since Bush declared "Victory!!" several years ago).
