| ladies, how do you call this one Posted: 4/10/2008 10:46:29 AM | Since there are so many threads and posts about best friends and more, here is the question. If you are in a full time relationship with your best friend, what should she be referred as. a mate, your best friend or your girlfriend, just what should she be called when you mention her to others.

| ladies, how do you call this one Posted: 4/10/2008 10:51:10 AM | A full-time relationship = going steady, committed to each other.
In this case, I think she should be referred as the girlfriend.

| ladies, how do you call this one Posted: 4/10/2008 10:54:33 AM | Um, why does this sound so complicated to you... are you commitment phobic.. about calling her your gf...
If the relationship is "friendship" based then she is your friend If it is romantically based with no strings then she is your friend with benefits. If it is romantically based with strings then she is your gf...
bottom line is what does she think you guys are... she wont like it if you introduce her as a gf and she wants no strings.. or vise versa... I can't believe you guys are in a full time relationship and have not discussed this or seem to be on the same page....considering the fact "best friend"... one would think the communication aspect is there.

| ladies, how do you call this one Posted: 4/10/2008 12:54:15 PM | | She is your girlfriend, and maybe one day she'll be your wife, which will make her your mate here in the States. LOL A best friend implies no romantic association. Whatever term you use, we all wish you well! | |

If you and your lady friend are in the midst of a serious relationship, that means you've gone well past just being 'friends', so I will now pronounce you G/F AND B/F!
May you go forth and learn, love and cherrish each other always!

ladies, how do you call this one
I always introduce ANYone as a friend of mine, or a good friend of mine. That way, I don't need to do any explanations as to our relationship. If someone wants to read between the lines, go for it...

| ladies, how do you call this one Posted: 6/3/2008 7:37:08 AM | I always use the person's name - it's totally free of confusion. And it's the truth - their name is who they are. I also don't care how I am introduced to a bunch of people I won't likely see again anyway.
Next question? | |

| ladies, how do you call this one Posted: 6/3/2008 9:01:03 AM | | I always call my s/o my partner, companion or mate. Even if we're not living together. I tend to date both genders and those inbetween so it just avoids gender issues when I say any of those above. Plus I'm not a fan of the girl/boy friend term. I'd like to think we're adults. But manfriend and womanfriend just don't sound right either. Ah well. | |

| ladies, how do you call this one Posted: 6/3/2008 9:13:38 AM | How about "the old lady"?
partner, SO, mate...a little too impersonal.
Your chickie? Your chick?
I'd stick w/girlfriend.

| ladies, how do you call this one Posted: 6/3/2008 11:44:52 AM | Just introduce her by her name..........why do people have to know what she is.........
I hate labels..............ahhhhhhh
And then go home and treat her like the queen she is....................
hey.....introduce her as your queen..........she´d probably like that.......

| ladies, how do you call this one Posted: 6/3/2008 11:46:51 AM | let's see
Your partner, love of your life, you better half, your lady love, your life partner, your girlfriend..or
you could ask her what would be pleasing to her
|
| ladies, how do you call this one Posted: 6/3/2008 11:54:52 AM | Just introduce them by name and let everyone wonder......
OT........I am not one to use the word girlfriend, since it has such a connotation of youth, and by the time you get to your 40's and 50's, I think that youth is just not there anymore.
Come up with a name that the both of you can live with, and use it, or just know inside what is there, and let everyone else decide for themselves.....
Just my opinion.......
