| BEWARE of Gang Initiations!
Posted: 4/14/2008 1:24:24 AM | There's a lil dive bar I go to in North County. I stopped by and everyone was like YOU missed all the action. (I always miss the action! ) A biker that had never been to the bar before stopped by. He was friendly and introduced himself to the people at the bar. There were 2 guys playing pool which ISN'T close to the bar. They seemed to come out of nowhere and come up to this guy and they introduced themselves. They didn't introduce themselves to anyone else.
The guy went outside to smoke and these two guys followed them outside and beat him up. No weapons just beat him to a bluddy pulp. There was a car waiting down the street for them and they ran and jumped in it.
The bartender called a couple of other bars to give them a heads up and one of them said they think it has to do with gang initiations!
So please be safe. Just because someone is friendly to your face doesn't mean they aren't going to hurt you! | |

it sounds more like someone recognized him and wanted to remind him of someones toes he stepped on from the past. -if he knew them, hes not going to tell the cops the whole story.

The 2 guys didn't talk to anyone else in the bar. When the Biker came in and introduced himself... it was obvious he'd NEVER been there before so they picked someone that no one really knew. He was also by himself.
There were no cops involved as it happened outside and bars try not to get cops involved.
The After they guys beat him up they ran to a car that was waiting for them. The driver of the car NEVER came in the bar. | |

Posted: 4/24/2008 4:48:46 PM | Hmmmm... I'm not so sure if the message gotten from the OP should be "beware of gang initiations" or "don't go out drinking alone".
I never do the latter, because I found out even before I was old enough to legally drink that criminals work bars like that in groups and look for people who are alone for the purpose of robbing them.
This is way common... especially in seedier parts of town. Many times guys who do this will have a woman work on the guy to get him alone and then BOOM!!!
My best friend's older brother used to go out alone. He had some great luck with ladies doing that; but he also got robbed and the hell beat out of him about four times. One time, he even saw it coming as he was leaving a bar in south Hayward, so he JUMPED in his car, pulled out fast, got on the road and the other car caught up to him, boxed him in, pulled him over and stuck a gun in his face to get his wallet.
IN fact, you don't even have to be going to a bar. Being alone late at night makes one vulnerable enough.
I used to know a group of kids who hung out in a gas station along a main street at the Oakland (many blacks in this city, as we all know)/San Leandro (it was exclusively white at the time) border. They were white kids and they'd see a black person just innocently walk past into San Leandro and then rob them.
The first question the cops would always ask would be "What were you doing in San Leandro, anyway?"
If you're alone and two guys want to rob you, they can always yell out "Give me my money back!!!" before they beat you up and rob you. That's an easy way to make anyone watching from a distance think "everything's alright".
Anyway... reading this thread, I just thought I'd mention that. Be careful late at night... especially on foot and/or alone. | |

To my (rapper's) delight, they said a hip, hop, a hip-hip-hop-ya don't stop, then they rocked it to the bang-bang-boogie, they up-jumped the boogie to the rhythm of the boogiedy-beat.
It was vicious, but I couldn't turn away.....then I went back to my hotel, motel, holiday inn. | |

I mentioned in another post that I actually enjoy late night (after midnight, before 5am) walks in "bad" neighborhoods, and normally when I move somewhere new, I find a bar within walking distance so I don't have to drive, and I walk there often at all hours of day and night without any trouble.
I almost always drink alone so either I intimidate those "bad types" (which I HIGHLY doubt) or they think I'm just not worth their time. Or maybe it's just how i present myself?
You cannot live your life in paranoia, don't judge someone by their appearance, the nice looking guy/woman in casual dinner dress could be a homicial serial killer while the guy/woman in the dirty jeans and decade old t-shirt could have the best personality in the place and be an awesome person to hang out with.
It's survival of the fittest, if you look scared you make a great target, if you look comfortable and at home, then you'll probably be just fine.
