| When should I reveal what I do for a living?

When do I tell women that I am a Doctor?
Problem 1....When revealing this too soon I often get the shallow, all I am looking for is a man with money, type.
Problem 2....If I wait too long and then tell them that I am an obgyn, for some reason that freals most women out.
It's a catch 22 and I don't really know what to do anymore.
Oh and I just told everyone here what I do didn't I? LOL

As for the occupation...It is a stereotype carried over from decades ago, that only players go into obgyn because of all the hoochie they get to see. 
Heck, if I had dated you when I had my kids, you could have given me a discount, and maybe even figured out how the hell to get them out sooner...dang kids hung on as long as they could..not fair | |

Let them know you're a doctor from the get-go, then once you get a little more involved, let them know you're an OB/GYN. The gold diggers will run screaming for the hills. The ones who are really worth it will stick around.

Edit: A REAL doctor would know that smoking is harmful to his health, and wouldn't do it. | |

I would tell them right away when you first break into conversation...ask her what she does and she'll likely reciprocate. Then you can say (in a bashful tone) that your a Doctor.
She'll think "Wow! Intelligent, Successful and s great sense of humility". | |

Frankly it wouldnt matter to me if I really liked the guy what he did for a living. If she is worth holding on to then it wont matter to her either. | |

Sure he can come to a dating site...but if he is married or prefers not to say if he is, then he shouldn't expect us to give him advice on how to pick up women - jeez!

1. recently divorced and raising my two children alone
2. first and foremost a human being. one with habbits and addictions (nicotine) also a person who is averaging between 50 and 60 hours a week working. therefore that's why i am here just checking out what this plentyoffish mess is all about because between working and giving my children all of my love and attention, i really have no time to go out.

Posted: 4/15/2008 10:52:30 PM | i wouldn't put much thought into it. just spill it out whenever it shows on ur brain. people r going to do what people r going to do, and if this is a problem (i dont know why on earth it would be), then it's best u find out sooner than later what kind of person you are dealing with.
to me it would only mean free health care- if there would be a problem, u'd be the first to know, and also the one knowing how to fix it... LOLOL
don't hold back because people don't react the way you want them to, it makes for an easier sorting system, seems to me? | |
