Okay, tell the truth ladies. How important is it to you if the guy knows how to cook. Personally, I love to cook and I've been given the impression that is a desirable trait in a man. Hmm

By the way, tonight, I had chicken breast with wild rice and cranberries in a roulade, with veggies and a white wine reduction sauce, all of my own making. Just thought I'd mention that. ;-)

Attention Whore *points finger* Haha.

Honestly, I hope that women don't judge a man based on his culinary skills, cause I ain't got none. I burn water.

I would have to agree with post #2.

But it depends on the personality you are.
If a guy has enough time to cook a fancy meal and spend all that time adding spices and fancy things, he has too much spare time on his hands and needs to get a job.

But that's me and I'm much younger and I'm sure older women appreciate it :D

As long as he knows the basics, I'm good with that. I'm no culinary wizard...

Personally, I prefer a man who isn't at a total loss in the kitchen. Not because I expect him to cook, but through the years I've come to enjoy cooking dinner together on week nights to be able to chat about our days and begin the relaxation process. Kills 2 birds with one stone, and you can get onto more fun things :)

Well I really don't care if a guy knows how to cook or not, it doesn't mean he's a great person, or intellectually stimulating, or can make me laugh. Cooking is cooking and really anyone can do it if they try.

I think it's an attractive feature in a guy, but not completely necessary. As long as he puts in an effort and isn't completely stupid in the kitchen (can at least do the basics, ie, steam veggies, make KD from a box, grilled cheese), then I'm happy.

I love a man that can cook and that likes to cook. That said, I wouldn't choose one just because he could, or rule one out because he couldn't. It's definitely a bonus in my books. Food is important!

It's not important to me whether or not he knows how to cook, I can make myself dinner, but I will say there is nothing nicer than having a man cook dinner once in a while . My ex was a great cook and I always chose his cooking over going to a restaurant any day. He was good at it, he enjoyed doing it, and I would watch him as much as I could to learn... to bad I didn't learn all his secrets.

Besides, I am an idiot when it comes to grilling out which happens to be my favorite thing in the summer...I think most men must be born with a certain gene that allows them to figure out the charcoal or the temperature lol..

It was important for me to find a man that could cook - 'cause I didn't want to become a personal chef!! Thank God my hubby does cook - especially since I would have no clue how to cook the food he loves!! I do cook for him if I get in the mood to do so and he loves it - but that's maybe once or twice a week! We work different shifts so we really don't eat together anyway - unless it's the weekend!

to the OP: I prefer the guy doesn't cook much. I am a super uber picky eater, and don't like to eat things I don't like. I would drive a male cook batty with my limited diet.

What time is dinner?

I think it's a great skill for a man to have.

And what exactly is a roulade?

Meh..I always do the cooking, just because I'm an awesome cook!

Its not a deal breaker if he doesn't know how, but it would be really nice to actually have a man make a meal for me for once...

I don't like cooking that much..don't mind but never want to be tied to a stove...a man who cooks....is good!

Cooking together is good too...but treats where I do nothing..and in reverse..very nice!

I love it when a partner can (and happily does) cook for me! My ex cooked for me all the time, and we're both vegetarians who don't do well with dairy, so someone whose dietary needs were so well-matched with mine was lovely.

The fact that he made waffles for me most mornings I stayed over with him was one of the things that totally got me hooked.

Ive had a man cook for me ONCE...after that I became a Kitchen Nazi and never let him in the kitchen again.
Guess you could speculate he did it on purpose so he'd never have to cook again... except he became very adept at peeling vegies & scrubbing pots. Great way to do something simple together and share your day.

It'd be lovely if a guy made dinner once in a while if I was late home from work or it was his day off. Even a cuppa coffee and a sandwich would be great.

I think Id intimidate most men in that department though.

As much as I hate taking the wind out of your sails OP, sure it's nice to have a man cook. But do you know what REALLY impresses me? Do you clean up after?

Ocassionaly my ex would cook and I learned to dread it because it felt like he dirtied every dish in the kitchen, he definitely did not wipe the counters and always left the mess for me clean up.

Hehe...me too nicegirl...love feeding a man/men. Just something about it.

Used to really enjoy Grand Final Day (ie. our Super Bowl)...and on the day...gettin all the boys around for watching the game, some beers & a damn good feed.
