| Adding Music To Your Profile Posted: 4/16/2008 9:19:04 PM | I'm wondering what others think of the new feature of adding music to your profile. It seems to be a neat techie gimmick, but does it add to your understanding of the person's profile?

| Adding Music To Your Profile Posted: 4/16/2008 10:14:51 PM | | Well heck.... guess my talented way with words won't be enough anymore! Its just another thing that will be around for a while. Some people will use it - others won't. It sort of reminds me of those annoying emails you get with the elevator muisic... just a step or two up! | |

| Adding Music To Your Profile Posted: 4/19/2008 3:44:01 PM | Well - I'm definitely one to admit when I make a mistake.... and seeing some of the great tunes and videos on some of the profiles... I hope this little perk lasts. Although... there are a still a few that do remind me of elevator music!

| Adding Music To Your Profile Posted: 4/20/2008 8:05:02 AM | | Oh yeah this is very cool. And it does express my personality to a tee by adding my current favorite song to the profile. | |
|
| Adding Music To Your Profile Posted: 4/21/2008 5:35:22 PM | I think it's a great feature.....it allows others to get an idea of the music you like or one that just makes you happy | |

| Adding Music To Your Profile Posted: 4/25/2008 2:51:49 PM | I couldnt find the troglodyte song on there!!!
Now THAT song would turn a few heads!
|
| Adding Music To Your Profile Posted: 4/27/2008 1:47:16 PM | With so many options, I had trouble picking a song so I went with a funny video instead!! | |
|
| Adding Music To Your Profile Posted: 4/29/2008 11:30:23 AM | Oh...were we supposed to pick just ONE song? I have to choose between The Who and Joan Jett? Bob Dylan and CCR?
No way! | |
|
| Adding Music To Your Profile Posted: 4/29/2008 11:39:55 AM | Just search for Troglodyte. It's there. As far as I know, it doesn't autoplay on here, so it shouldn't be intrusive. | |

| Adding Music To Your Profile Posted: 5/2/2008 8:52:55 AM | I have no idea how to do this. Is it the same as when you add a song on mi-space? Do you use the embedded version?
Help please? | |
|
| Adding Music To Your Profile Posted: 5/2/2008 3:11:34 PM | | Actually you can also add video..... I think it can add a lot to a person's profile... a new dimension if you will.... In my case it is especially insightful because I am a singer/songwriter and I posted one of my own original videos featuring one of my original songs which tells a lot about how I feel about life, love and the world at large (or small if you prefer.... :0) | |

| Adding Music To Your Profile Posted: 10/19/2009 2:08:29 PM | He ((bigfish) claimed that allowing embedded objects (the technical name for that code that you got from imeem and inserted into your profile) was a security risk and allowed for people to steal your password.
I own several websites and I'm pretty up on security risks and I have seen no documentation to substantiate this claim from any source any where on the Internet nor have I spoken to anyone who has ever heard of such a "threat."
Now, back on April 25, 2008 there was a security issue on imeem but that was corrected pretty quickly by the imeem staff and this was more than a year before POF dropped embedded object support.
My own personal suspicion is that imeem got tired of POF sucking off its bandwidth and demanded Bigfish start paying, he refused and they cut him off and this was all covered by his claiming a security vulnerability. Now, this is just my SUSPICION as to what happened but to me its much, much more plausable than a security vulnerability that no one else in the industry seems to know about.
I mean, honestly, you can pick up object codes from virtually every site on the Internet that hosts any form of video/photo/music content and there has never before been a mention of embedded object security... <shakes head
In fact, if you do this google: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22embedded+object%22+%2Bsecurity&btnG=Search&aq=f&oq=&aqi=
You'll see there are only 27,000+- results for "embedded object" +security and those are related to microsoft products.
Furthermore, if you were concerned about the security of a few companies you could block those by scanning for their domain name in the URL (i.e. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdAiW2LS9SE) and allow others. No, he wanted to kill this feature.
Another annoying thing is that some people got emails advising them to change their passwords while others of us received no such notification. If there was a security vulnerability then I wanna know why they hell I wasn't told to change my password!
