Ladies I need your advice! Just broke the ice with a lovely woman here on POF who has the face I'd like to stare at across the table ad infinitum. She warned me that she's "picky" and looking for someone who makes her heart flutter. Aside from tall, handsome, rich guys with 6 pack abs & motorcycles - what advice can you offer? I'm ALL EARS!

There is nothing more attractive than a smart man. Mmmm...Mmmm...MMMmmmm!

Run in the other direction...

If she has warned you that she is picky, and you are here asking how to be something SHE wants, then you aren't being true to yourself.

She may have a face that you could stare at till infinity, doesn't mean she has a heart that would make you want to smile till infinity. What if only ugly "I" want, you need to be this, you need to do that, is the only thing that comes from here mouth?

Relationships aren't about what makes that persons heart flutter, it is about that person looking at you, and liking then loving who you are right now...

Sure there is always things that we can change about our selves, but that is something we have to learn for our selves, not for someone elses happiness...

Good luck, perhaps she will really like you for being you...

The flutter: it could be more a chemical thing, so no matter your looks, wallet or wit, if the chemistry isn't there, it won't flutter (most likely).

Good luck DagoRed :)

NT,

Thanx for your advice! Sort of hoping she's really trying to weed-out the sleezeballs? I think I have some ideas about the "flutter" thing, but figured I' be smart to go straiht to the source (you women) for a good perspective! Yep, I really can't be anyone other than who I am - but I'm absolutely willing to learn!

Different things work for different people.

Most women (at least the good ones) appeciate a man with intelligence.
That's definitely something that is attractive (works both ways too).

If a woman says that she's picky... and expects you to change to suit her needs... then just move on. In time you'll find one who will love you for who you are, and never ask you to change a thing.

Ms. Dolly,

I'm a Libra she's a Leo - good, huh?

Brains.

Intelligence has become such a rare thing nowadays, and people actually scoff at the idea of being smart, cultured, and well read. If I meet an attractive man with all of the other necessary traits (kindness, generosity, and whatnot) who also reads all the time and appreciates science and history and all of that I'm a goner.

But yeah, if you are having to ask what to do to make this picky woman's heart flutter you may end up not being true to yourself. Do you really want to be someone you aren't so you can stare at her all the time?

Some people like intellegence, and then some use it to much, and over whelm the other person. It is about balance... OF course you can never had to much of a pleasant attitude, a positive out looking, and a willingness to ask questions, and but open up about yourself a little as well...

Without knowing you and her, it is hard to say what could make a person's heart flutter. It either does, or it doesn't...

Genuine confidence and a true appreciation, Not phony flattery will go miles...

As I say balance is a key ingredient...

I'm a Leo.

An excellent kisser makes my heart flutter.

If you want to know what keeps me interested, I'll tip you off to that as well.

Why do all the women who like this live so far away..LOL

AS per what another Poster said it best:

I feel as if women aren't interested in that sort of thing. I'm a history fanatic, especially military. I like science and science fiction but where are the women that like that sort of thing???? Will it make her heart flutter when I tell her I like to watch Battlestar Gallactica (the updated version)? Or will she think I'm some kind of loser geek? It seems to me women go for the fluff instead of the stuff.

I'm obsessed with Civil War history (I'm writing a novel set in the period) and BSG is one of my favorite shows.

There are PLENTY of women out there who are like that. We're just typically not the ones that catch men's eyes at first.

His WALLET.

Seriously, OP, I'd be careful if I were you. "Picky" can usually = High Maintenance. And those types are never fun.

GF,

Yep, I know you're "telling it like it is" wallet-wise! And the "high maintenance" potential is certainly there...

So far, I'm getting some very good advice!

Dago and Jim - - you're both Libras desiring Leos?? You'll be good for Leos because we (I) can be kind of neurotic and extremist, and Libras are good at putting some balance into life.

I don't want to put Leos all into one strict category - but I know a lot of Leos and we all have some common traits:

1) We are lions, hear us roar. Independence and autonomy coarses through our veins. We cannot tolerate oppression of any sort. However, with the right person who makes us feel comfortable - we will become vulnerable and permit dominance and control over certain things. But, we will let you know what those things are. For me, I have such control over myself in my daily life that it is nice to come home and allow someone else to take over when I am in my relaxed environment. The control factor, though, is not one that is projected onto others. It's only of myself. Some Leos might be more authoritative over others (my dad ). If you're with a Leo and she starts to show vulnerability - do NOT abuse it. Know that you are now special, because she does NOT knock down that wall for just anybody.

2) We compare ourselves to ourselves - not to others. Don't compete with a Leo. Just be yourself and let her be herself and let your highlights compliment hers and likewise. Also, accept that she is always right. She is.

3) Leos have to shine. Let her. Understand that she will receive attention from others and this pleases her. There is no room for jealousy or possessiveness. You have to be the type of person that sits back and admires and relishes in the fact that people are drawn to her. Do not punish her for that with jealousy. And know that if she is with you, she is with you. She is faithful and honest and will not stray - but if you can stand by and appreciate what other people see in her and love that about her, she will know you truly love her.

4) Praise her often, but only sincerely. No cheesy bull$hit. You have to be genuine and honest. Sincere compliments and thoughtful expressions, given seldom, will have much more impact than frequent and trivial expressions.

5) Don't put her between a rock and a hard place. Leos tend to overbook themselves until they figure out that it's exhausting. They can be perfectionists and workaholics and if you put too much pressure on them to pick you or something else they feel obligated to - they can shut down.

6) Don't be self-depricating. Leos lose patience with pessimists. Don't be a downer. You don't have to be Peppy McPepperson, but don't be a downer. Also, don't be critical of her. We hate that. We're perfect, you know?

Freedom is our greatest ideal. If you can remember that at all times, and you can trust that with that freedom she will make her own moral and sound decisions for her life (and with you in mind) - then you should be good to go.

I don`t know that you can make a woman`s heart "flutter". It`s kind of a chemistry thing. It either is or it isn`t.
One mistake I think alot of guys make is in thinking that if they"do" the right things, this will occur. Then when they take her to nice places, are a gentleman, invest significant effort, and it just doesn`t happen, they are resentful. Some women, also are
wanting magic, and try to force it , or hope that it will develop over time. But I don`t think it usually happens. You are either feeling it or not.
The men that I have had an incredible chemistry with, who I wanted to be with, it happend long before the first drink was bought. It was just something. Like the right key that fits the lock, cut just right.
But being patient and being a gentleman always helps. I personally like good cologne
-not Old Spice. After a date, you can sometimes smell that frangrance on your skin or
the clothes that you wore, and it reminds you of the evening, nice little afterthought.
Just relax and don`t try too hard. Be with her the way you would be with an old friend or loved family member, rather than trying a bunch of cheesy romantic tactics. Alot of women don`t care for this any more. A woman with a good heart is going to want to accept you how you are, and not want all of the preening and fluffing.
Oh, and one thing, don`t talk about your assetts and what you have too much. A little is okay, but if it is a solioquy about your portfolio, this will offend a good woman. If she starts asking questions about this stuff, it`s a good idea to not see her again. Talk about families interests, things you enjoy, keep it fun and light. Good Luck!

Intelligence, cultured, well read is definitly a plus for me. But one big heart fluttering thing for me is the way he touches me. A goy who knows the right ways to touch in the right spots is very nice (like a gentle caress on the back or the arm kind of thing). Also doing little things to show he cares and pays attention, like sending me a text message the morning of my exam to wish me luck and calling me that night to ask how it went. I'm also a fan of respectful men and men with good manners...

If the right feelings are there, just seeing him makes my heart flutter......the way he talks, the way he walks and carries himself, eye contact with deep, mysterious meanings...just his being makes my heart flutter.

Make her heart flutter eh? I hope you carry a portable defibulator. Personally I prefer women who go weak in the knees.
