Posted: 4/17/2008 10:31:20 AM | Hey folks, Admin has added a new feature. You can embed music from imeen.com to your profile.
It doesn't autoplay - which is I think best, esp. for those on dialup connections. If someone looks at your profile they will see if you've added a tune and have the option to play it. It starts playing after a few seconds, once it has downloaded.
I had absolutely no problem adding one to mine, first one to test and then changed it to one of my favourite tunes.
Just follow the two links in your edit page.

If you go to the website you can search by artist and title as well. There appears to be an extensive library of selections. They might have your tune there too.
I made a typo in the original post. Website is www.imeem.com (not imeen.c0m).

Although I appreciate the offer..........(not) given my eclectic taste in music and vast diversity in choices.......think I will make the selection without any input. Many thanks all the same.......

Wow, that feature works quite well, once I figured it out. Now I can change my music whenever I get the urge..........I think I might like this feature!! | |

I created an account with imeem and uploaded there my very own 55 second video.
I then added the video to my POF profile. Curiously Firefox (or some setting I have) won't play videos but will play music. Microsoft Internet Explorer will play both video and audio.
My video is of a large group of Pacific White Sided Dolphins that swam towards my boat when I stopped to video record them. Much to my surprise and obvious delight the dolphins swam right towards me, surrounded me and swam right under the boat. If anyone views a video clip be prepared to allow for some extra seconds to download before it can be played.

You state that "Admin" has added this feature?
Does " imbedding", count as a link?? and if yes, it makes me curious about the enforcement note I received recently regarding "links".
Reason for asking is as follows:
Response from Moderator regarding music links on my profile.

As I don't want any other innocent people having their profiles deleted for such harmless indiscretions, I am seeking some clarity regarding POF policy re: Music Links.
(I wasn't aware that I was doing anything harmful or against policy  ).
I do hope they have changed their stance aka policy, to allow links that are of personal preference (but not promotional/spam).

Posted: 4/17/2008 9:04:33 PM | quintessence, not that I can speak on behalf of POF , but consider that the site is free and run by very few people. Your intentions may be honorable, however many others may abuse the posting of external links and it would requite a substantial amount manpower to monitor every profile. That is why the rules are against posting external links.

The option to embedding is provided by Admin, a new feature. It isn't typing a hyperlink code into the description section of your profile, which I assume you might have done with the Youtube link.
Just start editing your profile and you will see the new options and from what I've seen only content from imeem.com can be embedded.
If the youtube video is of your own you could create an account with imeem, upload it and then once it is active you can embed it in your POF profile. Hope that helps.

I discovered that Firefox works fine with the video play. I had an aggressive filter setup up in AdBlock Plus, one of the addons for Firefox.

If you want to listen to your tunes (or anyone elses) while surfing pictures or what ever just open a new window (tab) and leave the one you are listening to up. | |
