Does anyone else on Plenty of Fish love cruising? I went on my first cruise when I was only eight. I think that was my favorite vacation ever. I have been on quite a few since then. My family tries to go on each fall, and I usually spend Spring Break with my friends. We didn’t get to this year. Most of us work at different schools now, and our spring breaks didn’t come at the same time. Oh well, I will be heading to Cozumel and Grand Cayman this fall.
My favorite place is Grand Cayman, and my favorite cruise ship is the Celebration. I know its old, but it holds a very special memory for me. Oh the days of thinking guys you met on vacation would call you later…..LOL!
Well, tell me about your cruises!

I am not a big fan of cruises but I have taken two and plan on a third in May. I booked them more for where they went, not so much for the cruise aspect itself.

The first was on the Sea Diamond and it went through the Eastern Med to some Greek Islands and Kusadasi, Turkey. I loved the places it visited, but the ship sucked. It was of no surprise it hit a reef and sank at Santorini on what I believe was it's next cruise (I was on it's last cruise in 2006, I think it sank on it's first cruise of 2007).

The other was a 19 day cruise around South America on the Norweigian Crown at the end of 2006 as well. It was nice and I enjoyed the ports, but 19 days is just too dang long to be on a ship!

Both of the above cruises were cool, but it was mostly a much older crowd because of when I traveled. I did not really meet many people in my age range and I did not enjoy being one of the youngest people on the boat (I was 37 at the time).

The cruise I booked in May is (probably) going to be a younger crowd and I am looking forward to it. It goes from Spain to Malta, Italy, France and back to Spain. It is also a much newer ship (less than a year old), so I am sure it will be much more enjoyable than the previous two.

The problem may have been the cruises you took. You should try a shorter one to the Caribbean. They are more for the fun. The location is just a plus. Believe me Cozumel is a great plus!

On the subject of cruising, I worked on Cruise Ships for many years as a photographer, so I have mixed feelings about cruising. The positive side is that it was a great experience and i was fortunate enough to see most of the world AND be paid for it! Although i would not return to it at this point in my life, I definitely have no regrets.

I have been saying recently though that I would like to go on a cruise in the near future... as a passenger this time.
The "Celebration" I believe is Carnival right? I never worked for Carnival as they hire photographers in house. I worked with Celebrity Line, RCL, NCL (Norwegian Cruise Lines)
Club Med, and Festival.

Have u been on a RCL ship? If you haven't, You should consider it. They are fantastic. In my humble opinion, they shoot Carnival right out of the water...so to speak..
Have fun !

Cruising is my vacation of choice... no driving, looking for motels or a good place to eat.. I try to book at least 2 a year.. I'm leaving Sat. for San Juan & a 7 night S. Caribbean cruise.

Candi.. RCCL is my favorite line..although my last Carnival wasn't bad..it was on Glory when she 1st came out...

I love cruising! Met two great girls on my first cruise trip and they are now my best friends! It's also not a bad way to travel solo as you are bound to make some acquintances through dinner and other events and there are plenty to do on the ship and on shore. But beware WHEN you take the trip if you are travelling solo, don't take it near the Christmas holiday as there will be many family groups and also lots of little kids. My colleague have just introduced me to singlescruises.com which caters specially for people traveling solo, I shall give it a try this year. Anyone want to go Bacelona?

There are a lot of great places to go in the Caribbean, including the V.I., B.V.I. and don't forget Bermuda.

In Cozumel, I'd make sure I did an excursion to Tulum wearing a bathing suit under my clothes, and of course Stingray City in Grand Cayman is terrific. I've heard some people don't like the somewhat imposing rays bumping them and knocking them off balance, but I was wired up for it enough that I just went over the side when the Captain was dropping the stairs to the water.

Very gentle playful animals, they were curious and didn't eat the provided food. I think they just make the rounds of tour boats for the fun of it.

You're probably stopping at one other port on that trip?

I've been on several and have enjoyed them all. RCL and Princess as my favs, but still have to try out Celebrity and Costa(cheaper cruise line). Haven't tried Carnival again for 21 years. Holland America is not as nice as other ships.

I just did Western going to Key West, Cozumel, Belize and Playa De Carma(what a great and fun port). I've found that the concierge club is great...free drinks every night and great service.

Now I'm off to Alaska in September for a second time. Went 10 years ago and decided it was time to go again.

I took a cruise to the Western Carribean last December with friends and wedding party. Although I enjoyed the cruise, I felt 7-days was too long. Most of the people on the boat were families with teens and small children. There were no single people my age. I spent the whole 7-days alone wandering the ship, watching other people enjoying each other, and went sightseeing on my own. The boat was beautiful and the areas I visited were beautiful and I did enjoy it but I would have enjoyed ten times better if I had had someone to share it with. I will never go on another cruise unless I go with someone I enjoy being with and can share the experience with.

Been on 4 cruises in the last 5 years. All Carnival.

They are extremely fun. Only disspointing thing is traveling during August & having the chance that a hurricane causes your planned course to be rerouted. 2 years in a row, i was supposed to hit up Belize & Costa Maya. Both times, a hurricane rerouted them so it was just a matter of planning new exursions.

There's is basically everything there you need - Vegas style shows, poker tournis, contests on the deck, fancy dinning, - There is never a dull moment & I also bring some good books-magazines that I read in my downtime so I feel that I am getting alot more accomplished.

I have been on three Cruises, and I think that they are the best way to travel. Since my family is spread all of the country, we use the cruises as a family trip, and we get to see eachother. I have to agree with you that teh Celebration is my fav. But I think that is because it was the last trip that my Grandma was able to go on. I think that she on a extend curies now, and if I know her she is sitting a Black Jack table racking it in. That my GG.
