What to bring on first out-of-town date?

What to bring on first out-of-town date?

Okay, you've been flirting, courting, romancing and wooing a fish from this pond. You've exchanged numerous email, talked on IM, or Skype or maybe even real phone calls.

Much to your surprise and delight you think you've formed a connection and agree to meet. You offer to do the traveling. We won't get into what he/she has offered to compel you to travel but will accept it was sufficiently enticing.

The fish lives some distance away, in fact far enough away you realize won't be sleeping in your own bed that night. Not knowing how things might work out you both face the facts that you might be sleeping in a hotel, perhaps on the couch in the home of your new friend, or glory be, sharing the bed with the friend you've not yet met in person.

You have a block of three days available for meeting someone what may prove to be "the one". Your heart races with excitement at the prospect.

Now you have to decide what to bring, what to you pack in your suitcase.

Of course we decide to bring a toothbrush, our jammies and clean underwear and a gift (t-shirt with the name of your town?).

What else? and who should provide the personal lubricant?

I've dated someone in another town.
I went to a hotel, he went home.

Had a great time but when reality hits you, you know that no one is moving anywhere.
All in all, it was fun! and we knew that we would remain friends if nothing else.

I concur with the SpongeMaster on this one!..lol
Visa Card - don't leave home without it.
Cellphone or 25 cents to call a friend.
Condoms - multi-pak (assorted flavours and size)
Trail mix is good.
Pudding cups are good too! - can never have enuf pudding.

not sure about the Pepper Spray and Tazer..who you dating Sponge?..Transit cop?

I would certainly make your own arrangements for accomodations and let someone know where you are bound if you don't come back.

Not sure about gifts, why not a nice bunch of flowers?... KISS - Keep it Simple Stupid.
Don't overthink things.

ahhhhhhhhhh Tyee?...Babe?..can I call you Babe, Babe?....what time shall I expect you?

he came to visit me the first time we met in person (after talking on the phone for about a month and a half) ... he brought a rose, a big smile! Toothbrush, deodorant, clean underwear, swim suit and a box of condoms.

first night he stayed in hotel room and I went home.

I made an early morning visit on day 2 and I did not go home til day 4. We dated for a year and a half and he always stayed at my house...... until the distance became too much of a challenge and we both decided to move on. What a ride, though!

Hmmm, either you have mighty big suitcase or your friend is tiny, or maybe, just maybe that 'friend' is some other kind of portable companion?

*slurps coffee* thinking LOL
someone 's got a nibble....casted the bait out far and now realizes not enough line to reel it in should there be a fight with a possible keeper ....

good advice above
only thing to add is not too many expectations... you may get nervous if it's a great fish, and the excitement may put on too much stress ....so don't forget the medications

good luck

Hmmm, let me guess, a string of first-time dates but no second dates... and a stream of guys making trips to Emergency Room for treatment of minor electrocution and sudden exposure to capsaicin.

Of course I can see why a hawt gal has to be prepared and the guys, well they just control themselves and are overcome with urges.

But what's the deal with the trail mix? A little snack to keep you going when the going gets tough?

Hi - Ms. Practical here.
Leave a note with someone or at your home (pinned to the fridge) with the location of where you're going, who you're visiting (address & phone #) etc. just in case.............. you never know.
Maybe my advice would be mostly for the ladies who may visit a never- before- seen- friend, cause you never know who you're really meeting up with.
Have fun Tyee!

^^^ the trail mix is to make oneself feel at home.
It is likely that the journey would keep us away from the forums for a few days.
The trail mix is like bringing a group of forum posters with us.
Some mixed Nuts and a couple of smarties mixed in for sweetness.

All sound advice for sure. You didn't answer the question though. It isn't what would you do before leaving home, but what would you bring in your suitcase to take with you if you were to compelled to visit someone out of town?

Have fun? I'd have to get an invite first (or make one). Airmiles continue to accumulate, all for naught.

Ah yes, mo-mo. That makes perfectly good sense too, thanks. Always good to have a symbolic support group along to poll for advice in times of uncertainty.

I always make sure someone knows where I'm going, who I'm meeting, his full name and phone number.. possibly address if he's comfy enough ..
that way.. the police know where to start looking for my body.

Oh I jumped the bridge on that one. Huummmmmmmmm ...
I think you're covered if you have a credit card and a nice gift.
Don't laugh but I always bring my own tea bags as I am very particular when it comes to tea! he he
I just keep them in my suitcase and if the person I'm visiting happens to make horrid tea then I offer.
Sounds silly I know but I've been caught over a long weekend and have had a few moments similar to some of the POFers who are trying to give up smoking recently.
Also, bring your own soap if you don't want to end up soaping yourself with wild flowers or something that may aggravate your skin.
The other posters have covered all the other necessities so I won't go there.

Once you get to know the person then you may not need these necessities next time you visit.

A generous offer... I think. Trouble is the shrinkage problem is in the Okanagan region, well at least not here on the Upper Sunshine Coast. Not boasting our... err... clothes... are exceptionally large to begin with, but at least we have learned how to avoid that shrinkage.

Okay, mo-mo, spongecat, mb, et al.

You've driven a bargain, and a hard one at that. I just got off the phone with AirMiles. As luck would have it the rep I spoke too was quite sympathetic to my position. We discussed it at length and with some promises made have made a special arrangement.

You see my quandary is that I don't have enough AirMile accumulated to cover everyone's flight.

The good news is that they have a special fund for such circumstances and have agreed to make a dispensation and will cover the air fare for all of you, and me.

The bad news is you'll have to cover airport fees, taxes, etc. A guy can do only so much!

Some conditions do apply, these important so the air crew can file a good flight plan, you know, fuel, weight on board, etc.

So you have to send to me a an itemized list of any.... err... 'toys' you intend to pack.
We also need to know your weight and you bra cup size.
Hmm, better also mention how many days you've gone without.
Send it by private message if you prefer.

Sure, I don't have a problem with shaving my legs, better than a wax job.
As to the skirt, okay, but since I don't have one one of you fine ladies will have to lend me yours, but all of you have to promise to take it off me too, s-l-o-w-l-y.

Sponge, put that fancy Durango on a transport to here, so I can haul my boat up there. Be sure to put you Shell credit card in the glovebox, so I can rack up more AirMiles.

I look forward to the lists.

Tyeee

EDIT: ^^^ ML1. My laundry tub is single, not a double. I posted that in a thread not long ago, but have no idea whch. LOL
