Got a shock when I signed in tonight.
Some damn offensive, Plastic, electro pop (shat) started to play when I got to my inbox. So now I have to remember to put my speakers on mute when I sign in.

Does anyone else find either the choice of music irritating , or the inclusion of music in the inbox area totally unneccesary?

Also if we have to have music what would you choose to replace the current noise with?

I know you can choose music on your profile but not when you enter your inbox. Refresh your page and check again, maybe it was one of those annoying ads with music?

I don't get any music on my inbox, but I have noticed the music and videos on profiles now.

So I guess now we're like Friendster or something? Instead of reading a profile I'm supposed to fall in love with them because they have a cool video of some celeb? Should I do a search by videos or music in the profiles and ignore the personal stats altogether?

This seems like a distraction in the worst possible area. Like going on a movie date, you don't talk to the date. So now, I'm supposed to watch the video of some freak-a-zoid writhing, like that's got anything to do with the 45-year old mother of 3 kids in college.

Maybe an educational film on STDs would be more appropriate.

^^^^ on the contrary - I think you can tell whether you would like to chat to someone because of their choice of music link on their profile.

I haven't had the music when logging in, but I do have music on my profile.

It's not because I want you to find me lovable because of my choice, but because playing it - it's a full track, not a 30-second snatch - keeps my Profile page open and logged in when I am in the Forums, and the automatic Log-Off / Timeout Due to Inactivity doesn't happen. All I have to do is go back and restart the music when it stops to save having to repeatedly log in.

Even problems can be opportunities - or does that comment belong in the How Happy Are You thread?

I find it an extreme breach of my human rights to subject me to crap music unexpectedly without prior warning!

Never had any problem with music in my inbox.only have music on my profile, that was a damn fine idea.
I does make people more interesting if they have a good taste in music though.

I have my speakers muted 99% of the time anyway. I'll turn them up if I want to listen to someone's profile music, but it doesn't happen often.

Mine has some real old chesse on it, I'm guessing not many want to listen to that either!

I don't mind it, sometimes gives you something to break the ice with. If I'm not careful though, my playlist will end up longer than whats in the rest of my profile.

Ive never had any music in my inbox, It must be some kind of advert. As for the music in your playlist on your profile, I think its a great Idea . You can tell a lot from somebodies musical taste and its a good indicator as to whether you may get on and have similar interests in other areas.

There is an option to have your playlist start automatically when somebody clicks on your profile, I can understand how that could be a little off-putting. A lot of people like to put a voice to the picture , this facility enables you to do that or even post a video of yourself if you like. Nobody forces you to click on the playlist but its another option for those who do. I like to listen to the music on my playlist whilst I'm browsing on this site or posting on the forums .

Yes; you can.
But unfortunately you can't tell someone's "musical taste" from a single solitary song on their profile.

I think its possible to have up to 200 songs on your playlist at any one time. I have over 120 on mine and about 30 music videos also.
