| ADMIN: Can't view profiles - registration page appears instead of profile
Posted: 4/25/2008 7:17:53 PM | Went to check out the profile of a poster, and couldn't! I got page 1 of a a 2 page registration. I thought that perhaps I wasn't logged in, but I am. I went to look at some other profiles and found myself thwarted 4/5 times. Same thing, a registration page.
I tried registering under Tessav, but was, of course, told the name was taken (apparently I still exist).
I also tried to look at the profiles of a couple of people I've looked at before, and even a favorite with whom I have often corresponded, with the same sad result.
Can anybody help me out?
EDIT: I can't even view myself!
Do this --> Delete your Cookies and Temporary Internet Files

The URL of the profile appears in the address bar, but the registration page appears instead.

Then I signed back in. Checked my mail settings, someone in my favorites, and viewed my profile. Now I'm here to see if it does it again. | |

Posted: 4/25/2008 8:10:24 PM | Seems ok now - log out of POF mail and forums, clear your cache and cookies, re-boot your pc, log back into POF and you should be fine.

Seems ok now - log out of POF mail and forums, clear your cache and cookies, re-boot your pc, log back into POF and you should be fine
Instructions here --> Browsers: Delete Cookies & Temporary Internet Files
However, this seems to be ocurring again - repeat above procedures.

Posted: 4/26/2008 11:30:51 AM | My guess is that it's not completely a glitch... it seems to be consistently happening on the fourth profile which is being viewed; meaning that there's a limit to the number of profile views a person will be able to surf before being prompted to join the site and that this isn't going to affect person's logged on...

Posted: 4/26/2008 11:34:56 AM | Clear your cookies (or those related to this site) and restart your browser. Clearing your Temporary Internet Files is also a good idea. Should work.
The problem lies in local cookie(s) not having the relevant session data, so it doesn't know you're logged in (even if you are) when viewing member-only areas... and redirects you to a sign-up page. | |

I'd think it would have a negative impact on revenues to modify the environment in such a way that interferes with being able to navigate successfully around the site. People are apt to just give up and look elsewhere.
BTW having the same issue here with registration page appearing when I try to look at profiles. | |
