| What will you do with your.............rebate Posted: 4/26/2008 1:38:58 PM | Well, I just can’t seem to decide how to blow this big money coming my way next week. Should I buy a wave-runner, give it back to the Chinese, where it came from, buy gas, go on a weekend get-away to Vegas or go to the spa? I could support an illegal alien family for a month or a tweaker for a week. I could skip work and camp at the beach for a while or give it all to my kids.
I could buy an original masterpiece from a local artist, party in Hollywood or fly to Hawaii. It would pay for a new Spring wardrobe, a colon cleansing or a guitar. I could take flying lessons, cooking lessons, singing lessons or go to cosmetology school.
The reality is that I will most likely fork it over to a bill collector, find me a helluva sexy young man, and stimulate his package.
What will you do with yours?

| What will you do with your.............rebate Posted: 4/26/2008 2:44:03 PM | I want to do something positive for the local economy. Keep it "at home" so to speak. I'd like to do it and annoy as many of the local liberals (that are wanting to tax it) as possible. Plus I'd like it to be an investment with some growth potential. All around a difficult choice...
So, I think it's going to be a brandy-new Springfield Armory (in-state manufacturer) Mil Spec in .45 and some made-in-the-USA bullets to go with it. The last one I got I paid $300 for and it's now worth 450, not a bad ROI for 4 years.

| What will you do with your.............rebate Posted: 4/26/2008 5:51:11 PM | Well I just spent $225.00 of my tax return on a new motor for my motorized bicycle (that gets 100+ miles a gal) and I’m only spending money on that because it will save me money on gas, which is $3.79 in SE CT as of today. Exxon-Mobile can kiss my butt unless it’s raining my car is staying parked till fall!
Other then that the rest of my tax return money along with my "rebate check" money, and any other cash I can scrape up, I think is best spent helping to get Discover Card off my back!
22.99%
That’s just criminal… I’m sick of being in the hole to those people. I want to pay off visa too though the rate on that is not nearly as bad… bunch of thieving **stards, all of them…
So much for those dreams of a wave runner… maybe next year…

| What will you do with your.............rebate Posted: 4/26/2008 10:38:32 PM | I got this email recently:
How to use Your IRS Rebate check...
As you may have heard, each of us will be getting a tax rebate check to stimulate the economy.
If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer it will go to India. If we purchase fruits and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan. If we purchase useless stuff it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy.
We need to keep that money here in America. The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at yard sales, since those are the only businesses still in the US!

| What will you do with your.............rebate Posted: 4/26/2008 10:44:14 PM | | With my rebate and my exhusbands [lol, I got his too, he owes a LOT of back child support] so some of that will go into my son's trust account; the rest, will go towards gas [we hit $4.05 today.. OUCH!!!!] and a new lap top if I can find one I like. The rest, will be put into a saving account to be used for an emergancy. I know, kinda boring, but, I do what I gotta do. | |

Put it towards my car. The sooner it's paid off the better. I hate debt.
That's one of the best answers I have read so far. I hate debt as well and have been generally debt free for the last 5 years. I say 'generally' because there are a few months (few and far between) where I order something with a credit card and don't pay for it until the item or service is delievered. You get certain protection with credit cards that you don't with cash, so for some things like car repairs, vacations, and other large purchases I use them and pay them off later.

| What will you do with your.............rebate Posted: 4/27/2008 9:56:12 AM | | I will not be cashing it... It's not a rebate it's a taxable loan from the government that will go against your 2008 income tax. You could end up owing money or if lucky getting only a few dollars back on your 2008 income tax return... | |

| What will you do with your.............rebate Posted: 4/29/2008 12:52:13 AM | Americans have it so lucky to get a "stimulate the economy" rebate check.
If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan You could purchase a mediocre car and the money will stay in America.
I am going to save it How will that stimulate the economy?? But then ... how does cash from Uncle Sam really stimulate the economy anyway?? It all just movement of $$ from the government coffers to private ones.

kicnbac topgear...it is NOT taxable.
According to the IRS it's not taxable income. However if you invest it or spend it any where other than a garage sale then it is taxed. If you buy gas it's taxed. If you buy a TV it's taxed... Etc,!
However, it is loan according to the IRS. It's an advanced credit on your 2008 income tax. One does not have to use the checks, the same credit is available at the end of the year when you file your 2008 income taxes... The question remains if this advance credit will be a debit credit in reality?
I'm reviewing the actual wording of this stimulas package deal and It's interesting how much more business are getting huge loopholes, it makes the payments people are going to be receiving look like table scraps...

| What will you do with your.............rebate Posted: 4/29/2008 3:14:12 AM | If I get more than $300, I'll probably buy a laptop computer with it and the money I already have saved up so that I can write while I'm at work. If my mother needs financial help in the forseeable future though, I'll save it for emergencies. I've got so much debt that a few hundred dollars wouldn't make a dent or improve my credit if I put it toward it... so forget that. So I may buy a laptop comuter so I can finish my stories and possibly sell them or publish them on my own. --Brandon | |

| What will you do with your.............rebate Posted: 4/29/2008 3:35:08 AM | Most of everything I'm getting is going back into my tuition fund since I'm only getting most of it back because I spent so much on tuition.
I'll probably spend the small amount I'm getting back from my personal income on something for myself. I could use some new shoes and clothes, but there's a good chance that I'll either be buying a new hookah, computer upgrades, or something else that I don't need.
