My team Miami Dolphins had a great draft day one. Took and already signed Jake Long OT from Mich. The team can forget about the Left tackle for 12-15 years
The second pick we took a D/E from Clemson if we don't trade Jason Taylor he'll start in place of Mike Roth

The 3rd pick was Chad Henne the QB from Mich he should start right away for us
God Bless

DB..You have pleanty to be happy about, Looks like the Tuna is working his mojo. Looks like my Cowboys addressed their main concerns with the exception of someone to replace Roy Williams. His pass coverage ability is a major concern.

The Pats got 3 picks in the 3rd round. I predict all 3 picks are going to be defense.

Giants picked up Kenny Phillips FS and Terrel Thomas CB.
Bringing young blood in our already amazing Defense.

We still need WR OL LB

Will someone please tell me what the hell the Packers are thinking? I knew there was a reason I hated their GM, and this is why. I can understand drafting one QB, Brohm is a good pick, but why two? Why in the hell did they just draft Booty?

Edit: Apparently they did it to trade Booty to the Vikings. Even more asinine if you ask me.

Day two of the draft for the Phins I think we got a D/E and an OG that will see plenty of playing time for us. If we trade Taylor or he retires before the season I can see Merling(2a) and Langsford (3b) both startind as D/E"S this year.

In the 4th round we got Shawn Murphy OG from Utah St. I can see him starting at LG this year.He has great bloodlines his dad Dale was a two time MVP for the Atlanta Braves.

I look for a improvement to about 6-10 in 08 and the playoffs in 09.

With their 1st pick (a 2d rounder) Packer's GM Ted Thompson takes...a wide receiver(Jordy Nelson), a position the Pack is already deep at. My 1st thought is that now that Thompson has had his first (wet) dream of getting Favre out the door come true, he's going after Donald Driver.
Their 2d pick (2d round)was Louisville QB Brian Brohm; who may see playing time -or even starting- as soon as week two, given Aaron Rodgers past history.
Third pick (2d round) was a cornerback; Pat Lee from Auburn. Maybe a good move; Al Harris' days are numbered.
In the 3d round, it was TE Jermichael Finley from Texas. Physically, he seems like a Donald Lee clone, so he'll be a good backup to Lee.
4th round, DE Jeremy Thompson from Wake. Physically, the Pack may have gotten a sweet deal here; likely it was just luck-GM Ted just liked the name...
Again in the 4th-Josh Sitton, OL from Cent. FL. I'm surprised that Ted "Linemen are a dime a dozen" Thompson would draft a lineman this high...'cept the kid played at Central Florida, NOT Florida or Florida State; so maybe he'll accept some dimes instead of dollars.
5th round: Breno Giacomini, OT, Louisville. Read the review: "Giacomini has good natural size and shows a nasty streak on the field, but his technique is nowhere near being ready to play tackle in the NFL right now. He was a good project pick here." Translation: he'll be willing to accept the league minimum.
In the 7th (no 6th round pick), another QB, Matt Flynn of LSU. Figures to do the maximum allowable time on the practice squad, then it's off to Canada.
Also in the 7th: Brett Swain, WR from San Diego State. The only logical reason for this pick was the thought that Packer fans should have a transition period with at least one player named Brett on the roster...

Honestly, the only really great picks -to me- were Brohm and Thompson; but this has to be considered a crappy draft for the Packers, as they did not address one of their most glaring needs: fullback.

My Bears did okay. Luckily we didn't draft a QB, otherwise I would have been mad as all-get out.

We addressed the O-line with 3 picks, took a couple of receivers, a running back in the 2nd, and a safety that we desperately need.

I do have to say, go Chiefs and Ravens, you had great drafts on paper.

And I agree about Green Bay, bring in Brohm is like kicking Aaron Rodgers in the nuts.

If someone did kick him in the 'nads, with his history-he'd be out for the season. Ted Thompson just won't admit he f'ed up picking Rodgers in the first place.

Ummm.... Ok. I'm a Miami fan too DB TRUCKIN, but you are crazy if you think Chad Henne is going to be ready to start right away. Did you watch any of the Michigan games? He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn half the time. Let alone Miami's crappy receivers. Miami will have to live with old Joshy boy for a little while at least. Thanks to the prior GM not picking Brady Quinn the franchise is screwed for at least a few more years. 6-10 is a huge stretch, although they do have a very easy schedule, thanks to the football Gods. I'm would be happy with 4-12 or 5-11 if they get some luck. As far as making the playoffs in 09 in the AFC; I'm not holding my breath, unless Bill Parcells can pull a QB out of his butt I don't see the Fins making anything happen for a few more years.

As a Packer fan, I suppose the most anticipated moves I watched for was the position of QB for the obvious reason, Brett's retirement. I am a bit surprised we took TWO rookie QB's, with Brohm and Flynn. My biggest concern now is that we will start the season with not ONE QB ever having an NFL start. This shows a great deal of faith in Rodgers, that's for sure, since they opted not to wheel and deal for a veteran QB. I'll give him credit, he handled his own in the Dallas game last year when Favre got hurt. Only time will tell and I am looking forward to the upcoming season!

Teach, I wouldn't be too concerned about Rodgers. He's a good one and I doubt the Pack will miss a beat with him in there. He's no Iron Man like Favre but who is. Then Brohm's not a bad pickup for down the road.

I wasn't sure about Da Bears taking Williams over Otah but I do think taking an OT was a great move. Yeah, I'm clinging to hopes of Rex being good enough to win even though I'm very concerned about who he has to throw the ball to. The Bears history with picking 1st round QBs and WRs has been disastrous so I do believe they should just keep to trades and free agency on that while they flesh out the workhorse positions with quality draft picks.

Ted Thompson seems to revel in these situations: remember season before last, when we began the season with three rookies starting on the O-line? Not even during the forgettable fifties did the Pack ever do that; never before had it been done, and this team was founded in 1919!
I just hope Brohm can pick up the system by week two; I've got my doubts (and I can hear everyone here groaning: "We KNOW Steven, we KNOW!") about Rodgers durability. I agree that he did well against Dallas; I was pleasantly surprised-but I ws unpleasantly disappointed to learn that he made his way to the IR list right after, and was out for the season...we all know what happens when your starting QB isn't able to complete a season; just look south at "Da Bearssss," and Rex Grossman.

You're not alone in those feelings for sure! I have harbored the same concerns about Rodgers myself. I was at both the UK/Uof L game and the UK/LSU game. HAD I know both of them would have been drafted by the Packers, I'd have paid much more attention to their performances instead of the beer and fact that UK was actually doing well.....ha!

Techman..One issue the bears have is this. They can no longer live on ndefense alone. This is because there are tons of teams in the NFC alone that sport as good of if not better a defense with a more potent offense. They certainly wont get it done with Grossman at the helm IMO.
Also, Stating that Rogers is no Iron Man is a bit presumptious, His career is just beginning . That said, In the era of the coddled pro athlete, There may never be another Iron Man in any sport. Time will tell....

It's not that I think Rodgers isn't an "Iron Man;" I'm just a bit concerned because his recent history has led me to believe he may be a bit of a "Balsawood Man" or an "Aluminum Foil Man."

The Texans did ok.... They look Duane Brown off of neccessity and not cuz of talent level... He had a 2nd to 3rd round grade but that run on OL's in the first round scared da Texans a bit...Slaton and Molden in the 3rd will provide value in backup positions and both will have a chance to start... Adibi will be a tackling machine paired next to Ryans and Greenwood... Frank Okam could play both sides of the line and we will try him on da O-Line to see if he can fill a need...All the rest of the picks will have to earn a roster spot... The Texans also picked up some key signees after the draft... I am anticipating a 9-7 or 10-6 record this year and hopefully we can make it thru the payoffs...

Lakeside..Brown is actually the most mobile/agile tackle in the draft. As long as he stays healthy he will do wonders for their O Line. I think they filled quite a few holes this draft & you could see many of these rookies geting playing time.

i can't complain about what the packers (my team) did, for the most part... in the early rounds, that is.

brian brohm, (and i might be bias here, seeing how brohm was my favorite college player, and the QB of my absolute love, the louisville cardinals. but how great is that? your favorite college player, coming from your hometown, going to your favorite professional team since a child?) is going to prove to be a steal - mark my words. aaron rodgers will have the job this year, but he better not get too comfortable for the long haul. and that's nothing against rodgers, but i don't think he's a franchise qb.

jordy nelson should fit in nice in the stable of wide outs we already posses.

we picked up defensive backfield, and o line help, too... we'll see how they work out. but i would say we could have done a little more to sure up the secondary, as that's clearly a weakness. but we should be better.

what i don't understand, is drafting the QB out of LSU, what's his face, there's no need to have two rookie QB's in camp. waste of a pick, imo.

thanks to 'phins for taking the wrong Long.. Chris Long has a great pedigree, a kick butt work ethic, and not well known, 6 fingers on his left hand, just like dear old dad. The Rams will have a great pass rush for the forseeable future.

but after the first round the rams picks make you scratch your head....
