I'm curious to know what people think of Kimbo Slice.

So far I'm not at all impressed with the competition they have been throwing at him; especailly when his victories over said compeition are said to solidify his place in the upper eschelons of mma competition. Really, KOing Tank Abbot does that????

It's one thing to beat up guys in the parking lots of bars and in peoples backyards, but I simply can't take the guy seriously until they through some real competition his way.

A buddy at work was saying that he called out Chuck Liddell. I'd love to see that. If the Slice could beat him, well, that would be some validation of the hype. But personally, I don't think that Kimbo wants anything to do with ANY fighter the calibre of Liddell.

Give him Brock Lesnar.

Thoughts?

They had Dana White on Off The Record the other day. He basically said that he'd bring Kimbo to the UFC after he beat somebody decent. They've certainly been serving him up some soft competition so far. Tank Abbot sucked way back when the UFC was first starting out.

I hope he gets some big fights soon, because he's fun to watch and has a pretty fun personality. I think your Brock Lesnar idea is a good one.

Eh....I know that people want to see him fight a good fighter, but from a business standpoint, they're going about this the right way. He's the figurehead of the entire EliteXC organization right now, and it makes zero business sense to throw him to the wolves.

I think that with more time under his belt, he COULD be a force in the HW division. He does have great hands, fantastic head movement, and good footwork as well. Plus he's training with Bas, so you know he's getting quality coaching and can't be TOTALLY inept on the ground.

At this point, I wouldn't even talk about Brock Lesnar. He'd take Kimbo down so fast and put him on his back and probably pound him out. I don't see Kimbo's skills far enough along to handle that at this point.

EXC's doing the exact thing that they need to be with him. Building his record up fighting bigger and bigger names, but guys at the same point won't pose any threat to beating him. They're a growing org, and they need a face to their company. Having him get his face beat in by a guy that's going to pound him out on the ground, or get his arm ripped off by a good jiu jitsu guy would just throw all credibility their company has gained out the window.

I've got time for Kimbo. For a street thug he's quite respectfull. I like the way they are building him up. It makes sense to have him gaim experience by smashing some cans. Makes better sense than Brock Lesnar fighting an Ex Champ, then getting his ankle twisted. And Kimbo isn't the first "street thug" to turn to pro mma. Mark Hunt is a good example of street fighter turned success mma fighter.

Kimbo is simply a commodity at this point, and EXC is going to protect him at all costs.

That means throwing fights his way that he has very little chance of losing, and if they can get them, throwing a past-prime big name fighter (I think I remember him calling out Ken Shamrock).

His next fight is James Thompson, a fighter with a suspect chin who constantly runs into the fray swinging. It's tailor made for Kimbo to win ESP considering that Thompson is something like 1-5 for his last six fights.

If EXC were to put him up against a real HW with real skills and get beaten, his whole mystique would be damaged, and therefore less bankable. Having Kimbo fight cans = Cash for EXC.

Kimbo is a scrub. The last time I was in Florida he got all bent out of shape when I beat him 3 games in a row in chess, beat him twice arm wrestling and 5 times in a no-holds barred staring contest.

We then proceeded to see who can out drink each other. Lets just say, watching him stumble home and telling all the white guys how hot they look was the highlight of the evening.

Oh yeah, his beard is completely fake. When he passed out I used wore it on my butt for the rest of the evening and told everyone it was "taint" hair. You should have seen how many free drinks I got because of that lolz.

He is tough, but not elite like a UFC fighter, but 99% of the world is not either. Just like anyone else, he would have to continue to train.....

Of course he's not going to be going up against high class opponents, the guy is a complete amateur at UFC level so has to learn his trade but fair play to him for having a crack at it & doing it.

As a stand up hitter few will match him in the UFC but as for technical expertise in taking down opponents round after round then that's where he is gonna struggle but give him a chance to really find his feet & then you'll really see what he's made of.

He's a crowd puller for the minute but then the novelty of that will wear off once he stands up against some higher skilled opponents.

The guy sucks.

He is strong and is an ok brawler, but that is it.

He wouldn't even last 2 minutes with Lesnar.

Brock would put him on his back and pound his head it.

its like I have been telling everyone from day 1 the second Kimbo goes up against a UFC wash out (no offence to Seth). Kimbo would get wrecked and look what happened in 14 seconds

P.S. I am aware that Tank Abbot fough in the UFC, but I don't consider him to be much of a fighter, the guy has been doing this for years, and has never bothered to train his cardio, and sub's.

straight up Kimbo has come a long way from were he started i.e street brawls... personally I think Kimbo has the talent to become some of the best. not to mention my best friends trains at the gym that Kimbo goes to to train and he is getting alot better with his ground work I watch him train sometimes. I also belive that soon after a little more training Kimbo could possibly beat Liddell so, theirs my point of view
