I am new to this online dating thing. Must admit I am a little skeptical but seein as my luck in love has been nil. I figured why not give it a try. But I want to know really what you all belive.
Do you honestly think you can meet someone online and have a solid serious relationship or is a let loose let's have fun thing?
Can't wait to hear what you all have to say.

I met my last ex online. While it didn't last for various reasons that have nothing to do with the internet....we were together for nearly 10 yrs.
I have been on many dates from here since last summer. I have enjoyed myself on all except one.
But I am also not one to sit back and wait for men to contact me. I tend to be the initiator. | |

You have to keep all avenues open.
Of course the forums are always informative, funny and sometimes just plain ole entertaining.
Just relax, go with it. Lose the skepticism, give it a chance. Then if you're still skeptical leave. | |

This site is terrific, you may even find that you will also discover friends, especially here in the forums.

I actually had two very short relationships with women who had my values, we just were not a proper match. I had a few dates with women who had potential but they were one shot fast dinner dates without so much as a kiss, it wasn't on this site. In the 80's I ran a personal ad and had 100's of responses and had almost 200 dates with different women, most went no place, one I got engaged to!!! I had an amazing love affair but with the internet , profiles, and matching technology great things are possible if you are looking for the real thing. If you are just lookin for anything I bet you could get a few of em a week? Yes! I do think internet dating sites hold great potential for a diverse population with a wide array of goals. Too bad I broke up with my fiance from the personal ads, I just kept trying, while waiting for a woman who stood me up I met the woman I married and was true to for 18 years, too bad I didn't have her profile, I was looking for a lifetime love. | |

I'm also fairly new to this site and I'm hoping to meet someone as I live in a small town where available men are pretty scarce, and the ones that are don't want to commit.
If anyone has any tips I'd appreciate hearing them...
I've been honest in my profile and my pic is recent (2 months old), but I think I've put my body as average, but I'm a size 10, which isn't a few pounds overweight, but I'm not skinny either, so what should I put???

Well for me Fish is mainly about the forums, having a natter with and/or see the various opinions of all sorts of people from all over the place. If I meet someone very special through it fine...but it's not my main aim in life just now (I'm simply open to the possibility of it). It's just as possible to meet your future partner offline as it is here...I believe anything is possible (I know I'm sickenly positive hee hee). So I consider it as another avenue of getting to know some interesting people (and ignoring the numpties lol).

How do I show my pic when answering? LOL, yes you guessed, haven't done this before...
When you view someones profile click on the message button (at the bottom of the page). Underneath the message box should be a small version of your pic/s on your profile which you can add to your message.

Beyond that, the reports trickling in are not encouraging for that "solid serious relationship" thing, nor does it sound like people are having much fun out there. | |
