We play Euchre every Monday at Cactus Pete's Bar and Grill ( locally known as The Birchmount) in the Birchmount Plaza, right smack dab on the north west corner of Birchmount Ave and Danforth Rd in Scarborough.
***Please note that Danforth Rd is the Danforth that angles down through Scarborough and NOT the Danforth Ave that stretches across the east end of the city. Birchmount intersects with both Danforth Rd and Danforth Ave. The one we are at is one block south of St. Clair Ave.
Start Time: 7:15 pm until whenever the action dies down. Most people play until close to 10:00 pm. A few games last until that time (or even later). Come early, come late, always room. We are getting anywhere between 24 to 30 people each week, with a great balance of both men and women.
Admission is absolutely free. The owners assure us there is no obligation to spend while playing euchre. The place is otherwise dead on a Monday night. Although we do get together in a bar, we are in a separate area where there's coffee, tea and soft drinks available for anyone that prefers them. There is also a full menu of great, reasonably priced food! Quite a few people show up early for dinner.
Coffee is now set up where we play. (on the honour system)-----No need to order.
If you are taking the TTC, the 69B (Via Birchmount) bus takes about 5 minutes from Warden Station. The bus leaves Warden Station at 6:20 pm, 6:40 pm, 7:00 pm, 7:15 pm, 7:30pm and every 15 minutes after that.
Since so many people ask this----we do teach the game to anyone that wants to learn. It's been very laid back with the emphasis on a fun time. The focus is not on winning but on having an enjoyable evening. You'll meet some warm, friendly people in a very relaxed environment. Even if you don't play cards, there are pool tables that are available as well and you can always just come on in and say hello.

Posted: 5/1/2008 4:57:12 AM | Well I signed up but not sure if I will be there till much later. One of my leagues starts this night and I have a game out in Ajax at 7:00 so I will try and drop in afterwards just to see my euchre buds.
I know Just Lucky will miss me so someone yell "play your heart" at her for me just so she doesn't go through BBF withdrawal.

I tell you and tell you. . . .GO ALONE!!
I want to remind everyone that we are not restricted to playing EUCHRE. We call it euchre night so the acronym will spell P.E.N.I.S. I've been contacted by some people who would rather play other games, be it cards, or some board games. Please feel free to come on out and start another game. Gin Rummy anyone? This week coming, four of us have decided to play SPADES for a bit.
Also, I am wondering if there is enough interest to play on the Victoria Day Monday? I live so close it wouldn't be a problem for me to host that night whether anyone shows up or not. So this is to let anyone know that wants to come out on the holiday---I WILL BE THERE. I believe it will be May 19th.
Does anyone know what has become of Francis? She hasn't been out the past two weeks and I don't know her alias so I can't contact her through POF. Does anyone know her or her alias on here?

Hey hey now Llindy Llou, don't forget about Noah's long green snake! Sssssssssssss Noah, why don't you bring him out for an encore event?? 
Last week I left early, cuz I was EXHAUSTED, it's been a rough couple of weeks. I'm hoping to be there for din-din at 6:00 p.m. if anyone wants to join me. Llindy Llou, Anne, Marie, Noah, Mark, Eric, Marilyn, Gord?

Hey, I have a really cool card game that I bought in Las Vegas a few years ago. It's called, "THINGS.....Humour In A Box"
The jest of the game is one person pulls a card out from a deck, and it will have sayings like, "THINGS....you shouldn't try to do in the dark?" Another great card reads, "THINGS....that could get you arrested?" Anyway, I would assume since it's an "open discussion" game, you could either play in tables of 4 or 8 or even a dozzen people, if they all wanted to play. Everyone gets a piece of paper to write their answer on, and then all responses go in a box, and you read the answers out one by one, then everyone has to guess who wrote what answer. This game has filled MANY a girl's nights, especially with questions like, "THINGS...you should kiss?" This game has been a blast on many New Years Eves too. There are some very thought provoking questions too like, "THINGS....that should come with a manual?" What do you possibly think every guys answer is always: "MY WIFE!!"
Anyway, I'm not trying to change the theme of the night, or high-jack the thread from the Hosts of our Monday night outtings. I'm just thinking that there are a quite a few of us who've met at Euchre, and we now do social things outside of Monday night Euchres: The Party In Courtice last month, Drinking Dave's Whiskey In Marie's Car, Friday Night At The Birchmount, THE BLACK WIG starring Nikki and Llindy Llou, and so many more memorable events. There are Marie's Thursday Nights At McGradies, and I heard something about a bowling league? By playing a light-hearted game like "THINGS....." it's definitely a quick way to find out if you might have chemistry with someone right under your nose?
