| Tube the Guadalupe *CAR POOL NEEDED* Posted: 4/30/2008 4:38:05 AM | Good idea Nocinaus! The closer we get to tubin' time, the more activity we will have on the threads. Hopefully, it will work out with carpooling and other things if need be. | |

| Tube the Guadalupe *CAR POOL NEEDED* Posted: 4/30/2008 8:12:26 AM | Hey Shende and Noc ...
I would be willing to be the hauling truck (as my extended cab pickup can hold everything we need to take with us ... however I will be in need of a tent (don't have one) so I'll trade a ride for a place to sleep LOL

| Tube the Guadalupe *CAR POOL NEEDED* Posted: 7/16/2008 9:17:02 PM | | Let's not let the price of gas stop us from having a great weekend! Fishies are coming from all over so if anyone is interested in carpooling this is the place to "offer" or post a ride "wanted".... it's going to be a blast! | |

Posted: 7/21/2008 8:27:14 AM | | sorry i didn't see this thread on tubin the river or the other one with the event already planned. Wish I had known though. I had vacation time off from 7/25 thru 7/28 to go tubing and my kids have cancelled on me, friends cancelled on me, etc. but I'm going heck or high water without them. So i'll see you folks there as I always camp at Mt. Breeze. Gonna try to get a spot at the riverside this year though. If anyone still needs a ride, I'm leaving at 5:00 am friday morning to get there arly, get camp set up and be able to tube on Friday and Saturday. Probably will hit the River Road Ice House Saturday night to see Aaron Watson, cover is $10.00 . The concert for Roger Creager at Grist Mill is already sold out which makes me sad, he's my favorite. There is also an ampitheater now on the river down near the horseshoe that has concerts all year round. Hope to see you all there.

| Tube the Guadalupe *CAR POOL NEEDED* Dallas?Tyler?SanAntonio? Houston? Posted: 7/21/2008 2:43:15 PM | | NONONONO....just a little rain can make the water run off from the surrounding streams and tributaries and hills of the hill country SWELL the river in a matter of moments....it comes down those darn hills and into the river and causes the outflow from Canyon Damn to increase beyond what the normal outflow (CFS>..cubic feet per second) is. Like I was saying in my other post, river was flowing at 400 CFS Sunday, a thunderstorm came through, not really heavy rain but it was the second day in a row it "rained" and by god they closed river road mandiatorily meaning if you didn't go you went to jail and people were trapped in tubes, canoes, etc. Heck I have the pics of what a little rain can do to that river that I can bring along if you'd like to see. You couldn't even see where the damn and chutes were, they were completely under water and when we went back in July to Schlitterbahn and drove down River Road again, it was STILL like that and was closed pretty much all summer long and this was last summer. Don't ever think that a little rain on that river is ok because it's not and that's what gets people killed on that river along with the excessive drinking. Folks take it easy and enjoy it, we are there to have fun, not get killed. I'd hate to leave Sunday with a fatality. | |

I am also an EMT and certified in swift water rescues. I was in in no way, shape, form or fashion downplaying what flooding can do. I was trying to make light of the fact that there is a chance of rain coming after I have busted my hiney for the last 3 months getting this event planned and organized so that everyone here can enjoy the river as I have in the past.

That is great news to know that we will have some professional help nearby also in case any of us get too drunk and fall out of our tubes, lol. Or God forbid one too many people tie up their tubes to float together and get to the damn and go over it like I almost did the first year I tubed, lol. God what a sight to untie 10 tubes with drunk arse women in them and watch them slip and slide all over the rocks trying to get untied and over the sides of the chutes as opposed to going over the damn there, lol. Can't wait to meet you all, sounds like it's going to be a great party!

I might get my truck fixed by the do date, but don't know yet. Truck went down yesterday and I will need a transmission....fun, fun. I have a 6 man tent and all the extras. dishes for two, stove, coolers, etc... If you have a trailer hitch, I have a small trailer to pull. Used to pull behind Motorcycle. I can get all camping stuff in it.....LOL I can help you with gas as well, but we can talk about that if the time comes.. Don't know if your still looking Kevin 512 779-5375
