| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 4/29/2008 10:23:48 PM | POF singles from the Northwest Arkansas Area will be having a BBQ at Prairie Creek on Saturday, May 17th. We have reserved the Overlook Pavilion which is only a couple hundred feet from the water and the view is great. Contact Gayla of me regarding what food or supplies to bring. This event will require a bit more coordination than previous ones so please let us know soon if you plan to attend. The Army Corps of Engineers charges $4 per car to enter the park unless you have a national park pass. There are camping facilities and places to hook up your RV or pitch a tent. There is also a boat ramp nearby. Plan to make this an all day event. We will be looking for volunteers to cook, help with activities or whatever. steve Following Members are Attending This Party... | Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 4/30/2008 8:52:37 AM | | Gayla and I have discussed this and determined it would be best if men would bring meat to cook and ladies would bring other food dishes. As always this is more up to you than us so we will act as coordinators and help you with the event as it evolves. Helpers and guys who will cook should plan to be there by at least 9 to get a fire started in the two fire pits. We will need people to volunteer to bring charcoal or wood to burn, lighter fluid etc and general picnic items. The guys are cooking for the girls this time. Any questions, ask away and I will make up something which sounds plausable as an answer. steve (formerly wordsenchanting) | |

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/1/2008 12:36:51 PM | Sounds like a real hoot. I'm thinking about bringing my party barge. First time on this lake. I noticed on aerial photography that there were two large islands about 2 miles east. They look to be uninhabited, and wooded, with good beaches. Maybe a good place for an excursion for those that enjoy remote hiking or exploring, or some sunbathing and secluded cove's. Anyone knowing anything about these two particular islands east of the park let me know. Andy | |

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/1/2008 11:54:13 PM | The Prairie Creek Park is found by going on Highway 12 east out of Rogers until you get to the town of Prairie Creek Turn left when you see the boat launch and park sign I will try to post better directions soon
Well behaved kids are welcome Guests are welcome. People with boats and party barges are welcome.
The Army Corps charges fees for boat launching, camping and the fees are all different for everything. They have info sites online with rates and maps posted
Gayla is "out of pocket" (that means "busy somewhere else" for you city slickers) for a few days so she will not be able to answer your emails or questions. Write to me if you have any other questions steve

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/5/2008 6:48:24 PM | Would it be appropriate to bring my 13 yr old daughter with me? Is this a "kid friendly" gathering? Will there be alcohol or drugs around? I dont know how far I am from all the action Ill have to maquest this area from Clarksville. I am from Wisconsin and dont ask me how we wound up here but here we are and we actually went from cracking jokes about Arkansas to truely loving it and we plan to stay. :) We have been here since Sept '07 I might come for the drive and to get out for a bit if my daughter would be welcome but I wouldnt stay any longer than to get home before dark. I can bring food :) Ill let you know if I am a "fer shure" soon as I can. And ummmmmm yes the snake and mud bit did scare me off as well. When we first moved out here we got a lower duplex on the river in London and we had water moccasins and scorpions IN THE HOUSE! One day I was letting my puppy out and closed the door and went to go out shortly after to find 1/2 a snake withering around by the door. I must have chopped it in half when I bought the puppy back in. I hadnt even noticed....... never did find the other half. We lasted 4 and 1/2 months there LOL We are now in town in Clarksville UP STAIRS! ha! But if its not too far away I thought it would be a nice drive to check out the area. Im deaf BTW so really aint looking for anyone to be interested in me in a romatic kinda way or put a damper on anyones good time trying to communicate with me. Might come out ..... Just fer chits n giggles LOL Michelle | |

I myself thought of bringing alcohol , unless , since the subject came up, someone said no.. so, let me know , if the answer is "NO".. LOL>. sounds like i'm drunk already the way this sounds..

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/6/2008 11:58:05 AM | Ummmmmmmm OK LOL I dont think anything of the sort. I have been married 2 times and have had plenty of romance and we did visit some before marrying LOL But thanks for the encouragment I guess. My guess is you read my profile and mis-interpreted some things but thats OK. I personally have no clue what the social setting will be like for me as I have lost so much hearing in the last couple years and have not been out socialising in forever. But I will tell you when I say that I dont push myself on people and "force" them into uncomfortable situations with my deafness and insisting they find a way to communicate with me.... On the same note I dont like someone pushing themselves on me in that manner and forcing me to try to understand them either. See I am not only talking about causing others stress but myself as well LOL I do NOT in any way think less of myself or think I am not a worthwhile person or think I am not worth getting to know ...... I think its a barrier and sometimes I personally do well with it and sometimes i dont. The last thing in the world I have is low self esteem LOL I LOVE to talk which makes up for not being able to hear and am told I am quite entertaining :) So I hope that cleared things up for you a bit. :) Michelle PS I think my neighbor and I may come togeather with my daughter? | |

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/6/2008 4:15:05 PM | I am looking forward to joining in and meeting you all! While I live in Eureka and as you know Beaver Lake is everywhere, I am not sure of the location. If you could pinpoint it for me or direct me to a webite where I could figure it out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/7/2008 8:10:22 AM | | This event will start when you get there. I suppose we should target eating lunch for 1:30 pm or so but fires and cooking do not always cooperate with timeclocks. I plan to be there and others have expressed the desire to be there the night before which will make it a camping event for those of us who wish to do that. I think people should plan to be there by 9 or 10am but it is Saturday and some people like to sleep in so I am posting mo set time. Just enjoy your day. If you plan to camp out you better make arrangements to be there early enough to reserve a camping spot. I am not sure if the park allows early registrations or reservations but I will try to find out. We have been informed by a helpful friend that the park does not allow alcoholic beverages and Benton County is a dry county. | |
