Men claiming to be ex-cops or have friends that are
Posted: 4/30/2008 6:53:06 AM
I am so tired of men claiming to be ex police officers and saying that they are going to "look me up". Or...have a "friend cop" do it.

Why do so many men threaten this?
I have nothing to hide but my personal information is just that, personal.
These men in all cases (I have heard the threat at least 4-5x in the short time I've been on here), it was AFTER I turned him down.

Is it a matter of being bitter? Mad? Revenge? A POWER thing? Obsessive issue?

I know another woman that is also on this site and asked her if it has happened to her. Guess what? It has just happened to her too! She said it has been more than once too.

I would like to hear if any other women have gone through this on this or another personals site.
Anyone that wants to blame me for these mens' angry behavior, save it. lol

Nope, never had this happen. Sorry.

Can't imagine whey they'd do it. Seems like an awful lot of them are drawn to you, though. The probability of that many random men doing the same odd-ball thing to you, seems a little weird to me.

That's just weird. I've never heard of something like this happening... let alone happening more than once.

I won't blame *you* personally for experiencing this type of behavior, but I'm believer that consistent counter-behavior is caused by a similar stimulus. As in - what are you doing that makes somebody want to scare with notifying the police?

...oh, I actually *did* blame you, huh? But I promise I won't call the cops to have you looked up! lol.

All I have to do it turn them down.
I have never done anything that anyone would need or want to call the police for.

Yes...I have had the same thing happen to me. A lot!
I just dont' let men have my phone number or my main email. So the don't know me well, till I know them well. I meet them at public places.
This isn't the only site it happens at. I have been at two other sites that were paying sites....
Oh by the way...my family is in law enforcement.
There are lots of ways to find out about people and you don't need to be in law enforcement or have friends that are.
Be careful sisters!

I am ex-law enforcement. If someone states they have done this, you need to contact your local law enforcement. This is a serious ethics breach, not to mention a felony depending on which state you live in. They will want to investigate this.

Hi, I know what you mean.
I AM an ex cop. It's really simple. Ask them for their police license number. If they were a cop in MN they have to have one. Alternatively, you can report them to the Minnesota BCA for impersonating a cop. Even if you don't want to do that, just the threat will shut the "a-hole" up. I run into a lot of people that say they were or even are a cop, and when I ask a few simple questions, I then get in the face because of the obvious liar they are... It is based in insecurity, or a general lying nature. They might have tried to become a cop, they might have thought about it, and the general impersonal nature of this forum allows them to spread bullshit really thick.
My advice? Ask those questions. Ask for a phone number. Ask to have them fax/email the police license to you. Smoke and mirrors. Block the guy. Report him to pof. Lots of things you can do to continue to enjoy this site. Don't let the a holes get you down. Dave
