| Has anyone else had this problem with the ear phones/buds for the ipod? Posted: 5/2/2008 9:55:08 AM | When I first got my ipod I'm sure they were fine, or at least I didn't notice. But a couple of months ago I noticed that the left ear phone is quieter and duller than the other one.
They also don't play loud either, when I turn the volume up to the max most songs are either an average volume or on the quiet side, especially when I'm in a noisy enviroment like sitting on a bus. I've messed about with the settings to but I can't really get it any better.

For some dumb reason I just never thought of taking the ipod back to the shop to get them replaced. Not sure if it's still in gaurantee now though, have to find the reciept.

Posted: 5/2/2008 4:58:34 PM | I can't wear the little earbuds for very long--they irritate the very sensitive skin of my ears. I much much prefer to wear an over-the ears headset like the ones Bose makes because they don't touch the skin tissue near the opening of my ear canal, which is very sensitive and prone to irritation. Do others reading this thread also prefer the larger headphones?
I've also found that the sound quality on the large headphones is much better.

I've gone through countless pairs of headphones like that. Granted, I take mine running/biking. Just the act of wrapping a pair of headphones around your mp3 player or ipod is enough to loosen the wires over time, though.

Posted: 5/3/2008 7:07:50 AM | | I don't have an Ipod, but almost every pair of earbuds or earphones I've ever owned have been like that. On some I couldn't hear with the left one at all. Someone once told me they're made that way because with most people the right ear is the dominant ear,but I don't know if that's true or not.

I know welder has gone through 5 pairs in about 6 months. I'm sure I should just go on and order another pair off of ebay while I'm thinking about it....
Common cause...wires get loose or get a nick somewhere in them OR the 'speaker' is blown.

If you can afford a good one, get the best pair you can get, and they will last you a long time. What you shell out for the headphones will pay for itself time again by not constantly having to replace cheap ear buds.

They always seemed so tinny and lacking in bass. I picked up a pair of Sony headphones, earbuds actually. They fit inside your ear like an earplug, basically a BOSE ripoff. Since they are in your ear, I think you get a bit of conduction which gives you some pretty good bass response.
They were pretty cheap, I think around $40 or so.
I would definately look into getting some new ones.
The ones I have look like this.....

Yeah, I always wrap them into a loop when I'm finished if you know what I mean (basically like your wrapping them around nothing).

Yeah, I do like headphones, the sound quality is way better, but I only wear them at home though, I'd feel a bit self concious wearing a massive pair of headphones outside, lol. But they do suit some people.

Thanks. I've noticed that when I keep the earbuds pushed into my ears with my thumbs they sound so much more better, they have great bass, and I always wish that they'd stay like that all the time.
