A friend of mine (oh ok it was me) tried one of those 900 numbers once. At 15 I thought it was the greatest thing in the World. Then I watch an episode on 20/20 and saw what those 900 ladies looked like. I didn't think I could feel any worse and then my parents got the phone bill.

Don't think it can't happen - telephone calls between your home and the rest of the world are unencrypted and can be heard by anyone, no matter what kind of phone you're talking on. Also if you happen to be using a 900 MHz cordless phone and your neighbor has an older police scanner (or a modified newer one) that can be a party too. Back in the old days before cell phones were digital (prior to 2/9/08 in some cases) it could make for quite an afternoon of entertainment having the scanner playing out the conversations of all the guys out in the truck on their cell phones cheating on their wives....
