Hysterectomy before 40

Hello ladies...

Apologies if this is a redundant.

I am scheduled for a complete and total hysterectomy on Monday. Removal of all internal parts female...ovaries, uterus, cervix, the whole works - for medical reasons I'd rather not get into.

Curious to know if any of you laides have undergone this complete "hollowing", and if yes how has it affected your sex life?

I am mentally fine with not being able to have any more children, and understand the medical reasons for which this needs to be done...but am nervous about the living without my parts after and the affect it will have.

I am suspect and hope to avoid any HRT but without my ovaries and uterus don't know if that is possible. Has any undergone this and not used any Replacement Therapies??

Any and all experienced replies are appreciated!!
Thanks!!

I had my hysterectomy in Dec but still have my ovaries. The sex has gotten lots better not worrying about pregnancy issues. I for one am glad I had it done (for medical reasons as well) and I'm much more "excited" and wet since the surgery. The orgasms are much better and I just feel like I can really let go now. Hope this helps and hope your surgery goes well, too.

I was spayed at age 32 and couldnt be happier! I can walk past the feminine hygeine aisle and laugh. It hasnt affected my sex life negatively at all. Youll be down for awhile afterward, but once you bounce back youll be good to go! No more pregnancy worries and theres sooo much freedom in that. I wish you the best in your recovery!

Hi,
I am 42 years old. I had to have my uterus removed when I was 27 due to an injury. That was okay because I wasn't planning anymore children and I didn't have to worry about periods anymore or hrt.
When I was 35 they found an ovarian tumor so then I had to have everything removed: both fallopian tubes and both ovaries and my cervix. I was hoping to get by without hrt but I just couldn't. The worst part of it was the hot flashes and mood swings. I was down emotionally for awhile but I finally accepted the fact that I needed the hormones and once I did that I started feeling more like myself again. No more pregnancy worries. Just listen to your body and don't fight it if you need hormones. I am on a hormone patch. It is wonderful.
Good Luck.

I had a total hysterectomy at 35. Tried various HRT dosages for a year, but finally gave them up. That meant dealing with hot flashes and night sweats for a couple of years, but it wasn't all that bad.

Unfortunately, at the time, being without those hormones totally killed my sex drive, but then, too, my marriage was having other problems. We eventually divorced, and my sex drive is back full force. Now, at 51, it's nice to have all those menopause symptoms over and done with just as many of my friends are getting started with them. And it's GREAT to not have to deal with periods!

Hey there.... I had an almost complete hysterectomy a year ago and still have one ovary left.

My sex drive has increased ten fold since then and I feel better than ever! Now to find someone to share that drive with! hehehe

Good luck and yeah.... 2 weeks is really pushing it....... do not overdo it for at least 6 weeks.... you may feel okay, but internally you will still be healing.

Hello laughinglibra... maybe I could help you if you have an itch to scratch?

Serious though... OP... I've been involved with two ladies who have gone through the process.

So, just to give you a man's point of view...
Forgive my ignorance in some areas. ;)

With the first... she was an older woman, already had all the kids she wanted... and so, she was happy about not having to worry about pregnancy anymore.
Things were a lot more... spontaneous... we could enjoy it anywhere, anytime... no worries about contreception or anything.
Right after the operation... she was down for a time... and it took her a while to adjust... she had to get on the HRT to balance out. But, after a while... things improved greatly.
She felt better. Apparently didn't have to worry about the "woman troubles" anymore. And her sex drive went through the roof. She wanted it all the time, and never had any fears about it anymore. Which I was happy to see. Because she could be totally wild, without regret or worry.

With the other, she'd had the procedure done before I'd met her. She had cancer at a young age (I think it was cervical, but I don't remember exactly).
But anyway... she hadn't told me about it until we started getting really serious. Because she knew I was interested in having children. Now, it's not a make or break deal for me... I would like to have children if possible... but if it doesn't happen... that's alright.
But I very much respected her being honest and open with me about it. I could tell that it did bother her though. She actually had wanted children herself... but was now unable to. She did tend to have periods of mild depression. Nothing too serious... but she'd be... less happy. Sometimes just feeling really lethargic and unmotivated.
But overall... she was still a wonderful and very cheerful woman.

You've made it clear that you're fine with not having any more children. So that's good. I don't think you should have any troubles. It's clear that after the procedure, you can still have a full and wonderful relationship with a man. And hell, who knoes, maybe you'll be one of those blessed with the boosted sex drive.

My wife had a total hysterectomy at 32. They couldn't find one of her ovaries but doc said he wasn't going to diddle daddle around in there looking for it since its not to uncommon for women to only have one ovary . They did the procedure completely through her vagina, no outside cuts or stitches what so ever. I don't think it hurt her drive any, she was sore the first few times we had sex. However, she is now my ex-wire. She wanted a divorce six months after the procedure.
