| Anyone been to Prague or Columbia in 2007 or 2008? Posted: 5/4/2008 5:01:41 PM | It seems that as of 2007, Prague was like getting the best of Western Europe at much lower prices. But in 2008, the dollar has really fallen even though Prague is not on the Euro.
Also, I have read that Prague is now a 'hot spot'. And the people are not friendly to Americans.
My other choice is one of the major cities in Columbia. I have read that North Americans are actually liked. The dollar seems strong. And I have read that Columbian women particularly like North American men (I am retired and single so that would be a plus).
These are the two areas I have narrowed down after a lot of research.
This is not just a vacation. As my profile states, i am retired and at some point, i might consider relocating out of this country. And while other countries do interest me, they are out of my retirment budget (like London)
Anyone with any recent experience visiting or living in one of these areas?
Thanks for any information.

The peso is gaining strength against the dollar but it is still pretty reasonable there. Beautiful country and yes the woman are very friendly. What city are you going to?

I am not sure. if i do go to Columbia, i am wanting to go to one of the major cities that has the most to do. Right now, I am going to do some more research and see how things are going. I will probably make my decision around late August.

| That really surprises me about Prague Posted: 5/8/2008 3:14:40 PM | I have done a LOT of research since 2001. I keep changing my list of places due to the failing dollar, it has been 'discovered', etc.
But I have read that Prague is NOW a toursit trap.
But arond 1997, it was supposed to a great place to be since it was about the time of the fall of communisin . Just what I read. You went there.
I kind of doubt I will go to Prague. It was cheap as central Europe goes in 2007. But the dollar is taking a beating against their curency this year. And there is bad inflation.

Great place to buy gold/jeweleries! Woman's best place to shop! bring your lady friend there!! hahaha.
I was stationed in Italy for 2 years, and I loved Italy! you might give Italy a try! since you are in a retirement mode. Or even Spain.
Beautiful culture, language, arts, people, oh everything. I just love ITALY!!!
