Men? Planting your seed vs adoption?

Sooo. . . I would really like to adopt kids. I have no desire to become pregnant - live through nine months of incubation- nor pop a 5-9lb child out of my u know what. Although I have told my friends, that I would have a biological child if my partner REALLY wanted to plant his seed. Gentlemen - Future Fathers - how important is it to you to pass along your DNA? Keep in mind that the world is overpopulated - and there are vast amounts of AMAZING children who would love to have a good father in their life. I would appreciate the feedback.
Cheers,
Amanda

Adoption is a rule-out. I was dating someone who (for different reasons) had a preference for adoption. I told her that would be a terminal decision for the relationship. I definitely am in favor of my own DNA.

i want kids someday but not anytime soon and i want to spread my dna as you put it, its nature its been planted into are brains. But that doesn't mean i cant love a child thats not mine. The fact that its a creation of two being's hopefully me and the one i love i find very special and one day i will want that, but its all personal chose, there are many that don't care about the child being theirs biologically and i can love a child thats not mine "dna" as much as one that is but i will never adopt cus parenthood is one hell of a job and i got to care for the ones ill have if i ever do. P.S. 5-9lb's is not always right lol try 11lb 6oz yea very fun

Ha well I have more experience in this topic than most. I had an adopted little brother, and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. But take into effect he was traumatized and such things (ect ect). The point there being i think the younger the adoption the better. I personally wouldnt mind adopting as long as the child was healthy and young enough not to have the memories of some horrid childhood that could come back to haunt me. I feel bad for these kids but unfortunately it can't be helped and I watched as it tore one of my moms friend family apart.

Hello All,
I thought I'd ring in here... I'm a single woman in the international adoption process as we speak. I grew up with adopted kids all around me and I've always wanted to adopt vs. having my own children. The desire to adopt instead of giving birth really freed me up so to speak. I lived overseas, I traveled A LOT, got over-educated, switched careers, chased a few dreams and have always been surrounded by amazing people. Had I been focused solely on giving birth things would have been a lot different for me. I would have focused on finding a man to procreate and perhaps due to that old biological clock, I would have settled for, well, less than I deserve like soooo many people have done, hence the divorce rate, right? Spreading ones DNA is very much a man thing, and while I respect that, there's more than 4 million orphans in the world as we speak. They could use a home... and great dad's too! Spread your DNA but adopt too...

I think adoption is great and adoption has a very long history to it , there have been leaders of men and kings whom were adopted. This world has sooo much misery I think It would be great to give some child a loving home who might otherwise be sucked into the foster care system. ( not to say I would or would not want my own children )
