Still I just can't think of the punishment that could possibly be appropriate. He is 73 and won't live much longer. Mabye buried alive would be a nice way for him to go. Still it's a tough call. If he was a younger man, it would be easy to come up with something. At least he will burn for this. | |

Posted: 5/6/2008 3:25:14 AM | I've followed this story for a few days now. And still having trouble wrapping my head around the mental make up of either the mother or father. So far the mom doesn't look to be another Karla Homolka, but I'd wait for a thorough investigation before betting the farm. As for the father, that behaviour goes completely against the natural instinct of a parent to protect their children. I doubt I am able to ever fully understand people like that. The bottom line is society has no need for people like this, so if guilty then I have no problem with society eliminating them, Broke beyond repair.
Castration is unlikely to help though. Punishment fine, revenge not so much. And nothing says the twisted individual is still not capable of locking away another person and raping with objects if the "frank and beans" are gone. But if he is guilty a round in the brainpan nicely solves both dilemmas in my mind. | |

Posted: 5/6/2008 7:10:10 AM | IMO, if you want vengeance following a truly horrible crime against yourself or your family member it's understandable (trust me I'm Italian and I totally understand the vendetta -- I would avenge one of my close relatives) but the State shouldn't kill or castrate its citizens.
I think true vengeance for a horrible crime against oneself or one's family member is better off (if delivered at all) delivered personally -- I dislike the DP administered by the state, in that creepy quasi-clinical setting of the lethal injection for example. After all, life imprisonment w/out parole is no cakewalk either and is a kind of living death, IMO. BUT...regardless..... in this case here, 15 yrs is definitely too light, even by Euro standards, for this level of offense. He'll be out in half that. | |

I know that sounds like drastic action but I have held fractured young people who have been through this and believe me their life is never the same again. Oh that's nice. I was just poking a little fun at a very serious situation. I happen to feel that the wife in this case should get the book thrown at her just as harshly as the husband. Now. I find the Austrians really odd people .Very cold although I met some non Austrians coming to Britain from Austria saying how they missed it.How it was so safe at night etc. How kind the people were and how much the law as in police are on the ball and generally visable . | |
