Please bear with me as I am new to the forum. My question is has anyone you have known given out your cell phone number to say a sex line.It happened to me and I received 58 calls from all over the united states.I was very hurt and angry.A women who was my friend did this .I contacted the police but dont feel like they take it to be important enough to help me.Any suggestions would be greatley appreciated. I did change my number but feel thats not enough.

Well you already changed your number so that's out of the way. Really unless you never give out your number again at all there is no way to prevent idiots from doing stupid mean things to you.

Next time they call, give them my number.

But seriously, back when we had beepers for work, the guys in our crew would page each other with whatever the real number is to 800-HOT-STUD or any other phrase you can make up and then wait to hear them dial on speakerphone from their cubicle.

Don't sweat it, unless, that is, that you're uptight about it. Don't let the person who did it know that it got to you. Steal their fire, as it were.

No Im not uptight but there are reasons why it affected me so deeply which I wont go into. Then to have to change my number and give it out to family friends etc, Brings the question why did you change your number? I need my phone as most of us do also have a daughter whos away at school so she needs to be able to contact me.Not fun being woke up at all hours of the night.

A women who was my friend did this

And why haven't you wrote her number on every bathroom wall, placed an ad on craigslist, and created a couple of profiles on the slut sites with her number listed to explain to her there are some things she shouldn't do?

It is always nice to have a friend betray you in that way(umm being facetious)...Sorry, but that woman would be known all over the place..You did the right thing by changing your number. The police will not do anything but maybe the FCC would, I dont know.

Since you already changed the number, no need to worry about that anymore, right?

Yeah, when I gave my number to a man here, and we had one date that pretty much revealed him as full of bs, he gave out my number, another guy pushed for phone sex and he gave out my number, a few other guys would NOT honor my call time schedules, so I just don't give the number out. I had the exes of a local friend of mine stalk me, for reasons I never got, and one got ahold of my email by pretending to be a guy, then contacted his contacts pretending to be me, and contacted men pretending to be me and the men replied to me. When I explained to the men that I had been impersonated and needed the original emails, no one cooperated... except one. I'll slam dunk her azz if she bothers me again and told her so. So far, she's left me alone these last few months. She said she'd moved on with her life.... then why impersonate me and tell his contacts that he's a horrible person? I had six quiet months and had just told a friend THAT day that I thought she and her cohort were done and moved on and it was all over. I responded to them, contacted them for the first time (other than the initial rplies to their letters over a year ago) and they wrote back accusing me of not moving on. LOL. uh, ok. I get impersonated, I respond and I'm the one with the problem? weird... They succeeded in temporarily hurting our friendship, but I think it's stronger now for having dealt with this nonsense.

My point is that when someone feels rejection or pain, they lash out, and in my best interest, I keep my contact info on PoF until I feel comfortable with them. This upsets some men, like I'm being paranoid. I say to them, they can go police their own and maybe women like me will lighten up, in the meantime, they are victims of the men before and if they can't put in the effort to communicate in real conversation here on PoF, I'm not too hopeful they'd put effort into a relationship.

I agree with nogo. If you give your number out to idiots what do you expect? What kind of a friend would do that to someone? You need to scan your friends better. One final note, It really isn't that big a deal to change your number. So you have to get family members a new number but its only a phone number. If you don't change it then you have to accept the consequences - SEX HOTLINE CALLS. Personally this has never happened to me because I know who I give my number to.

One other thing is it me or does everyone without a picture posted of themselves have all kinds of issues on here? Try posting a pic of yourself and maybe people will respond to emails that you send etc. It is a dating site. People without pics = hiding something.
