| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/7/2008 4:03:35 AM | How many of you saw the new Iron Man movie? What did you think of it?
I was a bit skeptical when I first heard that Robert Downey Jr. was playing Tony Stark. But after watching the movie, I found myself pleasantly surprised.

| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/7/2008 5:26:42 AM | Haven't seen it yet, but Robert Downey, Jr. looks the best he's looked in years.
So, I'll probably see it just for that reason.

| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/7/2008 7:18:07 AM | | I am not a big Robert Downey Jr fan, but the previews looked good. Went to see it with my niece and her family on Saturday, she didn't really want to see it, but admitted it was better than she thought it would be. If you like this genre it is a good one for children of all ages. The theater was packed and it was the first showing at 10:30 am, everyone laughed and cheered, not surprised it has the numbers it does already. | |

| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/7/2008 9:04:10 AM | | It was awesome. Truly an enjoyable movie. Dead on casting, good acting, tight pace, well edited. | |

| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/7/2008 10:25:15 AM | Saw it. Loved it. Want to see it again. If there was anyone born to play Tony Stark, it was Robert Downey Jr.

|
| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/7/2008 1:01:17 PM | He pulled it off!
Being a sci-fi flick, I think it was good. Movies are suppossed to be entertaining, and I was entertained.

| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/7/2008 2:39:54 PM | | i thought the same as you about robert downey jr playing tony stark.. I was a big fan of the comic book back in the day and although i have not seen the movie yet i have heard nothing but great reviews.. so i have to see it. | |

| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/7/2008 7:36:35 PM | | It was very entertaining movie and didn't do it at the expense of the story. Everyone I talked to thought Rober Downey Jr. was a bad fit for Stark, but I felt right away that he was perfect, Stark is a borderline alcoholic playboy, I can't think of anyone else that fits the role as closely. It edges out Batman Begins as my new favourite comic book movie adaption. | |
|
| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/7/2008 7:38:12 PM | Loved it!!
Would have appreciated it more if the part where he attacked those Arabs (whilst donned in the mark 1 suit) was soundtracked by the black sabbath song of the same name but we got it in the end when the credits rolled
That's just made me think, did the song inspire the comic? or did the comic inspire the song?

|
| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/7/2008 9:16:23 PM | Would have appreciated it more if the part where he attacked those Arabs The movie stayed very close to the comic book canon. However, in the comics ... it wasn't the Arabs who captured Stark ... it was the communist Chinese.
And did anyone see the resemblance of Iron Man's nemesis to Microsoft's Steve Balmer? Ya know, the guy on the board of directors for Stark Industries ... selling Jerico missiles to the Arabs.
There's also hints of an Avengers movie coming out with Iron Man teaming up with Captain America, the Hulk, Thor and Ant Man. Marvel has a Hollywood gold mine here.

Ya know, the guy on the board of directors for Stark Industries I think you are referring to Jeff Bridges, who is a great actor I might add. It was only the second time that I have ever seen him cast as a villain, but he played it very well. It was definitely nothing like his role as "the Dude" in "The Big Lebowski".
|
| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/8/2008 8:51:53 AM | | It was a great movie... Downey pulled off Stark to a "T", did anyone else catch the "Warmachine" (as in the character), reference they put in there? | |
|
| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/8/2008 10:46:43 AM | Seen it twice so far. I caught the Warmachine reference. From what I read, there is a plan to put Rhodes in the costume in one of the future installments. I think they are making it a trilogy. As far as people's doubts about Robert Downey.....what most people seem to forget is that despite all of his personal problems in the past, the man is a damn fine actor. And a lot of times when you put a damn fine actor in a comic book role (think Christian Bale as Batman, for example), they find a way of making the character three-dimensional and relatable to the audience.
Of course, it helps if you have a good script, too. I remember seeing Ang Lee's "Hulk" and was severely disappointed. Despite the good casting. I look forward to the new version with Liv Tyler and Ed Norton.

Thats a good point. Although, I personaly had no problems with the Hulk. I thought Eric Bana did a great job with Bruce Banners conflicted nature. Why did you find it disappointing?
An Ironman triliogy, sweet. There is a lot of material to work with for sure.

I thought Eric Bana did a great job with Bruce Banners conflicted nature. Yeah, casting was great in Hulk too. Nolte was just freaky good as banners father... The script could have been better... but still liked it. Noticed when I watch it again I do a lot of skipping to the good parts... Hulk himself was the best character, the way they put in him stumbling sometimes and his mannerisms... Lee did a lot of that himself. Still want to see the new one too...
Iron Man trilogy? schweeeeet.....

| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/9/2008 9:27:13 AM | | Saw it and loved it! Robert Downey Jr. was the perfect choice for Tony Stark. Both guys were womanizers and substance abusers. I think it added somethingto it for me. I like the fact that because of technology Hollywood can finally do comic book movies right. So far I've liked almost all of the ones that are based off of Marvel comics (Fantastic Four was decent but....ehh). | |
|
| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/9/2008 10:51:04 PM | | Robert Downey Jr. is also going to play Tony Stark in the new Hulk movie. I hope that one turns out well also. | |

| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/9/2008 11:40:24 PM | Is there a good dvd rip out yet? like there was for 88 minutes before it was released. | |
|
| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/10/2008 3:29:50 AM | | Saw it today and it was really, really good! We stayed throughout the credits to see which location it was filmed in and who the property belonged to. For those of you that stayed right till the end of the credits, there was an additional teaser alluding to him joining the Avengers. Anyway, the movie was very enjoyable and the Downey had great lines. | |

| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/12/2008 9:56:45 PM | | What's up with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury? I'm not sure about that one. | |
|
| Iron Man movie Posted: 5/12/2008 11:08:05 PM | After seeing the movie, all I can say is way to make a comeback Robert Downey Jr. Though he has been in a couple recent movies (A scanner darkley). I still (even though he has been a drug addict for a while) think he is an amazing actor. Also starting off a movie with an AC/DC song is one way to hook me in immediately. Gwyneth Paltrow I thought wasn't the best for the part. Terrence Howard WAR MACHINE.. COME ON !! I guess like it was hinted they will put him in 2.
War machine was one of my favorite Superheroes besides Iron man.
What's up with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury? I'm not sure about that one.
Spoiler if you haven't seen the movie and this may be a little nerdy.. lol..
In the end the movie after the credits Samuel L. Jackson introduces Himself as Nick Fury a leading agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.. He then asks Tony Starks if he thinks he's the only superhero Out there. Fury then says he needs to talk to Iron Man about "the Avenger Initiative."
An Avengers movie would be so amazing!
And Samuel L jackson as Nick Fury Is kinda upsetting but Samuel L Jackson saw some snakes ON a mother fuc..King plane so I guess its ok. lol..
