john mccain will be the next president. the chess game that's been played to place him in the white house is a thing of beauty. recruiting and prepping obama to block hillary and ensure a continuation of republican rule are the moves of a grandmaster.

we are seeing the culmination of an ongoing power struggle that will decide the future of our country.

Yep. Sadly it will be President McCain for at least the next 4-years. :-(

I must admit it's still better than President Clinton or Obama.

Op, are you implying Republicans have set up this election? The same people who were saying they'd vote for Clinton instead of McCain? The same people who dragged us halfway around the world to get bunches of people killed for no good reason? The people who laughed as they ran the deficit out of sight?

CHESS PLAYERS? Nah. Volleyball players inside a prison maybe.

you assume we have a choice in the matter. we don't. there is no way that you or i or anyone we know are going to have a say in who controls this country with thousands of nuclear weapons and the means and will to use them.

The whole original post was pretty out there - the Obama campaign was orchestrated to thwart Hillary?

Heading into the primaries the Democratic field was the strongest I've ever seen by either party. From Chris Dodd and Bill Richardson, up to Edward, Obama and Clinton, there was nothing but the best in the party. Because everybody knows this is an election where all the issues play against the Republicans, so all the people who thought they might have a chance at the nomination threw in. Hell, even the Republicans are nominating the guy who is seen as the anti-Bush (I know, I'm talking about how he was seen at the outset).

Conversely, it's like 2000 in reverse. Bush won the nomination because it was largely seen as a year the Republicans couldn't win, so the quality guys stayed out for that round. Bill had a 78% approval rating when the contest started, and had presided over 8 years of peace and prosperity.

off course obama was chosen to twart hillary. without him in the running hillary gets the nod. that's obvious as is the fact that obama was positioned to stop her.

Peace? I think you may have forgotten about the war with Haiti, the Somalia boondoggle, and the Serbian tar-pit.

McCain's going to win. He's the best of the worst. Much like in 2004 the Democrats have thrown away an easy victory.

Thanks for bringing up Serbia! What a rousing success story!

How about mentioning Northern Ireland as well? Since Clinton sent Senator George Mitchell there, there has been peace!

As for somolia, who do you think we were there to fight????

Al Queda!

In fact, Clinton spent a lot of time and effort trying o fight Al Queda! It was your moron in chief who allowed our nation to fall under attack! Too bad only Democrats seem to be literate. Literacy can prove to be such a huge weapon against evil. Too bad the other party sees it as a detriment, instead of a benefit! (((bin Laden determined to attack the US)))

How was it a success? Bosnian war criminals went free.

How about mentioning Northern Ireland as well?

I don't recall us going to war with Northern Ireland so it didn't seem germane.

As for somolia, who do you think we were there to fight????

Because we decided we didn't like their government.

Al Queda!

If you buy that one I've got a war in Iraq to sell you.

In fact, Clinton spent a lot of time and effort trying o fight Al Queda! It was your moron in chief who allowed our nation to fall under attack!

He's not mine, I didn't vote for him. If we want to fight Al Quaeda, and terrorism in general, then we should be attacking Saudi Arabia and Pakistan rather than shaking our fists at Iran.

PEACETHX, voting for the battle-harded dude in the vietnamese prison camp is a vote for more war. Absolutely.

the mindset of those people is like someone who just isnt happy unless they are creating havoc somewhere, like someone with ADD, becasue the problems are too complicated, too serious, and too boring for them at home....like algebra.

Killing is more fun. Especially when we get all that cheap oil..........whoops, well, its made it a lot more expensive.

A vote for McCain is a vote for $10 a gallon gas, but who cares? As long as were bombing the shit out of some Arab country, were having fun! Whoopee!!!!!!!!

It was coming anyway. Kenya/Tanzania in 98 and the USS Cole in 2000. Al Qaeda and Bin Laden had already declared war on the US. The idea for 9/11 had already been conceived before this time. There was nothing in place to prevent it before Bush ever took office and he was no more complicit than was the prior administration and perhaps the one before it.

I posted the below on another thread. But, it might be more appropriate on this one. These threads lately are starting to run together in context.

Anyway.....here tis. Laugh and joke all ya want. Call me a nutcase. Doesn't matter. The statements below are as REAL as it gets.

I have friends in Iran....oh.. my goodness... will I be labeled a terrorists for this.... spoke with them. Let me start way back. I went to college at the age of 40 and they are friends I made there,... a well known International University... and they lived in fear of telling others where exactly they were from. They would say Saudi Arabia, etc.

Anyway... the 'street word' is that the radical Islamics absolutely are pulling for Obama to win. Doesn't mean it's saying Obama is 'their man' to use a phrase. It just means what I heard. Nothing more or less. Might be a tad exaggerated/emphasized... but, I trust my friends as sources.

Now... to add to it... I have a very good friend who is an Orthodox Jew living in Israel. He has the typical 10 kids, etc. One just recently got married and another made him a grandfather again. During our conversations... we agree to disagree pleasantly. He says Christians should only obey the laws as laid down to Abraham by God and quit trying to put up the front of we should obey the constraints as put forth in the Torah. Too many of us... meaning all Nations... are trying to do that PC thing... political correctness... and abide by the same religious laws that the Orthodox Jews do. The Orthodox Jews actually resent us for this. The Messianic Jews though are for us...since they are those of actual Jewish lineage who believe in Christ as the Messiah.

Thing is... THIS election year is being closely followed..more so than ever ever before by both Arabic Nations and Israel. Interesting indeed!

Nah bush took us to war the same way all our war presidents take us to war, which is an attack on us real or created. In this case the same way as pearl harbor, just like they planned as laid it all out in the 1998 pnac docs.

Let's see what cunning logic might be influencing that shocking revelation of yours.

1) Hillary Clinton's husband was in charge when many Iraqi children died under those Oil For Food sanctions. His Secretary of State, Madeline Albright, is on the historical record as referring to the deaths of something like half a million children as :

Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it.

--60 Minutes (5/12/96)

It may have been a hard choice for Albright, but it was even harder on the Iraqi people.

So I guess thats the reason why those "Hillary Cares" T-shirts are still on the racks over there.

She also voted for this war, which probably isn't helping the Iraqi Hillary campaign headquarters to sign up volunteers.

2) McCain's said he'll stay the course, and keep standing up - when the Iraqi army is still not showing up one third of the time.

Apr 24, 08 11:06 PM CDT

Iraq's government has kept thousands of dead, injured or absent policemen and soldiers on the payroll as a way to compensate or care for their families, an audit found.

The practice is just one example of why there are no reliable numbers on how many Iraqi forces are on the job at any given time, says the report being made public Friday by Stuart Bowen, the special inspector general for Iraq reconstruction.

"There are continuing uncertainties about the true number ... who are present for duty at any one time," Bowen said of Iraqi policemen, soldiers, border guards and other forces.

He gave no details on how many might be receiving pay while being absent, but noted the Pentagon once reported the number of present-for-duty soldiers was about one-half to two-thirds of those being paid.

He also noted that Iraqis have a shortage of officers and still rely on coalition forces for substantial logistical support, two common themes also previously acknowledged by commanders in the field. Because the focus has been on internal security need, Iraq's longer-term job of setting up a force against outside threats remains, Bowen noted.

Bowen said that for his report, commanders in charge of the training gave him an updated figure, saying early this month 70 percent of soldiers on Iraq's Army payroll may be present for duty on any given day.

http://www.newser.com/article/1A1-D908LJ2G0.html

American soldiers are giving 150 %, and the Iraqis are giving .....70%. On a good day....

And that's not even when they are fighting.

Then all too many units refuse to fight, or surrender their weapons to the enemy.

Five years after the invasion, in a critical time to stand up so that the US can stand down....they are hitting the snooze alarm.

But where was the Iraqi platoon that was supposed to be leading this morning's sweep of the village? As it turned out, they had all overslept.

There were a few Iraqi troops around, in mismatched uniforms, as well as a secondary commander, but the designated platoon was nowhere to be found. "The army is very good at what they do," said Zemp. "They just have a problem with sleeping in." Once the Iraqi detail arrived, they stomped down the same dirt path that U.S. troops had already patrolled, only to be called back and redirected. "I was sleeping," their commander shrugged as he greeted Zemp.

http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1732617,00.html

So it would seem that the "Elect McCain" buttons won't be doing too well there either. He's promising more of what the Iraqis are seeing on the ground each and every day.

3) So, simply by the process of elimination, I'd say they might see the only American politician that can end all of this as being Obama.

He stood up against the war, and wants to start to deal with the end game aspect of it.

As an Iraqi, compared to the other two, they might actually start to see some progress towards whatever destiny awaits them.

America won't decide if Iraq succeeds or not, and no decision made in Washington will ever change that. Until America understands that, no progress will ever be made there.

So, when they found those radical islamic terrorists to poll them on who they wanted for president of the US, why didn't they report them, so they could be captured?

What a joke!

Our enemy isn't Islam, it is greed, lies and hate! We are our own worst enemy, if we don't change!

Try to visualize this:

President McCain.

We will win the war in Iraq.

The honor of our country is at stake!

What a joke! The only people who are on our side in Iraq are the ones in the payrolls (most of which are being handled by some private contractors. No wonder the supposed iraqi soldiers don't care to show up for work.)

Well, let's increase our chances by getting more iraqi people on our side, even if we have to get the whole country in our payroll. As long as we have control of those payrolls, we will be fine. We have to win this war!

All I can hope is that there will be some good writers and creative people who will be able to capture this joke for the enjoyment of future generations. I am not enjoying any of it.
