Got Blow

A controversial U.S. drink mix marketed to resemble cocaine could soon make its way north of the border, to the chagrin of anti-drug crusaders.
Blow is a vial of fine white berry-tasting powder pumped full of caffeine and marketed on the iloveblow.com website.

Consumers should have the freedom to choose. It’s a parent’s responsibility to teach their kids about the dangers of drugs. It’s ridiculous that anyone would suggest this is a gateway to drug use. There’s not a single study to prove that allegation,” he said.

Gola says his product is marketed to adults, and contains about 240 milligrams of caffeine – about the same as three Red Bulls or three coffees.

The website iloveblow.com is a spoof on 1980s cocaine culture, Gola said. In addition to vials of powder (about $3 each), it sells with fake credit cards and mirrors.

Gola said people who are recovering addicts – are like most of his critics, and not among Blow’s target demographic.

“The people who make these allegations are the same ones who never took responsibility for their own actions in the first place and got mixed up in drugs. They are recovering addicts themselves and they are a minority. Forget them.”

This guy is an idiot,............what do people think about this new thing that may be coming to Canada............. I think its freaking stupid and going to cause a whole lot of crap.............cops arresting people thinking it is actual cocaine.......etc.......

BS. All marketing is taken in by kids.
I hadn't heard of this, but think it is wrong wrong wrong.
I am not a hard-core, right-wing, anti-drug crusader - in fact far from it, but you do NOT glamorize drugs. Pot, coke, prescriptions, none of them are glamorous, and none of them should be taken lightly.

So they are selling vials of 'blow', fake credit cards and mirrors. I suggest that a whole bunch of kids will try snorting this stuff. What kind of damage is that gonna do (I suppose not as much as actual coke...)

I dunno, it's just wrong.

And an opportunity to buy Got Blow merchandise on ebay. No idea if it is related.

I can't believe these guys are for real! Looks like the FDA is after them though. Bad publicity is not as good as good publicity... sometimes.

too bad this has taurine in it; that's what makes energy drinks taste like ass. I would actually buy it if it didn't have taurine so that i could make super caffeinated coke. but that's because i am addicted to caffeine and am not a huge fan of coffee.

but selling the fake credit cards and mirrors is stupid since it's supposed to be drank, kids will end up snorting it and getting in trouble because parents/schools/cops will think they are actually doing cocaine. not to mention that it could be quite painful since the caffeine won't numb their nose like real coke would.

I find the whole thing to be ridiculous. As a mother I strive to teach my kids the dangers of drugs etc, I really don't need them to be seeing drugs glamorized. I don't care that they say it is marketed to those over 18, so is tobacco and alcohol that doesn't stop those in the younger generation from getting their hands on it. Teens that are so inclined are willing to try all sorts of things to get high (like sniffing glue, or aerosal cans etc) we really do not need to market a glamorization of illicit drugs.

While I do not think those high energy drinks are safe or necessary to begin with, it's the fact it is packaged in a styrofoam blockt o resemble a bag of coke with mirror and credit card that I find offensive. My uncle was a coke addict and it tore his family apart, there is nothing glamorous about it, there is no need to market it as such.

and your thoughts on this issue, Mr. InCognito.................... :)

The marketing classes from my business management side of me thinks it's a clever marketing gimmick. However, the parent of a child on the cusp of being exposed to such things does think it's a bad idea. They can say that it's not marketed to children all they want, but they will be exposed to it. Maybe it will force a lot of parents to give their children the "drug talk" (I know, I'm being an optimist again)

I also think that the potential for it to be abused by "real" users makes it a bad idea. What better way to hide your stash than in the open? A search of the car has this sitting out, or in your purse and you can just excuse it as what's on the label, when in fact, it's the real thing. Also, how many people are going to try to pass it off as the real thing, then you have people snorting it. I'm not very educated on the effects of drugs and such, for all I know, the high caffeine content of this could give someone a real rush if it's snorted, or it could just end up burning out your sinuses.

If I had to take a side on it, I would be against it. The negatives far outweigh any benefits of it.
