I used to work with some people who did it in under an hour, but they were hard core athletes... for average joes and jens like me it would probably take about an hour and a half, maybe two hours.... climbing.... straight up....

well... the fast time is just under 30 mins... the first time i did it was 1hr and 30 mins... granted i ate mcdonalds and pulled an allnighter before doing it... and when i went yesterday my buddy was really outta shape so we took our sweet time... so it took us 2 hrs... my ex said she did it in 54mins... but who knows how accurate that is... i'd say for a first timer... 1hr and 15 mins to 1 hr and 45 mins... unless your in good shape allready...

Grouse Grind is 2300 feet up the side of Grouse Mountain and the die hard hiker, must have not be human, can do it under 30 minutes...don't ask me how. I did the grind, never been big on it, and hit snow in mid april the last 500 feet, if i didn't encounter it, i would have been finished 10 minute sooner, my time was hour and 30 minutes. The majority of people who hike it usually finish it under 2 hours and those who hike like a deer can do it in less time...its definately a stair master workout.

Make sure you wear hiking boots and bring water, you will need it.

EEeeeee! The Grind! I did it about a month ago. It took me about 3 hours.

Its not as bad as people think. I mean, its tough and you're gonna sweat... but its not THAT bad. I paced myself and took a bunch of small breaks. And had a snack at the half way point to replenish some energy. I just wore track pants a tank top and running shoes and I was fine. Although i'de recommend shorts.

And dont forget lots of water and $5 for the gondola ride down!

Good luck and have fun!

Hey you took the ride down... that's cheating! LOL... it took me an hour and 5 minutes. Not bad for a first timer I guess.

I'd do it, not every week though. took me 1.5 hrs last year, and solid cross trainers worked, although I have hiking boots now :)

what is 2300 feet in real measurements? People tell me that you should take the skyride down, as downhill is supposed to be hard on your knees. I highly recommend the lumberjack show once you get to the top.

Did they really find that guy? I haven't heard anything about it! My 17 yr old son has done the grind ( I need to double check his time) but it's something like 36, or 26 minutes..

When I was in highschool my best time was about 58 mins. Usually I averaged around 65 though. Now I figure I'd probably take 1 hour 15 to 1 hour 30 mins...

And make sure you bring the $5 for the ride down. Not only is it really hard on your knees, it's also really bad for the trail to go down it. It corrodes the hillside. And it can be dangerous for the people going up. If you slip and fall you could take out other hikers. Remember people, this is a essentially a staircase straight up the side of a mountain.

I go every Saturday morning usually myself. Its kinda of a ritual. the Grind isn't not as hard as they say really. it builds character a lot more than it do muscles.

My first time this year was 1:15 and no competition pace I tell ya. if you go every week and you do some training during the week you should be able to break the 1 hour barrier no problem.

Ya I agree climbing under 30 minutes is quite an exploit. I saw a girl who did it in 40 minutes and she zoomed right by me like a crotch rocket beside an old tired horse and carriage I tell ya.

Definitly bring $5 for the ride down, you are more tire than you know and injuries can occurs.

Best way to dress is loose shorts (I don't know how them tourist in jeans and long t-shirt to the knees wearing back sac and a gallon of water do it? IF I could climb it naked I would lol. the less you bring with you the better it is. Bring a face clothe coz you gona want to freshen up when you get up there.

I haven't done the Grind yet this year. Hopefully next week!

I think my best time was around 52 mins last year. I'll be happy if I can get one hour right now, hehe

You'd have to be pretty damn stupid to get yourself lost on the grind. It's a very well used trail straight up the hill. And no matter what the weather it's always got a ton of people on it. If someone got lost on Grouse, I really doubt it was on the grind.

okies... the 30 min thing is what i was told the best time was... have no idea how true it is... but it seems plausible... and the guy being found is what my buddies grandma told him and he then told me... so i have no proof to back it up... lol... so i pretty much talk out my ass... anyways... i think there should be a weekly thing... but i wanna sleep in on the weekends...

so i think it should be every wed evening or thursday evening... like at 6ish or something... or 7 or whatever works best for you all...
