Honesty vs. Politeness on POF

Is it better to keep responding to someones emails in the name of politeness, or be honest and tell them up front that you're not what you're looking for? I've recieved many one line replies, even had a woman tell me she had found someone yet visited this site daily, and even then sent back a couple "one liners". Then out of the blue rips me apart for being pathetic and making myself look desperate. Personally, a brief reply like "I'm sorry, but I don't think we're a good match" is what she should have wrote in the beginning or as soon as she knew. That's not being rude, men will appreciate it (and women) and your mailbox won't be filled from being your not the least bit interested in getting to know. Anybody agree?

I agree with you whole heartedly... While it might be hard to say 'you're not interested' please do so.... someone might be interested in you and hang around "hoping". This isn't pathetic, it's human... the cold hard truth is that in this day and age, when you feel a connection, you don't want to give up on it easily... life is too short to throw away what could be a special relationship without giving it every chance.
