Why do men think it is appropriate to ask a woman if she has stretch marks?
Met a guy a while ago and said I had no pictures to post because I lost weight over the past year, and his response was about the stretch marks. Already said that I had a son so wouldn't that have been the time to ask?
Should I have asked just when his hairline started to recede to clue him in?

Consider such questions as one of your red flags... and just block the sender.

The vast majority of men don't think it is appropriate to ask if a woman has stretch marks. Why didn't you ask this cretin why HE felt it was an appropriate question? Don't classify all men as being this boorish.

don't worry about dipsticks like this. surely the question he asked has told you all you need to know about him.

no, don't ask him about his hair reduction. just cos he's a twit doesn't mean you have to be one.

don't lower your own standards, just move on.

Right, all us men have a secret desire to as women about stretch mars and he's one of the few brave enough to ask.

Could be he's a dermatologist or plastic surgeon and wanted to offer some solutions....
Could be he was attempting to talk about a problem he shares with you....
Could be he is turned on by stretch marks.

said that I had a son so wouldn't that have been the time to ask?

Maybe he is only interested in recently acquired stretch marks and the old ones have faded.

I have asked just when his hairline started to recede to clue him in?

Right, trading insults is a great way to establish a relationship with those that enjoy trading insults.

The adult thing to do would be to simply ignore and block him. Of course.

But..ehh...who wants to be an adult all the time??

I..err...I mean the child in me can certainly think of a few equally classy questions that would be fun to ask such an idiot.

And I've been known to be quite childish at times.

So by all means, let the guy ask me if I have stretch marks and let the good times roll!

Edited at post below: Hahahahaha! That's EXACTLY what I...er...I mean the child in me had in mind...lol!

Goodness. Apparantly it was important to him.

I suppose he didn't realize how rude it is to ask personal questions like that..but on the other hand, now you know he is rude at best, most likely insensitive, and shallow enough for stretch marks to be an issue.

Better to find out early.

Wow! He asked u that? I would have replied with "most women have them anyway, and if you have an issue with them then maybe u should look for a man"

What a dumb ass he is!

IMPORTANT PART! Bio-Oil does help girls, I bought it about 1 month ago and I noticed a difference.

Some guys have all the cute, romantic questions memorized - waiting at the tip of their tongue (or fingers) with which to woo a woman....this one didn't.

I have to agree with several people who said "He was crass/ignorant"

My opinion: His mama shoulda' taken a switch to him...

(Please realize, though, not all men are that crass - we actually divide-up the things on which we are ignorant, though, so that every guy has his fair share of topics with which he can amaze women!!!!)

I am impressed with the implied fact that the OP showed her class and didn't waste breath (or electrons) taking the elevator down to the same sub-sub-basement where this guy's comment originated...well done, "Lady"!!! )

I would have done everything I could do to arrange a meeting, so I could slap him upside the head.

Admittedly, I am cranky.

I've yet to have a man ask me that. I just figured at our ages, its a given-for a lot of the men as well as the women. What rock had he been hiding under? It was pretty insensitive-though I've certainly been asked much worse.

Being the joker I am, I would have told him that unless he could pleasure me 6 times within an hour without the use of little blue pills, he'd never get the chance to see whether or not I had stretchmarks. ....Well if I was in a fiesty mood at the time.

He's shallow....good thing you found that out at the beginning.

You know... as I have gotten to know the men better that I have dated I have asked them questions like.. would a masdectomy bother them.. or shriveled boobies or.. other type undesirable body problems.. and every one of them said no.. that what attracts them to a woman is their personality, their eyes, their smile.. Now granted these guys get a look at a gorgeous woman they will look.. but I think if a man is a nice guy he would never ask a question like that.... and he wouldn't matter anyway.

Anyman with any sense knows that if a woman has had children that she will more than likely have stretch marks.. sheesh..

Kick the guy to the curb.. put him on block.. what an idiot!!

Now Mister Spade?
What a futile endeavour unless you care to devour us like a salad!!! Oops my bad!

OT: I think it is terribly crass to be honest! I have not seen many men with stretch marks, although, have seen one or two from major weight loss. Women on the other hand after childbirth? Sure. What about scars? That could work for either gender. I would never have the nerve to ask someone about such a thing.

Why not just be honest and tell him that you do have stretch marks? Big whooping deal, we all have wrinkles, we all age, nobody cares, especially us guys.
