What will become of the American Labor movement with such low density in Union membership in the private sector???

Numbers are at a historical low and many insiders(AFL-CIO, Change to win) feel that something radical in terms of public response must change. With more and more Americans who are becoming less involved with collective action and striving to" out do the Smith's" with every single purchase(mostly on credit) are looking for "status" over substance, I think we have a real problem.....

With the tightening of the labor markets, and the reality of globalization. Is the debt for degree option even a good option considering where production is going. Lets look at health care. first off we have a large segment of our society(who is living longer) retiring in the next few years. With the for profit hospital/insurance industry being overwhelmed with more patients and less payers. We are doomed. Most citizens who have benefited from insurance plans have done so by employer based benefits. Now those benefits were negotiated usually by a union. With the lack of employee/citizenship activism how can this nation compete ???

The strike is obsolete.
With the NLRA prohibiting secondary boycotts, unions are of historical significance only. Kind of like slide rules.
