| Missing emails???

I have recently sent out some "heartfelt" first contact emails to a couple people over the course of the last couple weeks. They seemed to go through, and I have been checking daily for any kind of response.
I noticed today with a shock that the site says "email get deleted within 30 days" and I figured with some horror that my first contact letters may never have been seen! I recently tried again to contact these people to see if they had received anything, but once again was presented with the "you have no emails between you and this user" message.
Does this mean that these people never did receive my messages either time, or is this referring to a "reply" on their part to the ones I sent out? I have been sincere in writing, and would also be quite discouraged if this site was somehow dumping my attempts to connect with people. I am placing quite a bit of hope on being able to meet people this way... it seemed very promising.
Does anyone know what is going on?

Posted: 5/12/2008 10:58:29 PM | I should also mention that my inbox shows the standard "this is your current matches" mail from the site, and I cannot delete this. I wonder if this is another glitch? I check the delete box, and then select the "delete" text but nothing happen to the default "your matchs" mail from the site.
If I had more I suppose it would be terrible if I am not seeing them somehow. I don't know if that is the case, but it would be awful considering what I just mentioned in my first mail if somehow I got replies and then deleted them without even seeing... But I am jumping to the possibilities now, so I guess I should just see if any of you know what is going on.
