I have sent out a lot of emails and recieved very few responses. Please let me know if I have said something in my profile that women find unattractive or frightening. (If it is my picture, that can't be helped, LOL.)

Boring headline. You need something that catches attention.

Pic is decent but single. I bet it looked better before POF got it, right? When POF resized it, your jacket created really annoying moire pattern. If that is not in original, let me know and I'll go over how to fix it. You also need a face closeup for main.

Interests - too few and phrased too unconventionally, so they don't highlight. Rephrase so that they do. That way they'll be searchable.

Don't talk about your profile in your profile. Talk about you. Elaborate on your interests, don't just repeat what "interests" category says.

Break text into paragraphs and add one on your match. You don't cover what you want in a woman almost at all.

First date - conventional but fine if it is that way.

Relax the restrictions. I am your age and met a woman at POF meet who I would swear was in late 30s or early 40s. She was a very young 52. Also, supposedly distance is not always calculated well, so relax 75 miles and filter them out one by one.

Thank you for the detailed reply. I will work on it. (I don't have many pictures to choose from, unfortunately.)

Need to leave an extra space between paragraphs for easier reading.

Delete this: "After re-reading my profile, I realized that I might have come across as too intense, which was never what I intended." I didn't see your previous profile, and so I don't care what you may have had there.

Burn that shirt or jacket just as soon as you can. If you don't have lighter fluid, use vodka as an accelerant. Only teenage go-go girls in cages look good wearing that psychedelic pattern. Everyone else gets vertigo from it and vomits. And it detracts from your face, which I can't remember at all because all I can see is that hideous jacket. Or shirt. Burn it.

You need other pics. Try. You're artsy, don't you know ANYONE with a digital camera?

Oh gosh, I am so glad someone said something about that jacket. It was giving me a headache! It's one thing to want to appear as artsy, it's totally another to want to appear as a walking optical illusion.

You misspelled exercise in your interests.

Until I find that one person, I see no reason not to have fun (we are all adults here, after all.)
So, what you are saying is that you are just going to f*ck around until you find Ms. Right? Wow, that is attractive. I can't imagine why every woman is not flocking to you.

You have so many e-mail restrictions that Mother Theresa would have a tough time contacting you. You might try working that into some tasty prose on the profile and loosening those up a bit. Also glaringly obvious is your lack of restrictions on anyone looking for an intimate encounter. Coupled with the above mentioned, it makes you look like a man whore.

Yev and Ursula...on the money as usual.

I'd lose the jacket definitely or make a valance out of it....something.

In addition to considering the advice, read profile writing tips thread, lots of great ideas there. You haven't done the bare essence which is painting a decent mental picture of the type of guy you'd be like to spend time with.

Just a few technical suggestions:

Change INTOART to InToArt

Your interests are too generic, and only a few of them are searchable. Add more unique, yet searchable ones.

The Crab is your headline? Huh? OK so you're crabby? I thought only my
zodiac sign could claim that one. How about "Lionhearted Artist" or something
that describes a Leo personality. Try for a positive upbeat twist to it.

And yes, please remove that shirt and do what Ursula said pronto!

Good Luck and Happy Fishing to You!

Thank's again to all. I wrote my profile in "realtime". Before changing it, I need to write the new one out in detail on paper, edit it, and proofread it.
It will be a couple of weeks before I can get a new photo taken, as the only person I know who owns a digital camera is my mother. (All are correct about the shirt. The digital artifacts created by it are distracting, though the shirt itself is quite conservative in real life!)
I agree that I need to do something about the "we are all adults here" line, but I don't want a profile devoid of all such references. (I don't want to be overlooked by women who ARE mainly looking for sex, as that is something I don't believe in saying no to!
)
I will try loosening the restrictions, but I am not sure how to edit them (some have an "edit" option, some do not.)

Okay, I have re-written it. Is it better now?

Africa called... they want their rare pink cheetah back. Holy lordy, looks like you fed that cat some acid and then hit it with your Jeep while on a safari. Key-riced.

I think everything has been pretty much covered. You've made changes but there are still changes that should be made. Also the restrictions are covered in the MAIL SETTINGS tab and not the EDIT PROFILE tab. Hope that helps you.

Also, you have been on here 2 months. I don't think you are taking this thing too seriously as you haven't posted a new picture yet. Instead of talking about the picture in here and in your profile why not simply go out one afternoon with your camera and either get a friend/family member/stranger to snap one of you, or set your timer and stand back and do something for the camera, meanwhile doing yourself a favour! This picture is only hurting you in the pants my friend.

If nothing else, take the pic (the original, of course), crop the face and use that as main. The face expression in it is good and you need the face closeup for main.

The problem with moire is that you need to scale down the picture to the resolution that POF uses in a software smarter than POF used to do that. You need something that uses resampling to resize images. I had same issue with one of my previous pics - when I let POF resize it, there was a lot of moire. When I did it myself before uploading it to POF, there was virtually none. My case was better than yours, so no guarantees - but if you want me to try to fix it, contact me and let me know. I can't contact you due to your restrictions.

OP, there are so many negatives in this, that I have no idea what it says! Can you explain it? You want women who are looking for sex to look at your profile because you want to say yes to sex?

(Note: the "edit profile" function does NOT include "edit restrictions".)

The "edit profile" is just that...only works for editing your profile...not a multitasking button (that would be me...Multitask is my middle name..I'd say Queen of Multitasking, but there'd no room on my widdle head for another tiara)

For Mail Restrictions...go to the link for "Mail Restrictions" edit at will and save the changes. It's very userfriendly (unlike MOI!)

It's dark here, and I did have to go fish out my shades...just to answer your thread...just so ya know....please post any other pic or none....the 60's called, they want their jacket back. I don't think they're kidding!!! YIPES!!

Oh boy.... please burn that coat... I feel sick. My review is going to piss you off, but it's because I'm blunt, and that's what you need!
---
I am looking for someone who shares some of my interests, wants to do things together (eg go for a bike ride), have long conversations, or just cuddle at home with good music.
<< yeah, no shiz sherlock.. you're on here for dating. This is not an attention getter. The point of your first statement is to bring a girl into the conversation

I am much more interested in intellectual things (such as art and science) than in "macho" things (such as sports and hunting), but I do excercise regularly, eat well, and generally take good care of myself.
<< Erm, go into details, what type of art. "Museums are my home away from home".. ."I have paintings on every wall"...."My garden is better than yours!".. Why even mention that you're not into sports and hunting. Remember, if you don't mention it, you're not interested in it. Girls aren't interested in hunting (usually) why would they care that you aren't? If you exercise, explain your habits in an interesting way.
"4 mile jog? No problem!"... "My cooking is like heaven on earth. Even I drool just thinking about it."

The picture is rather bad, so I will post a better one when I can, but that may take some time, so bear with me.
<< Yeah, so every girl just blocked you because of your jacket... get rid of that thing.. take your picture down... lock your profile until you get a good picture! Don't let people see you like that (as if I'm one to talk)

In the short term,I am happy just dating. I really hope to meet that special someone eventually, however, and when I do, I will give my heart 100%.
<< Fruity and in no way sexy.

Feel free to ask me anything. (I would rather risk saying something you don't want to hear than be dishonest, I am very ethical and complete honesty is part of that.)
<< Get rid of this I'd say.

Survey says....I'm NOT Richard Dawson...and dating myself (not the worst date ever...I'm so fun..I love spending time with me) Ehh... I digress.

Do whatever you want to with your profile...it won't matter (meaning you've wasted enough bandwith already)

You're not "stuck" with your horrible pic...read your first post....can't do anything about it? WHAA...oh and you're the cloest artist...isn't everyone?

Creatvitity...tell me Richard...survey says...BEEP! That would be a big ZIP...nada...ZERO.

How many more posts....ehh...BLEK. My album collection is calling, I need to label and reorganize my albums. You're not paying attention!! So that being said, being the frank, blunt person I am. You've sealed your fate...forgeddabout shooting yourself in the foot...a bullet in your gun would tell you...wow DUDE...before you pull back the hammer (not an gun person) No really a bullet would tell him or want to...before you shoot...ehh...GPR residue all over...already done.

Your shot off foot is in Toledo...bouncing off a farm house and confusing the HECK out of the local law enforcement. Shame...the family was huddled in their cellar/basement thinking it was a hail storm.

The potential damage is widespread..I was just looking at buying a home in Toledo...)[f[pfft..yeah...I live in Floreeady aka Paradiise...just working the humor angle) well thanks for that. The Toledo Chamber of Commerce will come knocking on your door...don't answer...it won't be pretty.

Funny that..the ramifications of yet another shot off foot...never know where it lands.

Read the OP again..yeah I know...my dreams of a life in Cleveland...Topeka...oh Toledo..yeah. Crushed...destroyed...you ruined my future. Thanks a lot for that BUB...what pray tell is this thing with the pic?

Ehh...you have to be in prison...good job...that jacket you should have a life sentence. Hmm...explains a lot...use your rec time to better use. Pump up....get a prison tat....go to the library and learn a new skill. (shh...don't tell anyone..knitting will be coming back...bigtime) Learn to knit a cozy for an RV...there will be a demand and you can get your price. Well you have the time...
