Going to Costa Rica for cosmetic dentistry

has anyone heard of traveling to Costa Rica for dental work? I have heard that it is 1/10th the cost of work done in the United States and I am curious if anyone has traveled out of the country to have such work performed, and if they were satisfied with the results.

I was just told I need to get some veneers due to excessive tooth grinding and thin enamel on my teeth and the price quoted was over $12,000....

I have a friend who's been to CR 8,9 times, for golfing and surfing, and then last December for family reunion.

From everything he says, the country, while poor, works very well, very stable with 50 years democracy, a low-cost, universal-access national health care.

I've been shopping in MX and CR for some stuff I need, but the work isn't expensive enough here to be offset by travelling abroad.

Just like in the USA, there are medical horror stories outside of USA. And of course US dentists will systematically say you got bad dental work outside of USA, whether it's true or not. And then there will be the multi $Ks offer to "correct" it.

To keep these people (US and overseas), there should be patient websites that rate the overseas care. That's beginning to happen in USA. All professional associations work very hard to hide their profession's screwups.

I was looking at some treatment in LA. The doc's website didn't look very good. and then I googled to find that he'd been cited 3 times by the CA medical board for false claims, etc. oops.

All you can do is verify as much as you can that the dentist you're going to. Not easy.

Let me add that, what you've probably already discovered, the "medical tourism" industry is a huge and growing, to central/south America, India, etc. Pkg deals with air fare, out-patient living accommodations, etc. Quite sophisticated.

Medical tourism a symptom of how thoroughly diseased is the US "health" $care racket.

And if you have the time, vacation in CR while your down there. It's got a lot of everything. 1000's of European and N. American ex-patriots, snow-birds pump in $Bs.

I have 2 dear friends Annie and Lisa in Costa Rica. Send me an Email---I want to go too for mini face lift and dental work. I want to go before Lisa gets married or she'll be too busy.

If you grind your teeth get a custom made mouth guard, even if you get veneers they won't last long since you grind your teeth anyways.
