Britain Releases Files on UFO Sightings

Several dozen people claim they spotted a UFO last week in the sky over Stephenville, Texas. » Out of this World?

(AP) -- The men were air traffic controllers. Experienced, calm professionals. Nobody was drinking. But they were so worried about losing their jobs that they demanded their names be kept off the official report.

No one, they knew, would believe their claim an unidentified flying object landed at the airport they were overseeing in the east of England, touched down briefly, then took off again at tremendous speed. Yet that's what they reported happened at 4 p.m. on April 19, 1984.

And then the Vatican Steps up to bat and states:

"It's Madness to Believe that Man is Alone" Vatican Astronomier Admits Possibility of Extraterrestrial Life.

(EFE) - Jesuit George Coyne, director of the Vatican Observatory, is convinced of the existence of extraterrestrial life and states that it is "madness" to think than humans are alone in the universe.

Father Coyne and his scientific team reached this conclusion after studying the heavens from the astrophysical research center located at the Papal summer residence at Castelgandolfo near Rome.

"The universe is so vast that it would be madness to think that we're an exception," said Coyne in an interview with the Milan newspaper "Corriere della Sera", underlining that "each day new data is amassed" which leads to the possibility of life forms different from those found on Earth. "The more we study the stars, the more aware we become of our own ignorance," he adds.

The Jesuit prist, responsible since 1978 for an observatory with more than a century of history behind it and reporting directly to the Holy See, states that "Science does not undermine faith; rather, it stimulates it."

He admits not having any proof of extraterrestrial life.

However, he admits that while there is no scientific evidence today that proves the existence of life beyond Earth, Coyne is aware that this eventuality opens a disquieting series of mysteries for believers, and represents "a great challenge", but that it should not be considered to be a "dramatic" event. "

Anyone else want to come clean??? How about the USA?

Stephenville, Texas, is not in England, and April 19, 1984 was more than a week ago. That makes the report seem dubious.

Just research the testimony of Gordon Cooper, now deceased.

As one of those first seven astronauts at NASA, he really didn't seem to have any need to tell wild tales to attract attention. He was already an American hero. In fact, such stories (if not true) would risk tarnishing his name on the historical record.

He spoke out quite publicly about his experiences in the military, and quite convincingly too. I always considered his testimony as something rather interesting, and possibly one of the best indications that we may not be alone in this universe.

I do find it hard to believe that we are, given it's size.

Nah, these two are just the beginning. I read the write up in the paper from the Associated Press about the Vatican's official stance which has followed the recent release of documents by the British. However, in researching the web I also found another article about a French scientist addressing the UN. They are going to come out of the closet in 2009.

The best I've ever seen on film was a documentary that can be bought, "The Disclosure Project". Also, the books by now deceased Dr. John Mack of Harvard.
